Awww, I wouldn’t mind seeing Mellan under my Christmas tree 🙂
*Haul – Colour Pop! Shadows in DGAF (wow!) , Moonshine, Dance Party (and backup ’cause it’s so gorgeous), Eye Pot Gel in Sweet Tooth, and Eyeliners in Fast Lane, Workout, and DTLA. Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Plum. ELF Illuminating Palette (one to keep at work), Smudge Pot in Ocean Bound (OMG, this sticks like crazy on my oily lids, using as base for blue shadows). Cle De Peau Quad in Stardust AND the compact for almost 50% off ( Saks had 14% cash back and offered $25 gift card). I’ve been eyeing this quad for 2 years and couldn’t pass up the deal. The packaging is so luxe, hoping the shadows perform, will be testing this weekend.
*Weekend – testing makeup, doing returns, making a trip to stores to hunt down holiday makeup
*Watch- yes!!! I have to catch the commute train for work, and need my watch

Katherine T. Avatar

I have about 5 of the LM Caviar Sticks in neutral colors, and they are great worn alone or as a shadow base for my oily lids. Best value is to buy the holiday sets. I just got Plum yesterday (has been sold out on Sephora for weeks) and I’m planning to test next week. But I did swatch in store on my hand, and it looks promising. Once Plum set, it became a tattoo, lasted through multiple hand washings, hand cream, and a shower, but we’ll see how it does on my lids. Oh my goodness, Colour Pop is like crack. One order, and you are hooked !!! They live up to the hype. I probably have 75 items from them ( shadows, blushes, highlighters, lipsticks, lip pencils, etc). So far, I’ve loved 99% of the stuff, the only thing I didn’t like was their matte pastel shadows (dry and chalky) and a couple of their matte shadows (dry but salvageable), but those are really hard to get right. Everything else has been an A in my book. Most of their stuff is around $5-$8, so I’ve actually saved money by buying stuff from them rather than the more expensive brands.

Nicole Avatar

Haha! I just laughed my head off! Your right. ColourPop is like crack!
Oooh Cle de Peau. You lucky duck. With a compact! Ahh. You know the drill Katherine. Let me know what you think. 🙂

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Thanks Katherine! I’ll take a look at the LM sets. I was looking at the Colour Pop site yesterday (sucked in…). I put a few things in my cart but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. The one down side I see for me, is they ship USPS from CA. Since I’m on the East Coast, regular mail to me runs anywhere from 6-10 days (my service is awful). So, I won’t get that instant gratification I get from other retailers which significantly faster shipping. Still, might be worth the cost savings!

Katherine T. Avatar

LM only comes out with only 1 set a year, and it’s always during the holidays. Temptalia reviewed it and gave it an A. I have 3 of the 6 colors already, so didn’t get it. I have a full size stick, and will probably never finish it, so the mini-sets are the way to go, and they have plenty of product, as a little goes a long way. Check it out 🙂

Nicole Avatar

I’m curious to hear other opinions about the Laura Mercier caviar sticks as well. I’ve bought two so far but haven’t gotten to use them yet. I can say that they swatch so pigmented and creamy, and they blend out really nicely on my hand.

Haul: Wet N Wild lipsticks in In The Flesh, Spiced Rum, and Cherry Bomb, Cover FX Oil Free foundation in G10 (I’m so pale!), and Sephora Microsmooth Baked Blush in Tea Rose Tickle. I’m also hoping to go to Sephora tomorrow and use my $25 off for VIB Rouge, but I have to call customer service because I haven’t gotten it yet.
Weekend plans: Work on my paper for literature class, study for finals.
Do you still wear a watch?: Sometimes, I have a really nice one. My dad actually has a matching one he wears all the time, so when we get together I make sure to always wear it!

Mariella Avatar

I called Customer Service yesterday and was told “just wait; we can’t give you a coupon code/number”. I emailed them today and received an automatic email telling me if my question is about the discount card to CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Talk about going ’round in circles. I will phone again tomorrow. I’m more than a bit annoyed!

Haul: MAC Twig!!!! I gave in to my no-buy because I had 10% off at Sephora and a family member asked me what I wanted. It was supposed to be a Christmas present from them to me (I bought it first as it was cheaper that way), but I got too excited when I got home and accidentally dropped it, nicking it in the process ): So I’m keeping it. It’s gorgeous – I initially went into the Sephora thinking I’d get Kinda Sexy because I’ve been looking at so many swatches of it but I’m glad that I swatched it in-store as it ended up looking too chalky on my light-medium skin. It’s the perfect deeper MLBB shade that I wish Velvet Teddy pulled on me.
Weekend plans: Packing! I’m flying off on Sunday for a family holiday.
Do you still wear a watch: Every day! I got a really nice black Bering one for my birthday this year (http://www.beringtime.com/index.php?id=21&L=10&ArticleId=11435-166) from my family and it’s a real wardrobe essential. Goes with everything.

