Too Faced Country Nashville Nudes Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Too Faced Country Nashville Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
Too Faced Country Nashville Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Too Faced Country Nashville Nudes Eyeshadow Palette ($36.00 for 0.39 oz.) includes nine eyeshadows; three are larger (0.07 oz. each) and six are smaller (0.03 oz. each). It’s an Ulta-exclusive palette that launches on June 1st. Some of the shades are really nice, some are lacking pigmentation, and a few are on the powdery side. If you usually use a primer, I think you’ll probably be okay, but it doesn’t work as nicely as the Rock ‘n’ Roll palette.

I double-checked with Too Faced, and they confirmed June 1st as the launch date on Friday (5/30). Unfortunately, I don’t have any other information on whether there is a new date, it’s simply late, or if there is some other reason for the delay. I highly suggest calling your local ULTA before making a drive to visit. Update on 6/3/14:  Too Faced says there are shipment delays to retailers at this time, and the palettes are now pushed back to end of the month.

Cowboy Take Me Away is a light peach with a satin finish. It had excellent color payoff, while the texture was soft, blendable, and smooth–not at all powdery. The color lasted for eight hours on me before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Y’all is a muted, golden brown with a frosted sheen. It had decent pigmentation, and the texture was blendable but somewhat powdery and wasn’t as smooth to apply. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Dolly is a dark, subtly cool-toned brown with a semi-matte finish. It had good color payoff, and the texture was fairly soft without being powdery. It lasted just over eight hours before I noticed fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Famous in a Small Town is a brightened, warm white with a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. It had great pigmentation, and the consistency of the powder was soft, smooth, and buttery. The color stayed on the lid well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Paper Roses is a medium, warm-toned pink with gold shimmer and a frosted finish. It had really good color coverage, and the texture was soft, blendable, and smooth. This shade managed to wear well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Rhinestone is a muted, dark eggplant purple with neutral undertones and a soft, pearly finish. It had decent color payoff, but it could have been more intense, and the texture was somewhat powdery, which made it prone to sheering out on the lid. It would be best applied over a primer or slightly tacky base. It looked faded before eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

All American Girl is a golden ivory with a frosted sheen. It was semi-sheer, and the texture was very thin–almost hard but not really stiff–which gave it a very smooth application, but the payoff wasn’t there. This shade showed signs of creasing after seven hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Nashville is a muted, cool-toned, gray-purple with a soft, frosted finish. It had good color payoff, and the texture was fairly soft and buttery, though just a bit powdery. The color lasted well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bluebird is a sparkling, navy blue with cool undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It was dry, almost chunky in a way, though the shimmer isn’t glitter and feels somewhere between shimmer and sparkle in regards to particle size. It just didn’t bind well together, unfortunately, which made it harder to work with. The color started to crease after seven hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This palette is very cute. The overall quality seems to be kind of mediocre though, so I won’t be buying. That being said, if you’re going to name an eyeshadow in a country palette “Dolly”, than it needs to be the sparkliest pink eyeshadow you’ve ever made. Not a matte brown. Nothing could be more un-Dolly than a matte brown

I really like the colors in this palette. The white packaging looks so nice, too.
I just can’t get on board with the palette theme/eyeshadow names 🙁 (this also applies to the Rock n Roll palette)

Thanks Christine I am in love with this been following the blog for a while I really want both the Rock N’ Roll and the Country. If I can only splurge for one it will be this one overall I love the look of the pinks, purples and the blues in this one which will fit with a lot of my summer looks.

Robin Avatar

Christine, would you purchase this knowing two of the color didn’t perform well or were long lasting? Love the colors, but I kinda want all the colors to work in a kit. Know what I mean?

Thank you for the review!

Christine Avatar

Hey Robin!

For the price, one or two misses is doable for me, and if you normally wear eyeshadow primer, then the wear should improve and be fine. An eyeshadow primer will also help some of the lesser shades perform better. When I first started wearing makeup, I thought primer was a must… like all eyeshadows would fail without it, but once I started reading what brands said about them, I realized that they were really saying you can wear them as-is. The more I did it, the more I discovered a lot hold up quite well (but I don’t have really oily lids, so there is also that). Even so, a tube of primer lasts so long that it’s probably an extra step and precaution I’d take if I needed my makeup to last well for longer than 8 hours 🙂

I think this is adorable but is probably not so flattering on my more tan skin tone. Would love to see it on some more fair ladies though!

Wednesday Avatar

Uhmm…yeah, not so interested anymore. Caveat: I have a ton of eyeshadows so at this point and it’s going to take a seriously special palette to draw me in. I really like Nashville, it’s gorgeous, but it reminds me of one of the colours in my TF Orchid Haze palette. Pass on this one and since Ulta doesn’t sell to Canada 😛

Looks like a slight miss. I wanted to say that the beigy/whiteys and the two purples swatch rather similarly. They kind of do, but what I mean is they look vastly more different in the pan than they actually swatch. Which I guess, makes them somewhat lower in ‘true to pan’ rating. I believe I like my dupes better than most of these, esp. the blue in Chrysalis vs. Bluebird. You really do help us make informed decisions. One of the things i’ll do, esp. with a lippie, is like something, see what dupes i have, then go for one of the well rated dupes that is farthest from what I already have. Convoluted, but works for me! That’s how I settled on UD Gash, which i missed for the first time around. Also, you really do encourage us to revisit brands we thought were duds. I first bought 4 majorly ucky Stila products (lipstain pens, mascara + something else) that were just dreadful. Only got the best of kitten set since then, bec. after all, iconic IS iconic. That liner (starfish?) is excellent! But did I learn? Noooo! I had to see your reviews on the lovely (stay all day?) e/l before I even looked at the Stila display again. You look superb with mint in that mint + teal e/l look! And you certainly have taught me not to discount brands, due to a few duds. And that what we predict might be glorious, just could flop. We need you and appreciate you. Before the review, I though Country would be a go, but it’s a pass. Meditating on Monarch, which actually suits me better than either Naked 1 or 2. (speaking of getting what’s iconic…)

Hey, whatever works, I’m happy with, LOL! We try to build tools that allow readers the freedom to use them in a way that makes sense.

