Estee Lauder Violet Rain Pure Color Sequin Finish Lip Gloss

Estee Lauder Violet Rain Pure Color Sequin Finish Lip Gloss ($22.50 for 0.20 fl. oz.*) is a vibrant, nearly neon fuchsia-pink with iridescent fuchsia sparkle. It’s redder and more shimmered compared to Milani Flashy. MAC Gimme That! is redder, lighter, less shimmered. The color is opaque and extremely heavy in sparkle.  You can feel the sparkle a little bit, but it’s not too noticeable or gritty.  Because of the overall brightness and vibrancy of Violet Rain, it should complement most skin tones–it’s going to give you lots of oomph, pop, and contrast whether you’re pale, deep, warm, or cool.

This new (but limited edition) formula is supposed to have a high shine, long-lasting wear, and non-sticky.  It has a great glossy shine that wears for two to three hours, while the color and sparkle itself lingers for five to six hours.  The sparkle travels ever-so-slightly, but it manages not to travel to parts on unknown, and I only found a few stray sparkles outside of my natural lip line.  It’s slightly tacky but not what I’d describe as sticky.  This is scented with Estee Lauder’s signature fig scent, which is a softly sweetened fruit scent overall, but I didn’t detect any taste.  I also liked that it was somewhat hydrating, because even after six hours of wearing Violet Rain, my lips weren’t dying of thirst, but they did need a boost of moisture shortly after.

* When Estee Lauder sends samples, they are usually not in full retail packaging, so they do not come with outer boxes or real labels, which means I don’t have the official weight/volume of the gloss written on the package. I will call the Estee Lauder counter when they’re open today to get an official number. For now, I’m assuming it’s the same as the rest of the Pure Color Glosses.

That is a bright lip!  I’m surprised at how opaque it is and how much I like it 🙂  It looks like it would be a fun color for summer

daaaamn, this is gorgeous :O would’ve been perfect if the lil glitter/shimmer was redish pink instead of a cool fuchsia 😀 it looks so nice, no settling

… seriously? This is Estee?! /dying I’m not sure whether I ought to be flailing over (a) the gorgeous pigmentation of this gloss, or (b) the new Glossover format. Both are looking absolutely fabulous! 😉

So pretty! I just don’t like these purple reflects :/ I think it’s  looks kinda “cheapy”. BTW, loving your new layout

they obviously couldnt call it purple rain bc A: its not purple and B; im sure they wouldve run into some legal issues with that name but its not really violet either and the name is cheesy as all hell. its very nice looking but i wont buy it bc i HATE how estee lauder lip products smell, can you please tell them that lol:)

@Phoenix Days.. Not true sweety. I copied this from Estée Lauder. Com The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. is committed to the elimination of animal testing. We are equally committed to consumer health and safety, and bringing to market products that comply with applicable regulations in every country in which our products are sold.
We do not conduct animal testing on our products or ingredients, nor ask others to test on our behalf, except when required by law. We evaluate our finished products in clinical tests on volunteer panels.
Estée Lauder fully supports the development and global acceptance of non-animal testing alternatives. To this end, the Company works extensively with the industry at large and the global scientific community to research and fund these alternatives.

@Sharlie Gugel  @Phoenix Actually Estée Lauder sells it’s products in China. China requires cosmetic companies to test on animals to be able to sell there. That’s why there’s that little bit about “except required by law” in that statement.

Seconded on the smell. I have a rarely used lipstick because I hated that sickly sweet smell. I really wanted that gloss, but I know that it will be collecting dust…
