Essie Declare Your Denim Nail Lacquer

Essie Declare Your Denim Nail Lacquer was a collaboration between Teen Vogue and Essie to kick-off the event with bottles given to those who donated on July 28th.   Teen Vogue launched their Declare Your Denim event, which is a charity event where you can donate your denim for a good cause. Teen Vogue and Fashion Delivers (charity) have set-up donation boxes at several malls across America (see a list here). And if you’re not located near one of the participating locations, you can always mail yours! When you spend $25 at participating sponsors (online or in-store), you’ll get a free Teen Vogue tote.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I’ve read that this is a very limited edition and only 300 bottles were created, so most of us will be unlikely to have access to this polish.

Do you know if that’s changed?

As far as I know, it was just for the event – but a few readers mentioned that Mesmerize by Essie looked very similar. I don’t own that shade, so I can’t compare myself, but they do seem close.

This post was more about the on-going charity event than the Essie polish, but since I got it (not until after the event, though), I included photos of it.

i would like to know how this compares to essie’s mesmorize and opi’s dating a royal. i recently got mesmorize since i have a thing for blues like this, but i don’t wanna buy a color that looks a lot like what i already have.

Is it just me, or does Essie’s Declare Your Denim look EXACTLY like Essie’s Mesmerize from 2009’s Spring Collection? The color in the bottles are the same too (I’m comparing your bottle to Scrangie’s Mesmerize photo)!

No idea – I don’t have that Essie! From online photos, they certainly look close, though. I’ll just reiterate here that Declare Your Denim isn’t up for sale as far as I know, so Mesmerize might be an option if you like this shade and want something similar to it.

Ha ha, I think I’ll stick with my Mesmerize. I should get a backup bottle at Ulta (it’s still sold there if you wish to compare them).

It will be a very sad day when Mesmerize is no longer sold. It’s my favorite blue aside from Russian Navy (OPI) and Phallic (Illamasqua). Russian Navy for fall/winter, Mesmerize for spring/summer and Phallic whenever I need a bit of Freudian humor.

I Like this color..it reminds me of OPI’s “dating a royal” color! Looks intimidating in the bottle, but really pretty on nails.

I don’t ever understand why companies say its limited edition and then give away so much to bloggers, pr people and other special people..which I think is a waste. Why push pr to promote a product that it unattainable, basically a product that don’t exist. and the amount they created don’t really go directly to the people at the event, Why not just create more so more people who don’t have inside connections can enjoy also, cause they are really the people who purchase the brands product in general. Christine this is not directed to u, this is a question I had before I started reading your site.

I likey! The color reminds me of my NYX studio liquid liner in extreme blue, except that the liner has a bit more of a metallic finish.

I recently won a bottle of this online and I’m currently painting my nails with this color as we speak! It really is beautiful!
