Edward Bess Bed of Roses Blush Extraordinaire
Edward Bess Bed of Roses Blush Extraordinaire ($43.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “bright pink.” It’s a cool-toned, medium pink with a mostly matte finish. NYX English Rose is shimmery and slightly lighter. NARS Angelika is slightly bluer-based and has some glitter. MAC Divine Desire is shimmery. MAC Pink Tea is lighter and shimmery. MAC Weekend Getaway is a bit darker and a cream product. Chanel Rose Initiale is warmer. Bobbi Brown Pretty in Pink is slightly warmer. Bobbi Brown Pastel Pink is very similar. See comparison swatches.
During Sephora’s most recent sale, I bought Bed of Roses, because one of the things I love about high-end is the textures you’ll find. I liked Edward Bess’ other powders, so blush was next on my list to try. The texture is soft, velvety, and silky-smooth but not powdery. It applies well with color coverage that’s buildable and blendable, so you can control the intensity but will still show up on darker complexions. While the finish is mostly matte, the more the powder is worked into the skin, the more luminous it becomes with a subtle, satin sheen. It lasted eight hours with light fading becoming noticeable after nine hours of wear, which was impressive.

This is such a pretty color! I am always afraid to go with this shade but you have inspired me to try it out on myself 🙂
Beautiful, but I already own NARS Angelika and spend plenty of time wrestling it into a shade suitable for pale skin, so I’ll pass. 😀 I really love seeing what this brand has to offer, though – thus far, the quality appears impeccable across the line.
Pretty color, would have to look at either of the Mac dupes.
Have to say Christine, out of all of the looks you do these are your shining star colors. The violet/purples/, bright pink and the lip all look better than anything else I’ve seen on you. Your coloring and features are just perfect for these vivd colors.
Hi Christine, do you have any news on MAC’s summer 2013 Rihanna collection? I heard it comes out as early as next week!
Any info I have from MAC is posted as soon as I get it from them 🙂
This is such a pretty shade! Not sure I can pull it off though, I have strong yellow undertones. The formula seems divine, I might have to check out the other shades.
Wow, your skin looks so beautiful! What foundation are you using in these photos?
I believe this is Giorgio Armani Maestro.
Adorable color! Christine, I really like your makeup here! That eye makeup looks so cute & unique.
May I just say how awesome the dupe list widget/feature thing is? I LOVE how the similar shades are pictured right on this post.
Thank you!
Its a shame that many brands already do this shade of blush. How do you rate Edward Bess makeup Christine? I haven’t bought anything by this brand before. Also have you tried Kevyn Aucoin? I wanted to know how the products swatch as this brand is also gaining popularity.
So far, Edward Bess has had good products!
