Fenty Beauty Confetti Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Confetti
Fenty Beauty Confetti Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick ($25.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a light, bluish lavender with cool undertones and blue and lavender pearl and larger sparkle/micro-glitter. It had semi-sheer coverage that wasn’t buildable beyond that, as the larger sparkles in the shade seemed to clump up as I tried to build up the coverage, and it just looked thick, heavy, and patchy. This shade did not apply well over foundation as it shifted the base around, but it was more forgiving on bare skin, though there it looked like sparse glitter sitting on the skin. It had a drier texture, too, compared to other shades in the range, and it only seemed to get drier and almost grainy after four uses, which made it progressively more challenging to use. On my skin, it lasted for six hours before there was significant sparkle traveling/fallout.

Formula Overview
$25.00/0.25 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be long-wearing with a “light-as-air,” “blendable” texture that “lives to be layered." They twist-up and are medium-sized with a domed edge. I found that applying to my fingertips worked better than direct application, as it enabled me greater control over coverage level as well as placement, and if you tend to apply over foundation, then this will help keep the Match Stix cleaner, too.
The texture was thin, and it did seem to go from a “cream” in the tube to a more powder-like product once on the skin. They were fairly blendable with a few being more sparkly with less visible base color, which may not be for everyone, and others had a more pearl-like sheen that didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. Most shades applied and blended out without lifting up foundation or pulling into pores (over bare skin), but the ones that did tended to have larger particles in them. They lasted between six and eight hours on me.
A problem I had throughout just swatching each shade on my cheeks for photos was that whatever was exposed was a bit dry, more powdery to the touch, and I felt like I had to really warm the product up and/or swipe it back and forth on the back of my hand to refresh the texture. This is not uncommon with drier, cream-based formulas, but it's still a downside and an area that could be improved upon. Some shades were very pigmented, others were medium and buildable, and a couple were sheerer.

Yikes! Not pretty!
Yeah, this was definitely one of the worst performers in the range!
Whoops, best to get colourpop I guess.
At least that would be cheaper 🙂
Oooof! Well then-I guess I’ll be sticking with Milk’s Supernova for my sparkle needs. As an aside Supernova is the only LE products I’ve ever bought a backup of-its great. Thanks for letting us all know hah!
Glad you found a winner there 🙂
Derp! I was thinking of Milk’s Techno glitter stick, which is the LE product. Supernova is lovely too; Techno is a dang wonder. 🙂
I got this in the mail yesterday and it’s going back to Sephora today! Thank goodness for that return policy.
Aw, darn! 🙁
I just got this shade (but haven’t tried it yet) in hopes that it’d be better on top of foundation (and more bold) than the Milk Makeup Holographic Stick, buuuuuuut doesn’t look like it :/
It might seem more noticeable since the shimmer particles are larger but less of a sheen, more sparkle than sheen with this particular shade!
I love mine. I don’t often go for glitter but thought this one was so beautiful and fun. I wouldn’t wear it to work because of the glitter, but I wear it all weekend. I was the sparkliest person in the hardware store 😛
So disappointed that the texture and resulting application is just so….sucky. Because the shade itself is lovely looking and ethereal.
Then again, I know I don’t actually need it. I do have Nyx Lavender Steele and CP Monster. Yet still; wish it had been better!
Great alternatives that you have in your stash! 🙂
I bought this one. It was quite striking and lovely when I swatched it in the store. There are definitely better purple highlighters though, and I would not rebuy this one.
Oh no, it sounds like it didn’t live up to expectations!
Your comments definitely on par with a few other reviews. How unfortunate. I really do not care for the larger sparkles either.
Yeah, I think the larger sparkles make it a hit or miss product!
Yikes!!! For $ 25, and with Rihanna’s name on it, I wasn’t expecting a D, but the swatch looks terrible and the formula sounds seriously flawed. All of the dupes scored better than hers and most of them are cheaper too. I’ll stick to CP Monster . Hoping the other colors do better, as I’m eyeing a couple of them
There are better ones in the range for sure!
I really like confetti! The sparse blue glitter exactly reminds me of actual confetti, but yet it is not too crazy.
I agree it is not as smooth in terms of formula to the others, so if you’ve bought it, I would recommend using your fingers to warm up the product and apply directly on your face.
Of course, if you are considering between colourpop or fenty, colourpop’s a lot more value for money ?
Swatched this shade, along with the other purple shade, Unicorn, in Sephora. Nope. But Starstruck & Trippin were winners. Used both on cheek & eyes
Ugh. I had such high hopes for this brand.
I found this product awesome to use as a shadow or underneath a lipgloss it worked well with my tan skin tone
Ouch! Gritty and dry! UG.
I don’t understand brands/chemists that recommend using chunky glitter/shimmer in any highlighter but especial a cream form. Just because you can put it in doesn’t make it look good on the skin.
Leave the glitter loose to work with a glitter glue. 😉
This was the weakest of the Shimmer Match Stix that I tried. The other ones do not move my foundation at all, but this one does. I can still get it to work if I use my fingers and then blend it out with a brush. The glitter doesn’t bother me b/c it falls in line with the name Confetti. I look at it as it looks like glitter confetti fell all over the face, idk, maybe my brain is weird in thinking that, lol. Plus, when I swatched it in store, I saw how glittery it was and still thought it looked really pretty. But it looks really pretty on brown skin. I’m wearing it now over the stix Rum and it looks really good.
It looks really pretty over her other stix or other highlighters, but I’m on the fence about whether I’m keeping it b/c I love the look of it but I hate all of the extra work I have to put in to get it to look nice. Plus it will require me remembering that this one stix can’t be applied straight to the face like the other ones, and my memory is not always the best; especially, when I’m rushing.
I am so torn on this one, I had the same experience with this as you. I read a tip to warm it up on the back of your hand, so I do so with my finger and put it over a white highlight, I looooove the color but I’m not sure if it’s worth the work for $25 and then removing the makeup from the back of your hand. Not sure if I should return or not.
I purchased this shade and love it, comes out really pigmented on me (I apply to back of hand then brush it on high points).
I’ve also used it as a shadow base for “Celestial” in the Desert Dusk palette and it just makes the shadow topper pop.
As always though, what works for one might not work for the next person. It’s a real shame you didn’t get the results you were after 🙁
While I don’t love this as a face highlighter, I’ve been enjoying it on the eyes. Especially as a fun inner corner highlight. However, I’ve also found that applied directly on my bare eyelids is a fun way to spice things up without actually having to wear other eye makeup. Especially in the heat!
