Wild Earth

Estee Lauder Wild Earth Pure Color Envy Luxe Eyeshadow Quad (Refill) ($44.00 for 0.21 oz.) managed to have one (!!) good eyeshadow in the bunch, which was an unexpected surprise after such dismal experiences with this range of eyeshadows/quads. The other three shades were still varying degrees of meh and so-so in quality.

Wild Earth #1

Wild Earth #1 is a brighter, coppery-red with warm undertones and flecks of gold and red sparkle.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" with "stay-true color" that won't smudge, crease, or settle into fine lines and doesn't "flake or dust onto face." The quality of the more matte shades was typically higher than the shimmer shades, but all of the finishes seeme to be particularly short-wearing and made it seem like my lids "ate" the eyeshadows quite quickly.

Some of the shimmers were drier and thinner, which resulted in uneven application and some fallout, particularly with the more sparkly shades. The matte eyeshadows were more pigmented and smoother on average but still were on the thinner side with slight to moderate powderiness, which resulted in light fallout and/or the color sheering out too readily on bare skin.

I meant my comment was tacky but that the grande dame would be horrified. She is one of the goddesses of the American beauty industry. Last midcentury, no one of us understood the trajectory of choices. I remember ‘PLASTICS!’ as the advice to Benjamin in the Graduate. I thought plastic bags were great, as they saved the forest. Certainly never thought microplastics would wind up in all sea life and there’d be trash hundreds of feet up in the Himalayas. Who would ever think that Jan 6 would happen, even with the election deniers? My parents are rolling now!

Oh my goodness — sounds like Estee Lauder is using (sad panda) UD’s eyeshadow formula these days. I remember being SO excited treating myself to EL years and years ago (when I started my first “real” job). Makes me kinda sad… 🙁
