A bronzey-golden combo ( MAC Woodwinked, Antiqued. Soft Brown type combo) , a purple-tinged taupy smoky combo ( MAC Satin Taupe, Handwritten, Nyx Beanie, Root Beer, etc.), Plum smoky eye! ( Sketch, Sta Violet, or UD Bondage, Alchemy, Sonic and Lucky) or PURPLES!

Vivid purples with a pop of chartreuse or acid green on the bottom lid, with black, teal or dark green liner on the upper lashline and waterline.

Golden olives and khakis with bronze or black liner.

Burgundies, berries and pinks with browns and nudes, with black or brown liner.

Bronze with a purple or navy or teal crease, or anything from the Naked 3 palette. My favorite colorful combo for non-working days is red/orange/yellow.

Here are my favorite combinations (like mixing warm and cool shadow since my eyes are mix of warm golden brown and cool green-blue): cool rosy-mauve beige & medium warm taupe; warm light grey & cool dark rose, light warm peach & cool medium brown, coral & forrest green, orange & blue/violet, cool light gold & warm olive green, light cool rose & warm plum, light cool beige & medium warm brown.
I prefer when there is a clear duo combination like one above. If it is a quint, additionally to those two colors there must be one highlighter shade for inner eye (champagne, very pale rose/lilac/gold/silver or white) and some more intense darker version of a second color in a duo (e.g. brown, green, plum, violet) to be used as a liner or in a crease for an evening makeup.

Yellow and gray is a good one. I’ve been doing nude lid and brilliant green crease lately and that’s really working for me. “Tiger” eyes of gold to deep bronze with white highlight and black liner. Gold and burgundy is another favorite. Most days I work tonally rather than mixing colors.

I don’t have an actual “preference”, as I like a great deal of colors/combinations, and it all depends on many factors what I wear on a given day. That said, when I’m short on time/energy, I gravitate toward taupe shimmers & matte medium/dark charcoal browns.

For a simple look with maximum impact I love champagne and teal. Just a wash of a shimmering champagne colour over the lid, maybe contouring a bit with a deep brown and teal eyeliner, top or bottom or both. Definitely a favourite. As an alternative I might switch up the eyeliner to a bright purple, as I love that colour too. 🙂

I have to say I’m a plain girl, sometimes 😉 So pink on the lids with several tones of brown in the crease for an everyday look, and when going out, I say PURPLE smokey eye…I have a major obsession for purple… Love how you’re getting people to interact with each other! 🙂

I would love to see a demonstration of a “mermaid eye”. If you have done that in any of your looks, please point me in that direction! I am really bad at getting in ruts. So, I am so grateful for this post. This entire fall and winter, i have been habitually doing mostly a plum with either golds, greys, or neutrals. I have thrown a teal or purple instead of the plum. But, in winter I am really not creative. I would really love how to learn to wear bright pink without looking dead. or to get a good dark smokey eye without looking like I should be on the street corner.

Thank you for the inspiration and making me feel like I need a beach,STAT!.( It has poured snow hear and it like -2 degrees .So the hard winter is taking it’s toll..beyond ready to move) . I may have to pull out a similar look soon to help overcome this blah weather! Gorgeous looks! are your “looks” in the “looks” section”? I occasionally do look through them for inpspiration..another great feature of your blog!

What a great question! I wear:
1. Charcoal greys with a light shimmery grey – EL Film Noir
2. Olives and gold: Dior 3 couleurs Olive with Half baked from Naked 1
3. Greens – Charlotte Tilbury the Rebel or Tarina Tarantino’s greens in her Wonderful palette
4. Blues – Elizabeth Arden’s Smoky Teal or Lancôme duo in Dark blue with an Arctic blue wash\
5. Neutrals – from the Naked 1 palette

Today I randomly wore peach on the inner half of my lid, silvery grey on the outer half and a kind of ivory cream on the browbone. Nothing in the crease because of my hooded eyes. I really liked it! It was light and cool and soft.

I love so many color combinations! Silver with dark blue; periwinkle with dark blue-violet; purple with silver, purple with gold; icy yellow with olive green; light pewter or taupe with deep gray; bright white with any shade of green; fuchsia with champagne and dark brown; I could go on and on, I like to keep trying new combinations.
