Estee Lauder Chrome, Gold, Pearl, Pink Gold Double Wear Stay in Place Eye Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Estee Lauder Chrome Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil
Estee Lauder Chrome Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil ($23.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium silver with a metallic sheen. It had so-so color payoff in a single stroke that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage in two to three layers. It glided on but seemed a little waxy. It lasted for nine hours on me, which is shy of the 12-hours promised. MAC Sterling Silver (P, $16.00) is lighter. bareMinerals Certainly Sterling (LE) is lighter. L’Oreal Silver Sky (290) (P, $8.99) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay Cuff (P, $19.00) is similar. MAC Silver Skates (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Bobbi Brown Chrome (LE, $24.00) is cooler-toned. Estee Lauder Gold Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil ($23.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one pass, and it was fairly buildable, but the consistency was a little too waxy so it didn’t build to fully opaque coverage. It lasted for nine and a half hours on me. MAC Twinked (P, $16.00) is similar. MAC $$$ (P, $16.00) is darker. Sephora Collection Girls Night Out (P, $9.00) is darker. NARS Las Ramblas (LE, $24.00) is yellower, lighter. Urban Decay Goldmine (P, $19.00) is similar. MAC Going for Gold (LE, $16.00) is darker. Giorgio Armani Antique (04) (LE, $28.00) is less yellow. Chanel Vegas Gold (LE, $28.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Estee Lauder Pearl Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil ($23.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a light white gold with warm, yellow tones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff and was rather waxy, so it was difficult to build up an even layer of color. It lasted for nine hours on me. MAC Snowed In (P, $16.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Venus (P, $19.00) is lighter. Sephora Collection Blonde Ambition (P, $9.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Estee Lauder Pink Gold Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil ($23.00 for 0.04 oz.) is a golden copper with warm undertones and a frosted finish. The color payoff was semi-sheer to semi-opaque, and it wasn’t buildable to much more than that. On me, the color wore well for nine hours before thinning noticeably. Sephora Collection Girl Talk (P, $9.00) is slightly darker. Giorgio Armani Copper (05) (LE, $28.00) is darker. Chanel Or Rose (LE, $30.00) is darker. Chanel Peche Cuivre (LE, $28.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

isn’t there a teal one??? i’m surprised we didn’t see that review first!!!
i have no light colored eye liners. how else would one wear them besides in the lower lash or waterline?
These ones are all LE! 🙂 Or not… apparently only Chrome/Pink Gold are LE.
These seem pretty disappointing for the price. They could have been beautiful.
They’re not particularly impressive 🙁
Damn… some of those look pretty bad.
They just could be better!
A for effort again her Christine and thank you for saving my wallet and making room for other fantastic products! I just got 4 of the TT liners I orderd upon your recommendation..I cannot wait to try!
Fingers crossed you love! xo
Wow, for $23, this needs to score higher. You can find better performing eye pencils at much cheaper prices among drugstore brands (L’Oreal, Essence) and mid-level brands (Sephora, UD, Mally, etc. ).
Agreed!!
Gold and Pink Gold are beautiful. I wish Pink Gold was more opaque though
Me too 🙁
hmm, kinda light for eyeliner .. ?
Monica.
They’re great for brightening 🙂
I love the idea of metallic pencil liner, but I don’t think I’d pick these at the price point. Maybe if they were $10 or under.
You can get better eyeliners elsewhere!
Oh MAN I expected better from EL eyeliners!!! I had the pearl and rose gold ones on my “to buy” list- not anymore!!!! Thanks Christine!!!
No prob, Bonnie!
Very plain neutral colours I would say. I don’t know that many would spend that kind of money on colours they probably have a lot of in their various palettes anyway.
They’re not high performing enough for the price 🙁
Thanks for your invaluable job!
I am disappointed greatly with the poor performance of these eyeliners, not least because they are clear tones and also on account of the high price.
I’m very excited about “Emerald Volt”. I hope that it will be much better.
Me too 🙁 I thought they’d be more pigmented.
Hmm, well on the bright side, Pearl has inspired me to try brightening up my lower last line with a highlight shade! It’s a gorgeous colour, but I’d rather see if I can use eyeshadow.
Eyeshadow works amazing for that!!
Hm… oh dear! These kind of fall into ‘…feh’ terrirotry, which is a real shame. EL, when L’Oreal is outdoing you at, what, 1/3 the price, you know you need to re-evaluate! Pink gold is my favourite of these here, but I wanted both it and Pearl to be much better…
Feh, eh? A new take on meh?
Eyeliner is becoming like mascara — excellent eyelienrs can be found at any price, including sub $10.
Whaaa? These swatch like cheap $1 eyeliners 🙁 sometimes even those perform well, y’know…
It’s funny, but these days I reach for my Sephora eyeliners sooooo often that when I pay double and see so-so quality, I’m like, “WHYYY!”
I found some of these were good, others were misses. Personally speaking, I quite like the rose gold one… but you know me, I’ll work all kinds of strange ways with products LOL! Metallic liners I usually rub on my finger and then apply with my hands. Rose Gold I press right on top of the lid, in the center. Even sweep it lightly under the brow for a highlight. I don’t use it as an eyeliner tho.
Hahahaha. Of course you don’t use it as eyeliner 😉
I like the color of Pink Gold the most out of the four (the rest are pretty dupable to me), and I’ll still reach for it/wear it, though it’s not terribly impressive.
Meh. I expected more from Estée Lauder…
I totally agree!
Oh, I had high hopes for those, meh.
Me too!