Plans: Hitting the mall for Santa pics, and probably picking up a couple more things for my daughter (hopefully this will be the final haul, LOL!). I also need to figure out what to grab at Sephora with my $20 off, and I have points & a $5 ULTA coupon, so…

Watch: I’ve never cared for them, so it’s literally been decades. I also don’t wear rings, and bracelets are very rare for me…

Watch: I used to wear one all the time when I was younger, not so much anymore though.

BTW, Mellan looks super cute!!

Nicole Avatar

Mellan looks so cute! I love your tree. It’s so pretty! I just got mine up a few days ago. It’s fake and cost $21 dollars are Target, lol, but it’s the first one I’ve had in years and I love it!

Haul: Well, I took a mini-break from my Sephora embargo to use my $25 off $50 coupon. I ended up getting a YSL Rouge Pur Couture Satin Radiance Lipstick in Blond Ingenu and a Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge lipstick in Rose Lancôme. I bought a TON, and I do mean a ton of dr. brandt skin care during their 40% off sale. The only product I’ve used from them is their cleanser, which I got in a sample from birchbox and love so much and bought right away, so it’s a bit of a risk. I guess if I don’t like the products I’ll either try to return them or use them as gifts. I think I spent $380 and saved $270 and I got cleanser (3), moisturizer (3), under eye cream (2), primer (3) and an anti-oxidant drink thing (3) so I should be good for the year. I hope. From bareminerals I bought their Deluxe Original Foundation Collector’s Edition in Fair and their Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Opal 01. I subscribed to Boxycharm, because I watched too many KathleenLights videos (I’m excited!). From Ulta, I got Ahava Mineral Botanic Velvet Cream Wash in Hibiscus and Fig, Lipstick Queen Look of Love lipstick set, Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick in Black Tie, about 12 more Fizz and Bubble bath fizzies, Marc Jacobs Decadence perfume, 3.4 oz, Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Stone Fox, Soft Spoken, Cherry Skies, Orange County, Tea & Cookies, Amethyst, Kitten Heels and Vintage, a second The Brushing Guard Cleaning Kit, Nyx Wicked Dreams Eye Shadow Palette (not sure if it’ll be any good-just curious, really), Nyx Dark Circle Concealer, Nyx Round Case Lipstick in Snow White, Lipstick Queen Ruby Slippers lipstick kit, Heavenly Lush Jumbo Powder Brush #3 from It Cosmetics, Lipstick Queen opaque Sinner lipstick in Hot Rose and the matching lip liner (they’re having a gwp on lipstick queen sinner and saint lipsticks-free liner with purchase-yay! I hope it’s good.), Le Couvent Des Minimes Botanical Cologene Of The Cloister and Rose and Berries lip balm, Dream Zone Pillow Mist from Earth Therapeutics (2) and Satsuma Body Mist from The Body Shop (2)-the last two are for gifts, lol. I also bought more makeup organizers from byAlegory, some Morphe brushes from Hautelook, just to try them out (at a discount) and a Le Angelique styling set (blow dryer, curling rod, straightening iron) from zulily.

I think that’s it. Some of it was stuff I ordered shortly after last week’s Free for Haul post. I probably wouldn’t have bought so much, but the combination of sales and me being so stressed out kind of made shopping inevitable.

Weekend plans: Relaxing. I’m finally home after a long, long Thanksgiving week and I’m just so happy to cook in my own kitchen and sleep in my own bed! I do have to open a local bank account tomorrow, but hopefully that won’t take long and I can get back home and sit around. Watch Netflix. Possibly drink wine, maybe just copious amounts of tea. Bliss.

Do you still wear a watch?: No, but I want to. I have three, but two are old and the batteries have stopped working and one I bought online and the wrist band is a tiny thing that I’ll have to extend if I ever want to wear it.

Nicole Avatar

Ok, and I just bought some more Viseart palettes from Musebeauty. I wasn’t going to, but I got my first Musebeauty purchase in today. Well, first of all I found out that their customer service is top notch. Part of my order was missing so I sent them a letter through their contact form telling them so. Literally no more than 10 minutes later someone from the company called me and apologized and said he’d get the order out today. I mean! Who has customer service like that? The part of my order that did come are my Viseart palettes from the Parisian eyes set. I had gotten Sultry Muse and Bridal Satin. I already have their Dark Matte palette and I love it, but when I swatched the two I just got I literally said “Holy crap” out loud. I’ve been swatching so much lately, and these are just so amazing! It also looks like they still have their Parisian Eyes set on the site, so I put in an order for the rest of the palettes: Neutral Matte, Paris Nudes, Cool Matte and Editorial Matte. I hope the sale is still valid. It went through and everything. Guess I’ll find out! I love Viseart so much. I hope they never go away.