I’ve been there, too; a really bad experience with a brand without a lot of GOOD experiences prior can turn me off and make me really hesitant about trying anything else!

Genevieve Avatar

I think this palette is really pretty and it has such a lot of wearable colours to suit everyone. Although the brown seems out of place – why not a green?
By the way Christine. could you please do a review of mint eyeshadows? I love this colour but there are some wide variations in quality out there. Thanks.

Tara Avatar

Is Paper Roses the same as Jardin from the Too Faced A La Mode palette? It looks just like it. Are all the shades in this palette completely new/exclusive?

I like this palette…but I’m not freaking out in love with it like I was when I saw the promo images. I love Too Faced palettes, esp the 9 pan ones like this in the adorable tins. Rhinestone is a really beautiful shade. There are some really pretty shades in this but…it’s not what I thought it was going to be like based on the promo images. I’ll have to sleep on this one and look at the swatches again. Thank you so much for the review! 🙂

Christine Avatar

Hi Tara!

They’re not the same – http://www.temptalia.com/submit-dupe?sbs=1&pid=166451&dupe=162145

Too Faced didn’t specify if they’re exclusive or not, but based on their past palettes, it seems like they’re always “new” but they definitely get really close to other shades.

Sylirael Avatar

Hm, although the difficulty factor seems to be slightly higher than the Rock and Roll palette, I’m actually more excited by more shades in this one! For example, I really like the look of Bluebird, Nashville and Paper Roses…

…the catch, of course, is that 3 of the other shades (including all the largest pans) probably won’t show up on my skintone…(even though they are pretty)! 😛 Also, it’s not like we have Ulta here anyway, but still 😉

artemis Avatar

So cute, Paper Rose looks like a lighter version of a big cheap eyeshadow I got from Farmasi. Such a gorgeous, unique color!

Mine even has a gold duochrome, not just an usual shimmer, it looks like the Clinique pink and plenty dupe in compact powder form, from what I see, but with better quality, tho not long lasting, it looks gorgeous on and it looks great on any eye color(definitely on my mom’s gray-blue ones and my dark brown ones). Yay :))

Carrie Avatar

This is the first Too Faced palate to catch my eye in sometime, but I think I’m going to have swatch in store. I worry that they may be too light to show up on my skin!

Tara Avatar

Another question after comparing swatches – how does Bluebird compare to De La Mer from the Too Faced A La Mode palette? They look totally different in the pan but the swatches look similar. Thanks again! 🙂

Nubian_Queen15 Avatar

i love the names of the eyeshadows. i’m not American, but i can see the reference to ”country” style in the names. my favorite name is y’äll. pretty packaging as well. i wish Too Faced cosmetics were available where i live

Jennifer Avatar

I got the same thing, they know nothing about it. I called my local Ulta here in Columbus, GA and even to one in Alabama 🙁 VERY frustrating! I know it’s only day one, but for no one at any of my surrounding Ulta’s to even know what I’m talking about, it’s a turn off. I may just pass altogether due to the lack of communication.

Laura Avatar

I thought these were supposed to be released June 1, today. There is nothing at Ulta, in stores or on line and no one seems to know about them.

Amanda Avatar

Wow… I work at Ulta (there earlier today actually lol) and did not see this palette anywhere! Not on the shelf, in backstock or any signage, nothing. I hadn’t even heard about it. So apologies to anyone who has been looking for it but in Texas of all places we haven’t stocked it yet.

Glad I happened to stop in here today Christine- you helped me to help my customers! 🙂

Jennifer Avatar

I decided to call Too Faced today and was told beauty bloggers get items first so they can I review them. I told I was aware but asked why was temptalia.com advised that the palettes would be released June 1st? The only answer I got was that marketing must have made a mistake…. And that she was not sure when the Nashville or Rock n’ Roll would be released and that there should be an email that goes out. She offered to check Ulta’s website, but I told her it was on there yet. How can their own reps be this clueless? Very disappointed in Too Faced. I don’t blame Ulta at all.

Rebecca Avatar

Do you know when this palette will be available? I read June 1, but I check the ulta website every day and haven’t seen it yet! Thanks!

Rebecca Avatar

Any update on this? I received an e-mail from Too Faced saying their Cat Eyes fall collection will be out on the 17th. I hope that isn’t replacing the Country Eyes palette!

Christine Avatar

That’s just the third palette they’re releasing. I only received one update (which is posted towards the beginning post):

I double-checked with Too Faced, and they confirmed June 1st as the launch date on Friday (5/30). Unfortunately, I don’t have any other information on whether there is a new date, it’s simply late, or if there is some other reason for the delay. I think this palette is stunning!! Im setting my alarm for early Tuesday morning to make sure I get mine 🙂 These colors are so me 🙂 Thank you so much for the in depth review. I am such a Too Faced junkie!! ps, I love your eye look in your thumbnail! Can you share what you used for the look? Thanks!
Hugs,
Amy

This palette is so lovely. I’m excited to play around with this palette when it comes in the mail. The too faced website finally put up this palette! I really like the Nashville,Paper Rose, Bluebird, and Rhinestone.
