Estee Lauder Blossom Bright Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to be a medium coverage, hydrating lipstick with a “luminous shine.” They seem to be designed as a sheerer, glossier option but based on the Pure Color Envy Sculpting formula. They’re not much sheerer, but they have a lighter look to them as they have some translucency (coverage is closer to mostly opaque, though) with a glossier, shinier finish. Some shades have faint pearly shimmer but some have next to none.
The texture of these has a little more cling to me, but not in a drying kind of way, but there’s a little tackiness that keeps them wearing longer than the average glossy lipstick would. They are lightly creamy and tend to “melt” as you apply them, so they soften as they heat up against the lip. I found them to be moderately hydrating and comfortable to wear. Curiously, the formula is unscented (and no taste either), but the original Sculpting lipsticks were vanilla-scented, while the majority of Estee Lauder’s lip color line is fig-scented, so it’s an interesting development–a happy one for anyone who prefers unscented.
Estee Lauder Blossom Bright Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is brightened, medium-dark pink-coral with warm undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a veil of translucency. The color wore well for almost six hours, and it was nicely hydrating over time. ColourPop Frenemie (LE, $5.00) is more matte, warmer. Maybelline Coral Burst (740) (P, $7.49) is lighter. Guerlain Rouge Kiss (325) (P, $37.00) is warmer. Guerlain Geneva (48) (P, $51.00) is warmer. Dior Sunset (660) (LE, $34.00) is more shimmery. Estee Lauder Defiant Coral (P, $30.00) is warmer. Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) (P, $36.00) is lighter. Maybelline Shocking Coral (P, $7.49) is similar. Guerlain Gracy (P, $51.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Estee Lauder Charmed Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, light-medium pink-coral with a very subtle gold pearl and luminous finish. It had semi-opaque coverage that covered fairly evenly and smoothly. The color stayed on well for four and a half hours, and the formula felt hydrating while worn. Estee Lauder Surreal Sun (P, $30.00) is brighter, pinker. MAC Call the Hairdresser! (LE, $16.00) is less glossy. Bite Beauty Heather (P, $28.00) is warmer. Estee Lauder Eccentric (P, $30.00) is lighter, brighter. Estee Lauder Rebellious Rose (P, $30.00) is darker, pinker. Too Faced Coral Fire (P, $22.00) is more matte. Urban Decay Protest (P, $22.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Liar (P, $22.00) is warmer. NYX Haute Melon (P, $4.00) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Estee Lauder Inspiring Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark pink-plum with subtle, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage that went on evenly and smoothly. This shade seemed to be true to the “medium coverage” part of the formula, but it is buildable to slightly more opaque color if desired. It lasted for five hours and was moderately hydrating over time. MAC Gospel (LE, $16.00) is darker. Bite Beauty Rhubarb (P, $24.00) is warmer. Too Faced Pink Chocolate (P, $22.00) is warmer. MAC Candy Apple (LE, $17.00) is brighter. Chanel Ce Soir (P, $34.00) is lighter, more muted. Buxom Hooligan (P, $21.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Estee Lauder Intriguing Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is medium-dark, plum-berry with fine violet pearl and a soft shine. This shade was less glossy compared to the other three. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on evenly for the most part, but more surprisingly, the color really didn’t pull into lip lines; there’s enough tackiness and thickness to the formula that seems to minimize the chance of this happening. It wore well for five hours on me and was lightly hydrating. Urban Decay Sheer Shame (P, $20.00) is lighter. Bite Beauty Aubergine (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler-toned, more matte. MAC Splurge (LE, $22.00) is cooler-toned, lighter. Estee Lauder Insolent Plum (P, $30.00) is darker, cooler-toned, brighter. YSL Exquisite Plum (22) (P, $34.00) is cooler-toned. Buxom Moonlighter (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery. Guerlain Madame Batifole (860) (LE, $51.00) is more opaque, brighter. Chanel Esprit (88) (LE, $35.00) is lighter. Chanel Fiction (P, $35.00) is lighter. MAC Lush Life (P, $22.00) is cooler-toned. Guerlain Lou-Ling (LE, $35.00) is cooler-toned. Guerlain Guet-Apens (P, $37.00) is slightly cooler. Burberry Bright Plum (15) (P, $30.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I am very interested in these! The Pure Color Envy Sculpting is currently my favorite line of lipsticks on the market, so these are a welcome addition in my book! They look great on you, Christine (and much better on the lips than the arm swatch)!
Thanks, Katie! Something about the glossier balm-like lipsticks helps them apply better on the lips vs. arm!
Oh hell they’re so beautiful I now want them all!
Uh oh! 🙂
I bought mine from Saks probably two or three months ago just to try out the formula and see what I thought – mine have the most noticeable sweet, almost fruity perfume in them and a horrible rancid and bitter chemical taste! It makes these completely unwearable because it just leaks into your mouth and tastes SO bitter! Until now I’ve been warning everyone to stay away but now I’m thinking what I have must be a factory mistake?? Curious to see if anyone else has experienced this with these lipsticks. Completely different from the regular Envy formula.