Christine Avatar

Aww!! Congrats on having a tree this year, Nicole! 🙂 I love decorating for Christmas. It’s just such a festive holiday to me, but maybe I dig how much gold and glitter there is 😉

Nice haul, Nicole! Happy you were able to use your $25 off $50 coupon at least!

Nicole Avatar

Thank you! I love decorating for Christmas too! I agree-the gold and glitter is definitely a big part of it. It’s so nice to give into the temptation to be decadent and fun. I also love how it seems like this is such an emotionally warm time, compared I guess with any other time of year. I love this holiday so much, lol.

I know, right? I picked up way too much, but most of it was stuff I look at every time I go on one of those sites and think “maybe…”, and then exit out of the page. Except this time I didn’t! And I just couldn’t pass up getting the Viseart palettes at that discount. Out of all my eye shadows and palettes, they’re my favorite.

Haul:
Living Proof (Black Friday): Full Size Flex Shaping Hairspray, Travel Size Flex Shaping Hairspray (GWP), Full Thickening Cream Sample

Mario Badescu (Black Friday 10% Off): Orange Cleansing Soap; Cellufirm Moisturizer; Super Collagen Mask; Temporary Lifting Mask; Cellufirm Drops; Hyaluronic Emulsion With Vitamin C; (GWP): Limited Edition Bag, Mirror, 3 Deluxe Samples; Samples: Peptide Renewal Cream, Hyaluronic Eye Cream, Vitamin C Serum

Mario Badescu (Cyber Monday 25% Off): Hyaluronic Eye Cream, Cellufirm Drops, Hyaluronic Emulsion With Vitamin C, Orange Cleansing Soap, Cellufirm Moisturizer; Limited Edition Bag, Mirror, 3 Deluxe Samples; Samples: Enzyme Revitalizing Mask, Peptide Renewal Cream, Vitamin C Serum. I totally wish I had known they were doing a better discount Cyber Monday. I would have waited and just ordered everything for the better sale.

Ulta (Black Friday): Smashbox $10 Deal (Sepia Shadow Trio and Brush), Ulta Luxe Smooth Exfoliating Body Scrub (Fragrance Free; On Sale Plus $5 Off Coupon). My only in-store purchase. I was bored and just browsing through. Just goes to show, I can’t walk out of a beauty retailer without buying something!

Ulta (Cyber Monday): Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herb and Rosewater, Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum, Mario Badescu Enzyme Revitalizing Mask, Lipstick Queen Saint Sheer Lipstick (Wine), Lipstick Queen Medieval Tinted Treatment, 5-pc Mario Badescu gift + bag (GWP), Lipstick Queen Exact Match Lip Liner (Wine) (GWP), 19-pc Beauty Bag (GWP), 3 Samples. I’ve been wanting to try the Lipstick Queen Medieval for some time. I was also curious about the Saint sheer lipstick. Since I didn’t have a sheer in wine and since the promo gave you a free matching lip liner, I figured it was a good time to try it too. *Note – Ulta cancelled the Enzyme Mask 3 days after I placed the order stating it was out of stock *makes sad face*

Sephora: Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment, Deluxe Sample Burberry Kisses Lipstick in #109 Military Red, Samples: Benefit Cosmetics Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer, Clean Classic, Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. Honestly, I only placed this order for the free Burberry lipstick. I wanted the shade, but didn’t want to buy the full size.

Sephora (VIB Rouge $25 Off): NARS x Steven Klein Collaboration Killer Shine Lip Gloss (Fast Life), Burberry Kisses Lipstick (Garnet No. 81), Cyber Weekend Mystery Sample Bag (GWP), Samples: Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Eau de Toilette Spray, Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau De Toilette, Ralph Lauren Polo Red Intense Eau de Parfum Spray

Paula’s Choice (Cyber Monday 20% Off): Sheer Cream Lipstick SPF 15 (See-Through Mauve), Sheer Cream Lipstick SPF 15 (Rosy Glow), Sheer Cream Lipstick SPF 15 (Sherbet), Samples: Hydralight One Step Face Cleanser, Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask, Smooth Finish Conditioner

Bobbi Brown (Cyber Monday 20% Off): Shimmer Finish Lip Color (Plum Shimmer), Shimmer Finish Lip Color (Berry Shimmer), Samples: Extra Eye Repair Cream, Hydrating Eye Cream

Ebay: 24 count lipstick holders (3) – Currently I have my lip products separated into holders as: 1 for cool glosses, 1 for cool lipsticks and pencils/crayons, 1 for warm glosses, 1 for warm lipsticks and pencils/crayons. All of the products are in order from lightest shade to darkest. I want to further break them out by having a separate holder for just my sheer lipsticks and another for my pencils and crayons. Since I have so many (around 200 after this shopping spree), I think it will be easier to find what I want by breaking them down even further by opacity. If I had the room – or at least wanted to allocate more space – it would probably make sense to break them down further by matte, satin, shimmer, etc…but I’m not that obsessive…yet!

