Fenty Beauty Mocha Mami Sun Stalk'r Bronzer Review & Swatches
Mocha Mami
Fenty Beauty Mocha Mami Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer ($30.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish-brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a soft, lightly powdery texture–it was the softest powder in the range–that had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation, but it was definitely more pigmented than it was sheer or buildable. The color applied fairly evenly and blended out without much effort but did take a little more time to spread across my skin compared to some shades in the range (including the shade one step down from this one, Coco Naughty). The bronzer lasted well for nine hours on me before it started to show signs of fading.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have "long-wear" that is "transfer-resistant," "easy to blend, and "light-as-air" with buildable coverage that "is hard to overdo." The pigmentation was more medium to semi-opaque with some shades being nearly opaque in a single layer. For truly buildable pigmentation, I would recommend using a light hand initially or a less-dense brush to pick up and to apply the product.
The texture was lightweight, thin, and finely-milled without being too powdery, which did make it easier to control to build up coverage. Some shades were more blendable than others but none were difficult to work with. As these had a true matte finish, I wouldn't apply them over wet or still-drying foundation as that tends to make matte, powder products harder to apply and can also cause them to darken/look patchy. They applied similarly over bare skin (I'm normal-to-dry) as they did over foundation that was lightly set with powder.
They lasted between eight and nine hours on me, and it didn't seem prone to transferring if I just dabbed at it with a napkin (transfer-resistant on a powder was an odd claim to see).

Because I knew that I have either CP Bits & Pieces or Rodeo Drive, I just attempted to lift it up from out of case and very stupidly did so with tweezers, leaving a few deep dings. ?
I had forgotten about the hole in the bottom for a pin. Anywho, it is Rodeo Drive. Would seem at first glance that these types of shades would be way to deep for me, but I apply this one and UD Jawbone with a light hand. So, yes, they work very nicely!
And not an ? in sight!
Girl, this color was made for dark skinned people. This is wayyyyy too dark for you. Plus, this is not where and how you apply bronzer… This review is useless…
Hi Snowie,
I applied this product the same as I would for most cheek products (though this is how I’ve also worn bronzer, and I double-checked and watched Fenty’s video on bronzer, and it was shown on the lower cheek area as well as other places, but I only apply on cheeks for photos!) – the purpose being to show how it blends out/the tone/the color – and as always, I apply things a little more heavily so that you can see the undertone and color better. Similarly, I often review as many shades from a range as I can, because I don’t review things that are for “me” or my coloring or whatever arbitrary box you want to put me in. I don’t have the kind of budget to hire models or anything like that, so it IS just me here doing the best I can for as many readers as possible! 🙂
The review talks about pigmentation, blendability, finish, how it goes on the skin, what the powder feels like, and how long it wears – please let me know why this information was useless as none of that has anything to do with what the color itself looks like on me!
Thankfully, if you find my reviews lacking in usefulness, there are tons of other bloggers to check out – so I highly recommend finding someone that suits your needs better as I can’t change my skin tone!
While this bronzer is a little heavy because that’s necessary for swatch and review purposes, the placement is appropriate. Although everyone should do their makeup in a way that they like, bronzer is typically applied on the high points of the face where the sun naturally hits, including the cheeks. Fenty did a video on their website that explains bronzer placement, and it matches Christine’s placement as well. If anyone is interested in the product but new to bronzer check out the Fenty website for some short tutorials as a starting point. It’s not the only way to do it though, and no one should feel bad for not doing their makeup the “right” way. It’s supposed to be fun.
Well-said, Mimi!! 🙂
I like this! I’m still a bit on the fence about buying it. I was hoping Coco Naughty would work as a soft bronzer, but neutral undertones usually look cool on me. Glad to see this review