I know we JUST talked about this, so thanks for leaving the comment! I’ll be curious if anyone else experienced the sweet, perfume-y scent that you did. I know I was very surprised to find they had no scent (to the point where I kept revisiting them just to try and detect one), since every other Lauder product is pretty scented.
All EL lippies, to me, are unhinged with a cloying synthetic fruity smell! I personally cannot stand them! If something is so terrible in them they they must be scented to such an extreme.. Eww. Dustin is precisely correct.
The Pure Color Envy Sculpting Line (the original) isn’t fig-scented – it is vanilla scented, actually. 🙂
😀 Indeed, Christine!! And I’m so glad it is! 🙂
I can’t stand the regular EL smell — but the scent on the regular Pure Color Envy lipsticks is very light and doesn’t linger — definitely not the regular fig-ickiness that has kept me from buying EL lippies for years.
Miraden, I feel that! It wasn’t always so bad.. Over a decade ago it was more subtle. That fig intensity is just awful! Thank you very much!
I have Intriguing. No scent or taste.
Thanks, Katherine!
I have this in Boudoir Baby and it has an orange oil smell.
These look sooooo juicy and hydrating on your lips The arm swatches look strangely sticky and patchy but on the lips… I may have to splurge bigtime!!
They have a really luminous sheen!
The first one looks great on you!
Thanks, Rikki!
Blossom is just perfection with your eye look here <3
Thank you, Celia!
Hi Celia! By any chance have you found a dupe for Orchidee le stylo? Or Iris? I once thought Modser dark blue would pass for Iris but I was not pleased. And I agree! I think Christine actually looks amazing in all of these! Her eyes and the total look.. She seems happy! Like she likes them! 🙂 Makes me smile! 🙂
Hey, Lotus– Nicole had asked me about Chanel eyeliner in Orchidee, so I gave her my thoughts and possible dupes on 5/17/15. See comments under the Dior posting. Hope it helps

Hi Katherine! Thank you much! I’ll go take a look now! 😀 So kind! 🙂
Thank you! I took a look and I actually own ever single MJB Highliner, and the L’Oreal you mentioned, yet while they are outstanding, I don’t see dupe at all. But I really appreciate your efforts and taking the time to share with me! That’s so very kind! I think I’ll cave in 4 days. 😀 (It’s in my cart safely) 😉 But really, I’m touched you saw my question and responded. That’s very admirable. Bless You & great choices! xoxo!!!
No problem, Lotus! Hope you enjoy Orchidee –it’s a very pretty color. I don’t think any of the dupes are exact, but hey for a fraction of the price or with the right purple eye shadow, close enough for me. My wallet was begging for mercy 🙂
Thank you! (If I choose to splurge) I don’t really NEED it.. You know? But I know it would look fabulous so I’m teetering. What I NEED is a fail proof way to secure my bottom eyelashes from smudging my cheeks! Nobody can help me! 🙁 *tears* 🙂
Ok I’m going to get Intriguing after my hair is done (currently sitting in the chair at the salon right now!). It’s totally my colour!
Haha! That is awesome 🙂
Ok I got Inspiring too. I blame you Christine:)
I have been waiting for you to review these! Love every color its going to be really hard to choose! x
Have you tried any of them yet, Divya?
Ugh… they’re SO pretty! How do you store them? I find that I can’t get the magnets to let me stack them next to each other like the NARS lipsticks do… and I have a hard time keeping them upright – maybe need to invest in a lipstick holder?
Mine are tightly packed, so there isn’t much room for them to move!
I haven’t seen these in person, but if the packaging is similar to the Pure Color Envy Sculpting (which I have several of) they will not fit in a standard stick holder! Just thought you would want to know. I keep mine lying on their side in a tray (with my other oddly sized lippies) because I haven’t figured out a better solution yet.
*standard LIPstick holder
They are taller and skinnier than the regular Pure Colour Envy lipsticks, kind of like a stretched out version of the packaging.
These are so pretty and hydrating on the lips that I must really try a couple out.. I love sheer and moisturizing lipsticks and no scent!
Let me know if you try one, Lily!
My wallet just fled in fear!
You had me at no fragrance and not drying! Blossom, Intriguing and Inspiring are all so pretty!
They are really nice!
I was going to ask you the other day if you have tried these because I really like them! I have three (Blossom Bright included), and I like them all! I am one of the people who like the change of scent. I just can’t stand fig, which means I had real problems with their older formulas.
I don’t like their fig scent either, but I did like the subtle vanilla they used in the regular Sculpting line!
Eeeep, pretty! another EL formula I have to try.
I can’t wait to hear how this one works for you, Wendy!
Blossom Bright and Intriguing are my favorites here, Blossom Bright is really calling to me!
It’s such a summery shade!
They look so great on you! I really like your makeup, you look beautiful Christine! 🙂
Thanks, Ayesha!
I think you forgot to add the “Intriguing” shade description and dupes 🙂
It’s there?! I see in the post!
Ok, these all look so wonderful on you! The finish is beautiful! Lovely review!
Thank you, Lotus!
These are gorgeous! The formula sounds wonderful.