Walgreens: Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity Oil Free Volumiser (5.1 fl oz), Noxzema Shaving Eyebrow Shaper. Never tried Kevin Murphy haircare but I read a lot of good things about this volumizer – it’s supposed to be great for fine hair without leaving any crunchiness.

Neiman Marcus: Smith & Cult Nail Polish (Dark Like Me), Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner and Intensive Serum Concealer Deluxe Samples (Beauty Cue GWP). I’ve always wanted to try the Smith & Cult polishes since I’ve heard good things. This vampy opaque aubergine looks like a winner!

Weekend plans: Work on my daughter’s house. Work on my house. I’d like to find a new picture for over my bed; preferably a black and white one. It’s supposed to be in the 50s and clear here so it may be a good time to go and look around for something.

Do you still wear a watch?: I haven’t worn a watch in years. I think I have 2 or 3. I know I have a cute Betsey Johnson charm one but I never think to wear it. Now that you’ve reminded me, maybe I’ll wear it over the weekend.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

Yeah, I’ve cut myself off, although I did hit the Saks sale to buy my first Tom Ford.

Typically, when I buy a lot at one time, there are pieces that I wanted more than others. Those are the ones I go for first (sometimes, I’ll even try them right out of the box!) Out of this haul, the biggies for me were the Lipstick Queen lipsticks and the Burberry Garnet. It’s tricky for me since I work from home and don’t wear makeup unless I leave the house (weekends or sometimes a weekday if I’m off or have an appt.) So I wore the LQ in Saint (wine) Saturday and the Medieval on Sunday (Casual day so Garnet was too opaque for my outfit)…until my daughter gave me Burberry in Oxblood (Sunday) which I immediately switched to!

Nail polishes are a bit easier since I do a fresh mani weekly. I didn’t care for the Zoya Naked mani I did this past weekend but will probably leave it until Friday night…I’ll either use the Dark Like Me (Smith & Cult) if it shows up by then or the JINSoon in Mica that my daughter bought me. I tend to rotate my manis between bold and subtle shades so it looks different each week.

Michele @Binxcat4ever Avatar

I had been afraid to try LQ again after the (IMO) unsupported hype for Frog Price (great packaging, meh product…gave it away). Saint (wine) is very, very nice. It’s extremely moisturizing and even on my pretty pigmented lips gives a nice sheer wine color. After I get my sheer lipsticks inventoried and organized when my new 3 holders arrive, I may purchase an additional shade. Medieval is supposed to be a sheer stain in the “perfect red that anyone can wear”. It is, as described on their website a blood red – so it leans deeper and a tad warmer. On me, it has a “just bitten” look and is nice but, for me, I’m not sure it was worth the $24 as it looks very, very natural. I think simply using a tinted balm would accomplish the same thing on me. I’ll keep it, as it is moisturizing, but I think someone who prefers a more natural look might appreciate it more than I do.

Haul: colourpop lippie stix in silk and boogie, colourpop ultra mattes in teeny tiny, silhouette, stingraye, chilly chili, and more better, Maybelline super stay color in unlimited raisin (they’re not kidding about the super stay part), NARS audacious lipstick in Deborah (as a gift), stila liquid lipstick in amore (as a gift), and a couple more gifts that haven’t arrived
Weekend plans: sleeping, holiday shopping, hopefully getting a hair appointment
I don’t own a watch, my phone is my watch

Great picture! Wouldn’t that make a perfect Christmas card?

Haul:
*e.l.f. — Matte Lip Color in Mulberry Maven (love!) and Rowdy Rouge; Lip Kiss Balm in Kissing Coral, Pouty Raspberry, Pucker Pink, and Smoochy Spice; Sculpting Face Brush; Selfie Ready Foundation Brush; 5 bottles of Mist & Set.
*Ulta — Nyx Liquid Suede in Life’s A Beach, Tea and Cookies, and Orange County; Real Techniques Mini Brush Trio.
*Other — Kat von D Monarch palette; empty lip gloss tubes for decanting lip tars; Shany Boutique 40 Color Palette (brights).

