It does seem ridiculous to re-release Heat Wave again and have it sell out everywhere within an hour or less. And by ridiculous, I mean a greedy practice but also a stupid one at that, since they’re leaving a ton of money on the table. Perhaps MAC will eventually add Whisper of Gilt, since they at least made the formula permanent, finally!

It is for sale at Bon Ton and the shipping is free. Use the code freeship. I agree with you about it being sold on Ebay because they don’t make enough limited edition products and then you have to pay triple to purchase it at Ebay and most of the people who are selling on Ebay are scammers.

“Heavenly Glow” is their color description? Haha, that is about as vague as it gets. This has been causing quite the frenzy on insta. I was tempted at first, but from swatches it looks identical to Whisper of Gilt – which I have. Totally covered. IMO it’s pretty and probably a nice formula, but nothing too special. I’m crossing my fingers they bring back Shimmering Sands if they’re combing through old Gelee options!

Thanks so much for posting the link, I can’t believe I finally got it! I’ve been trying to locate it for days – Nordstrom, Macy’s, Saks, EL, Dillard’s…etc., are all sold out. I’m so excited, I can’t wait to get it!

Zoe Avatar

Estee Lauder, Y U NO release gelee formula permanently?
Stop with this limited edition nonsense.
I missed the Victoria Beckham one and don’t want a bronzer.

Julia Avatar

1000% agree with you on EL and their stinginess with the gelee!!

Also…
I think they are re-releasing Modern Mercury soon (not sure when… Spring? Summer? there’s a sign-up on their website). Not to be an enabler, but if there’s one to scramble for, Modern Mercury is one of my tippy-top, all-time favorite highlighters. And I have a shameful amount.

Zoe Avatar

It’s supposedly like their best product or something, from the Gelee fan contingent haha. So capitalize on it! Get those dollars. Especially when highlighters are so hot. They should have re-released their entire highlighter line, yesterday!

Anyway, thanks for the info. I will keep my eyes out!
What are your favorite highlighters?

Julia Avatar

I love rosy golds/ coppers and I’m also a sucker for pink – EL Modern Mercury, Bobbi Brown Telluride (doubles as an AMAZING eyeshadow), the “Gleam” Glow Kit, and BECCA Opal and Rose Gold all get top marks from me 🙂

So disappointing to see that Estee Lauder is getting into the super limited release game… :/
What’s the point? Why do they make so few items that they sell out in mere hours? Brands need to realize that there’s such a thing as negative buzz. Especially Estee Lauder, I doubt that their loyal customer base is into the “get up at 3 am to grab the LE product before it’s gone” kind of thing…

This is all over Instagram I was thinking about getting it but I’m going to pass.I was on the Estée Lauder website and had it in my cart when it was available and I decided against it.I have so many highlighters in this tone Whisper Of Gilt,Jouer Citrine and Topaz, and I have all the Anastasia Glow kits.Plus,I am eagerly anticipating the new ABH collaboration with Nicole Guerriero

This seems very pretty I can’t wait to receive mine I ordered it today at Bon Ton it seems like it is the only place that still has it in stock; if anyone is interested. It is also free shipping with the code freeship. Belk also might have them in stock but I know for a fact Bon Ton does and they limited it one per customer.

Nicole Avatar

Thank you! For letting me know where what sites had them I brought 3 today. I couldn’t help it! Now I can’t wait for it to come. I missed out in the first release. So for sure I was going to get backups

I have Mac WoG and Laura Geller Gilded Honey yet I still caved into the hype of grabbing this beauty from nordies…highly thinking of sending it back tho-BNIB!!

Bella0009 Avatar

I just got this in the mail and it is stunning! It is glittery but absolutely beautiful on the skin. Actually, I think it is prettier than Whisper of Guilt on my light skin tone.

Clara Avatar

Christine, would you mind explaining to me why make up companies have products that are popular “sell out” so quickly? I know it’s a tactic to manipulate us buyers into desiring the product more, I’m just wondering if there is an actual explanation not just my own assumption. Like Jouer’s Citrine highlighter. Thank you! I love your blog, I swear by it. You and I have similar skin tones so if I think a lippie/blush looks good on you I go and buy it.

** This illuminating powder is beautiful. But, the glitters are too chunky for it to be a highlighter in my opinion. It’s not the “lit from within” look. I’m still trying to figure out how to use it, to justify a $45 product.

Christine Avatar

Sometimes products end up being more popular than they intended – a brand like Jouer might not have been prepared to scale up very quickly (they are experiencing a moment of popularity), while others might deliberately limit stock to fuel purchasing right now (it would hard to confirm without having inside access/knowledge). For a brand like Jouer, they might have to increase manufacturing capabilities, and depending on their contracts, might not be able to scale rapidly or get time on machines immediately. If you look at Kat Von D, when something goes out of stock, it can take months to replace – it shows you that manufacturing can be a complicated process.