So far, so good!
Oh jeez… I’m so overly-cautious about lipstick shades, and all of these look perfect! My budget is not listening when I try to reassure it that this could be my entire lip wardrobe for the summer… it just ran crying to the corner!
LOL! Poor, poor wallet!
Wow! So, you know I have to comment on your super, amazing eye look! Is this anywhere up-close? I had to force my eyes off yours to look at the lips! You are looking just absolutely beautiful Christine! Onto the lipsticks..agh..these are gorgeous too! How can I love these and mattes? lol! I really like them all. But Blossom Bright and Intriguing are my faves! Do you think these sheer lipsticks and the gloss trend is something that will be wearable throughout fall and winter still or do you think the trend is going to lean back to the matte again?
Here you go! http://www.temptalia.com/colourpop-rumer-has-it-super-shock-shadows-reviews-photos-swatches
I’m sure we’ll see a return to satin in fall/winter, but I think we’ll still see some glossier formulas, too – too MUCH matte, I think, has caused a resurgence in shinier finishes for those who don’t like matte.
Thanks!
Ohhhh, these look GORGEOUS on you! <3 I love Blossom Bright! <3
Thank you, Shipra!
The nice juicy looking finish on these is just so fresh and screams “SUMMER” at the top of their lungs!!! I want one, but cannot decide because they have great hydrating qualities and all look so luminous and luscious! Probably Intriguing or Charmed will come home with me. Great review as always, Christine!
They are a very spring/summer kind of formula!
These remind me of the MAC Huggables, close cousins?
Thicker, more coverage, more comfortable, more hydrating.
Thank you! You had me at “more comfortable, more hydrating “!
These all look amazing. Every one of them – just as well I can’t afford them, I would find too difficult to chose which one. They look fabulous on you Christine – just gorgeous.
Thank you, Genevieve!
ah I was hoping you’d review these eventually! I have blossom bright and charmed, and the gold shimmer in charmed is much more obvious to me in person than in your pictures! I find that charmed is less hydrating than blossom bright, and after the color fades most of pearl particles remain so I like to apply revlon color stay just bitten balm stain in honey on top for a deeper mauve color but with the same golden pearly finish! I find that charmed doesn’t reapply very well for me
Thank you so much for sharing, Sue! Do yours have any scent?
0 scent for the color envy shines, and the slightest hint of vanilla for the regular pure color envy lipsticks just as you said.
Thank you, Sue!
Oooooh, Inspiring and Intriguing look great! <3
Are they… inspiring… and… intriguing? 😀 I WENT THERE!
XD You certainly did.
I already have Blossom Bright but now I kinda want Charmed too, so pretty!
How do you like the formula, Melissa?
I prefer the regular Pure Color Envy formula, but I do like this one as well. I like the creaminess of it.
I stopped using Estee Lauder YEARS ago because their lipsticks were floral scented. Like bottom of grandma’s purse flavor! It’s nice to hear they’ve changed that! I might have to revisit the brand 😀
The regular Sculpting line has a vanilla scent, but definitely not the fig of the rest of the line as well!
Unscented is wonderful! Also wonderful to see a color like Intriguing perform well in a sheerer formula. Really liking Blossom Bright, too!
It is a nice step, though just so confusing, lol!
I like all of these, starting with the darkest and working back to the first in favorites. All so pretty. You really are able to wear all colors so well. Perfect coloring.
Aw, thanks Susan! 🙂
Hahaha. Christine, if you weren’t a beauty blogger 125% of the time, I think you should model for the cosmetics companies, because you can pull off so many colors and looks. I mean it’s like the runway model that looks good in everything, from haute couture to the burlap sack!!
Inspiring and Intriguing are both on my want list. I looked at Blossom Bright, but it’s not the right type of pink for me, so I got Empowered instead! The comparison between these and the original Pure Color Envy lipsticks reminds me of the comparison between UD’s Revolution vs Sheer Revolution – not *actually* a sheer or low pigment lipstick, but not as IN YO FACE as the original formula.
And yes, my Empowered also has no scent nor taste. Yay!
YAY! for no taste/scent!
OOh Inspiring is so gorgeous! Dammit.. I may have to travel beyond my radius of comfort ( 5 kms to my closest sephora i.e) to check these out in person. Thanks Christine:))
No problem, Dee!
It’s interesting how some of the swatches look meh, but they look good on the lips. All are pretty, but Charmed looks promising. I haven’t bought anything from Estee Lauder for +10 years but these Pure Color Envy lipsticks have piqued my interest, and they usually have GWP promotions
Hopefully you find a good GWP to take advantage of if you end up trying these!
All of these looks just yummy! Very summery. I really want Inspiring.
You look absolutely fantastic in the photos. Awesome makeup!
Aw, thank you Helene!
For whatever reason, I much prefer the formula on the Shines than the originals…which seperated on my lips (I may be the only one?) Even though Charmed got the lowest score in this post, its a shade that I’m thinking of adding. 🙂
How interesting! I’m glad it works for you 🙂
These all look so nice!
They have such a lovely finish!