Weekend plans: Take my older son to Eugene to visit relatives for the week. Put up the Christmas tree and outside lights. Cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping (as always).
.
Do you still wear a watch? Not really. My severe nickel allergies prevent me from wearing watches except for Simply Whispers (they have zero nickel in their manufacturing plant, so not even the drying racks have nickel particles). I do have a watch from them with interchangeable bezels and straps that I occasionally wear. I also have a antique gold cuckoo clock pendent that I wear occasionally. Mostly I use my cell phone, though.

My Collector’s Set came two days ago 🙂 In love. And truly a great companion piece to the 30-30 for the most part (barring the cross-over shades but that’s pretty minimal). It has a wonderful sort of burgundy theme running through it that became more visible upon use. Plus, now I’m not worried about needing to replace some of my favorite singles (Morello Cherry was getting down to the nitty-gritty there!). I think I prefer the Neutral tray in the 30-set just for variety sake, but this one added some nice highlights and definitely some much needed contour shades (30-30 had some great ones as well but this adds a deeper option as well as a much lighter option and a rosier option. And some lovely crease shades as well! Both warm and contour-friendly). Coral and Mandarin layered together make such a lovely orange-kissed coral. Great mix of undertones. And the texture was equal to or in some cases better than the regular single form (weirdly. But Blackberry is still its best in the smaller Studio one I have. Great here but that one’s slightly more fab). Such a great value piece for pros but I imagine it being super useful for non-pros as well much like the 30-30. Great for any skin tone (I’ve already tested that with this one, but of course this is a feature of the Artist Shadows in general).

My only complaint is that the shade guide is merely a sticker on the bottom which is definitely going to peel off eventually as it’s lugged around to work with me (won’t be as much of an issue for those who use it at home gently). Of course since it’s a customizable 30-slot palette it’s good that this one doesn’t have shade names and I wasn’t expecting anything of the sort since the 30-30 is the same way. But the 30-30 came with a lovely shade guide slip included that helped you quickly identify what you were using/where you needed to look. Having it on the bottom is not helpful. I have to manually remove the shades to check the bottom for the number I’m using at any given moment (and I have most of these memorized but it’s still a pain when I’m coming up with a recommendation or people ask what shade I’m using). Maybe my slip just didn’t make it in? But yeah, the slip included didn’t have any shade info in mine.

No surprise since I’ve been obsessing about these shadows with you since they released, Christine, but highly recommended to everyone. These big sets are such a great way to get a value if someone is planning on buying lots of the Artist Shadows. And if it’s too much, that lovely 15-shade set and other options are still around. The big Collector’s kit is not on Sephora anymore but it’s still on the MUFE site for now if anyone’s been seeking it out. There isn’t a dud in the set. I’ve tested every shade and it’s completely beautiful. No exceptions. Every shade is worth it. And the palette itself is a great thing to have and full of value on its own. Very easy to change these out and since nothing is limited edition you can refill if you hit pan on a frequently-used shade.

I’d say hope you like it, but of course you know exactly what you’re getting here 😛

Christine Avatar

It is a gorgeous set of shades, though why I bought it having them already, I can’t tell you 🙁

I’m bummed to hear it didn’t come with a better manual (haven’t opened mine yet). I can’t remember 95% of the shades in the range since they don’t have clear names, lol.

Thanks for the tip that it is still on MUFE’s website!

Very small haul this week: Purchased Bobbi Brown luxe lip color in Brocade, a gorgeous bright plum and paired with Bobbi Brown’s Pink Sequin lip gloss, which screams the holidays! I ordered Charlotte Tilbury’s Fallen Angel palette and eyeliner combo and the Bitch Perfect lipstick, which qualified for a deluxe sample (I chose the Magic Cream).

Weekend plans: to enjoy the unusually warm December weather and clean up around the house.

Watch: I would be completely lost without my watch.

Do you still wear a watch? I hardly ever wear watches because I hate how big they are in my wrists..I'm not much of a wrist jewelry person anyway.

I bought a ton of stuff on Saturday at Shopper’s Drug Mart and the great thing is that – honestly, I’m not making it up – it was all FREE! I got it with the Optimum points I amass all year long:

Lise Watier Sun Smart (it’s a facial sunscreen that acts very much like a primer as well), Lise Watier Ombre Souffle cream eyeshadow in Vert Enchantee (think MAC Antique Diamond or Chanel Epatant), Stila’s Trust In Love palette (I got the last one in the store and the SA threw in a little bag that is actually really nice – lots of large “jewels” on it and it will be perfect for an evening bag for the Indian wedding we’re going to), a new bottle of Clarins Super Restorative eye cream; 2 Stila Stay All Day liners (one for me, one for my daughter’s stocking), a 3-piece set of Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh (spray eau de toilette, shower gel and body lotion) and a body lotion from Estee Lauder in the Pleasures fragrance (it was on sale in their marked down fragrance area). Quite the greedy little haul!

Weekend plans: no idea at all!

Do you still wear a watch? – I wear a fitbit which includes a watch (it’s the “Charge HR” model). If I didn’t, I’d still wear a watch as I teach high school and need to be aware of the correct time (often, the clocks don’t work at all!)

Mariella Avatar

I do this a few times a year, Christine. Shoppers is a really large drug store – they carry high and drugstore cosmetic and skin care brands as well as basics like milk, eggs, water (hubs needs distilled water for his CPAP machine), magazines, etc. so the points add up quickly when I shop during their frequent “20 times the points” events. So in a very short time, I usually amass $200 dollars worth of points. One of their stores near me carries Guerlain (though not the whole line) and that’s where I treat myself to indulgences from that line.

Haul: Way too much stuff! This is 2 weeks because I skipped last week. But, I did score a lot of deals between Black Fri. and Cyber Mon. and a triple points Nordstrom day!
Tatcha skincare (me too:) ), Givenchy Le Rouge in Grenate Inite, Rose dressing and Rose Plumitis ( I returned the too small minis and got full sized) ,#9,10,&12 Bite Lab, Bite Shiraz Luminous Crème lipstick, Bobbi Brown gloss set, Bobbi Brown university eyes palette, Bobbi Brown pigment liner-plum, Armani eye tints #16&17,Ecstasy lacquer in Boudoir and Night Berry,& four Hundred, UD Gwen palette, 2 loccitane hand cream creams in original Shea butter( 5oz tubes for the house), ABH Purple Rain gloss and gloss set, Stila sending my love set ( think I’m gifting this to a niece- of course the outer box is dented slightly by Ulta’s shipping, Nice job Ulta!, ColourPop Strobing I set and various gel liners, Nar Silvia and Liv, and Charlotte Tilbury On the Prowl, Becca corrector/concealer and Backlight primer. So Much!!! It’s literally still in boxes. I so need a breather after the Holidays. But, I saw Spring ’16 rollout already this am! whaaat?!!
Weekend plans; I have to go buy my daughter’s “big gift”, an Ipad mini. She is doing stuff with a friend after school. so, sneaking that in and I have to get my labs drawn. My medication was titrated up too quickly. So, I’m having to get blood drawn every 3 days. Not fun. But, at least I know a reason for feeling so lousy.
A watch: I have a fossil watch that looks like a cuff bracelet that I wear now and then. other than that, I wear one when I work on the floor at the hospital or in the clinical setting. I’m a nurse and you need the second hand for various things. 🙂
Happy weekend everyone

Thanks Christine! I bought purple rain the on Black Fri. , Then I got the set the next day ( both from Macy’s) the whole time totally forgetting that ABH was having the sale!
As far as snagging goodies, I definitely have gotten a lot! But, this is the first year I actually realized beauty went on sale for Black Fri/ Cyber Mon beside the sets, holiday editions.
I always enjoy coming back and reading the free for haul comments. 🙂

Love your tree! And Mellan looks his usual beautiful self in the Christmas hat. Just gorgeous. We put up our tree last week, with Olivia helping. Since then she has re-arranged some of the decorations on the lower branches a few times.
Haul: My bareMinerals the Exotic Escape has just arrived and it is gorgeous – the colours are Editor’s Pick (teal), Undercover (grey), High Life (cream) and Indulge ( a light, soft grey). Very cool toned and beautiful.
Weekend Plans: Just the usual and on Sunday, it is my daughter-in-law’s father’s birthday, so we are going to that celebration.
Watches: Nope – don’t wear one any more.

Haul: A bunch of stuff came in actually. Some copper string lights to decorate the place, a nice tree skirt, my Christmas tree, of course, and a wreath. Beauty-wise, some stuff from The Body Shop came in, and a Charlotte Tilbury package should arrive today. I also placed my order on Sephora (after having to call to get my holiday gift card thing as it wasn’t sent to me) and got two lipsticks- one Marc Jacobs and one Burberry. Then because the Burberry LE cream eyeshadow I was originally going to get was sold out sometime between yesterday and today (I should have called yesterday argh!) I ended up cracking and ordering it off Nordstrom. So yeah, definitely too much, but meh.

Weekend plans: Try to decorate the tree as much as my arms allow, maybe wrap a few presents if I can. Other than that just rest up mainly. Also play with the cats, but that’s pretty much a given.

Do you still wear a watch?: Yes, but not all the time. I have a Skagen one that’s very simple but with a somewhat large watchface and simple band. It’s just very “Scandi” in terms of design which I love. I tend to wear it when I head out of the house most of the time.

Christine Avatar

Where do you use the string lights, Anne? We just put up our tree this past week, and it feels nice. There was a moment where I felt, “Oh my god, I just unpacked my house, I don’t want to unpack my tree, too!”

Hope you were able to decorate your home this weekend! Rest easy 🙂

I have regular fairy lights for the tree, but the copper ones are really nice when wrapped around things like this gorgeous piece of driftwood my mom got years ago, and also gathered up into one of those round paper lamp shades for a very ethereal effect. Since they’re really flexible but then stay in place they’re perfect for wrapping around vertical things like floor lamp posts as well.

I’m lucky in that I have a live tree so there’s no unpacking, and since it’s my first Christmas in Portland, I got to go to a tree farm for the first time and pick one out that was still in the ground (and it was super cheap because it’s Oregon and Noble Firs grow like weeds here). My cat is very intrigued by it as I wasn’t allowed a live tree in Canada for the last 4 years and never got around to getting a fake one, so it’s just like “big tree in the house for no reason”.

Mellan is so awesome! He looks really cute in his hat. =) How is he liking his new environment? Furthermore, how are you enjoying your new home in Arizona?

Haul: I decided to get the UD Gwen Stefani palette after studying the Temptalia swatches, seeing Leesha’s swatches (similar skin tone to my own), and watching Tara’s application… and it totally makes up for my disappointment over the Vice 4 palette! I also bought some blotting papers to see what they are like as I’ve never used them, and the Jack Black lip balm set from Sephora to use as a stocking-stuffer.

Weekend plans: We’ll be doing the tree thing this weekend and I’ll work on the rest of the holiday decor throughout next week. I have three or four smaller trees that I place around the house. Oh! And candles! I need to get those out and start burning them! I love the scent of apple, cinnamon, and cranberry around the holidays!

Do you still wear a watch?: I have several watches that were purchased years ago but I can’t remember the last time I actually wore one. My husband will often carry a pocket watch when we go out because he knows they are special to me. My grandfather always carried one, and I adored my grandfather, so I buy a new pocket watch for my husband almost every year. He really likes them and has quite a collection now. Some are really beautiful to look at. =)

He’s adjusting still. I thought he was doing well, but he actually ate a corner where two baseboards met. We think he may have started working on it during Halloween (we were home, but he was in my office with a gate up, so we could deal with trick-or-treaters) and then he went after it again the next morning, but we aren’t 100% sure. He’s NEVER eaten part of my house before, LOL! Other than that, he’s been pretty much the same dopey dog that he usually is! I thought he was adjusting really well, but that incident made me a little more wary so I’m trying to pay more attention to helping him adjust. We are enjoying our home, though 🙂

I’m so glad you’re loving your new UD palette, Cat! Happy to hear it is working well. It is a nice palette!

Awww… poor Mellan. When we first moved, Raz, our cockapoo, had more seizures for a while (he’s epileptic). Being in a new environment can be exciting for dogs, a whole new adventure, but it can also be stressful and actually make them homesick as they miss the comfort of familiar surroundings. To top it off, there was the added excitement of Halloween for Mellan, which can be stressful for any pet.

I don’t know if you burn candles or otherwise fragrance your home, but you may want to do that with the same fragrances you used in your previous residence. It won’t completely cover up the “foreign” scents (that’s going to take about six months) but it may help. As you know, dogs experience the world more through their noses than any other sense.

I know you love him dearly so he’s in the best of hands. Sometimes it just takes time for everyone to fully adjust. Since having a dog is like having a perpetual four-year-old, it really is like dealing with a child. I found some information online in case you’re interested. Perhaps something mentioned might help.

Thanks, Cat! I don’t use much fragrance in the house (here or before), but I might have something he may be familiar with. I actually bought and read three books on dog behavior/separation anxiety, lol!

We thought he was doing so well, but apparently it caught up on him – he’s a dog that lives and dies by his routine (we are routine people), and since mid-July, it’s been chaos (decluttering our first home, selling it, and then the actual move!).

Thank you again 🙂

Haul: None yet, I finally returned my stuff to Sephora that got busted in my shipment. I still haven’t gotten my code either. POOP!

Weekend plans: Just got back from playing with the pup, will run some errands tomorrow, and will play games with friends on Saturday as per usual. Then Sunday it’s off to the store!

Watch: No, I don’t! I never really did though!

Laura Avatar

Haul: Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage Eye Shadow, Love lust blush. Lemmings killed! And a pair of Del Toro slippers that are bright blue velvet, J Brand Jeans with big buttons, and Sam Edelman Petty boots (More lemmings slayed)

Weekend plans: Working at the hospital tomorrow from 8am-8pm, then nails Sunday, hang out with husband and dog

Do you still wear a watch?: Yes! Apple Watch tells me date and time, and when to stand up:)

Nancy T Avatar

He’s the best present because his loyalty and love are priceless! So is his adorable face!

Haul: Well, I was supposed to go out on my haul late yesterday, but instead got a horrible migraine, went home from my Remicade treatment instead, figured I’d do it today, plus pick up my pre-saled MAC Shaft Of Gold….my mistake was taking my migraine meds at bedtime on an empty stomach. Sick as all heck today because the aspirin and caffeine in it activated my gerd (mine is from the Crohn’s). Stuck home ALL day in agony. Sad, too!!! ?

Weekend plans: Nothing concrete, have to wait and see how I feel tomorrow. I’ll try to go to MAC and Sephora, though.

Do you still wear a watch: No, not since I got my first cellphone 11 years ago. Unless I had a job interview!

Nancy T Avatar

Our furbabies need to have a bit of a swollen head once in awhile! ?

Thanks, a little bit better once my neighbor gave me enough Prilosec to get till Monday when I can call my Dr. and get back on them again. Also downing probiotic mini drinks and yogurt, Maalox helps too.

Yes, I did go over yesterday, Sephora first, used my $20 coupon on something EXTRA nice! Then to MAC. The store is now back on the 2nd floor as they had finished refurbishing it. Way too crowded, busy, chaotic and CLAUSTROPHOBIC! But I am wearing Shaft Of Gold today! It is so gorgeous. So is VG II lipstick!

Love Mellan in his Santa hat in front of that beautifully decorated tree!

Haul: Paul and Joe Carnaval set, cheek colour in 004 and cute cheek compact cover with a robin with a hat on. Bareminerals tinted gel and 5 in 1 eye primer. Lookfantastic Xmas beauty boxes nos 1-3, am keeping one and giving the other 2 to friends. Stila Sending my Love set, it looks lovely ?. I’m loving opening my Lookfantastic advent calendar, so far I’ve got a Morrocanoil deluxe bottle, Lord & Berry pink lipgloss, Redken Diamond hair mask and a mini Glamglow tube.

Plans for weekend: I need my iron infusion and I’m getting so weak and breathless that I can’t wait for Wed when I’m booked in. I’m phoning the hospital tomorrow to see if they can give it to me tomorrow instead.

Do I still wear a watch? Yes, all the time! I currently have a Pebble smartwatch which is great, but I have quite a few other watches as well. I collect watches a bit! The Pebble is a bit bulky and not very pretty so I swap it round when I go out in a nice outfit.

Do you still wear a watch?: A watch? What’s that? Oh, it tells time…like my phone? Haha, just kidding. I actually have a very nice rose gold watch but I never wear it.

Vanessa Avatar

Haul: Sephora Collection Color Wonderland Palette, Anastasia Self-Made palette, Too Faced Black Friday mascara/eye primer set, and Sephora Collection Holographic Lip Gel in Good Fairy.

Weekend Plans: Finish packing the kitchen and clean the storage room.

Do You Still Wear A Watch?: Sometimes. I was given a beautiful Betsey Johnson watch that’s entirely covered in white crystals for my 22nd birthday a few months ago. I don’t wear it that often because I’m paranoid something will happen to it!

Vanessa Avatar

I’ve been playing around with it and I really like it! Like of a lot of palettes, shimmers perform the best while the mattes need a little more work, like primer and/or a white base. Since I’m moving really soon, I packed up all my makeup except the really basic, everyday essentials and this palette, since there’s a lot variety to create whatever I want still.

jaz Avatar

Haul: laura mercier shadow stick in rose gold (returning , sadly) , mufe eyeliner , Becca blush in lantana, l’occitane mini shower oil. Oh, maybe a few covergirl palettes if I can get my hands on them today

Watch: sometimes. However, when I get my doctorate I most likely will start wearing a watch because in the field I’m going into , it won’t look professional to look at my phone all of the time. But that is at least 3 years down the line though

Tova J Avatar

Haul: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. I have a few packages I’m waiting for though! (Can you believe I went to Stockholm without going to Sephora and spending all my money???? Me neither!!)
Weekend plans: I have too much school work I’ve been procrastinating that I have to finish now 🙁
Do you still wear a watch?: Nope, I don’t even own one!

Got the Trust in Love palette for a gift, after your positive review. Even more positive was the only $14 I had to spend at Ulta. For an A-, very pleased. Now to keep it safe from her 6 y.o. sister!
Plans: SSDW.
Watch: yes. I eschew phones for ‘psychological reasons,’ though I do use an iPad, which as I was upbraided, is ‘nothing but a big phone.’ Got a an easily readable Swiss Army for my mum, inherited it, and replaced it. But my watch loves are the 1937 Hamilton, that was my mother’s engagement present to my father, and a 33 Hamilton that belonged to my maternal grandfather. Keeping them ordered is as costly as new ones, and all the watchmakers are retiring. That’s why I wear the Swiss Army
