e.l.f. Studio Minty Lip Gloss Review, Photos, Swatches
E.L.F. Minty Lip Gloss: Chicago, San Diego, New York City, Houston
Quick Review: E.L.F. Minty Lip Gloss
e.l.f. Studio Minty Lip Gloss ($3.00 for 0.08 oz.) are sheer to semi-sheer glosses with a sweet mint scent and a slight minty tingle. The tingle only lasts for a few minutes, and it isn’t painful or burning. I only get about an hour and a half of wear with these glosses (my average is closer to three), though. The formula itself is thin and non-sticky, but the applicator could be better, because I feel like I have to go for three or four pulls of gloss to get enough to cover my lips.
- Chicago is a coppery orange with flecks of gold bronze glitter.
- San Diego is a coral-red with gold flecks of shimmer.
- New York City is a medium pink with subtle gold micro-shimmer.
- Houston is a muted fuchsia-pink with soft pink shimmer.
I know that they’re only a few bucks, so why complain at all about quantity? At the same time, most of E.L.F.’s products grew famous for being $1 each, and then they introduced their Studio line which is the “higher end” range–but you’re only getting 0.08 oz. It’s like MAC Dazzleglass all over again. I won’t dock points for it, but I find it intereting they skimped on quantity. (For example, their Mineral Lipgloss–also from the Studio line–contains 0.22 fl oz.)
Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

- Product: 25/30
- Value: 8/10
- Ease of Use: 4/5
- Packaging: 4/5
RECOMMENDATION: Though they’re ultra cheap, so you may find its shortcoming easier to excuse, but it wears off incredibly quickly, which is why I don’t find myself reaching for these.

i looove the tingly feeling and mintiness of these! great buy!
Thanks Christine, these are ok for the price, worth to try.
Does it mean we’ll see more of e.l.f. products on your site soon?.I’d love to see that.
I don’t know – I haven’t gone through all of the photos in my backlog, so I really don’t remember what is in there.
Might as well fork over another $2-3 for a better nyx gloss huh 🙂
Y no lips? And can u do a review on the elf brushes with the black handles
Hi Lala,
Please read the paragraph in the post about what a quick review means.
I do not have any E.L.F. brushes to review at this time.
Thanks!
I’m not a fan of elf, generally. I found that I like their lipliners, but that’s pretty much it.
i love how if these had chanel written on the they would have basically all likes. but that there elf they dont
I don’t like having to reapply my gloss every hour vs. every three to four, personally – that’s the difference to me!
Ooo I wouldn’t mind a few, I love minty glosses. They’re so refreshing. 🙂
Hmm.. Somehow I think that if I peeled off the elf logo and put a MAC limited edition one on it, made the price closer to $25, then this would be an A with “great colours, an exciting release, definite add to my collection of 40000 MAC stuff” lol.
My MAC lipglasses last 3-4 hours on me — this lasts an hour! Not that MAC glosses are an A.
YAY! Elf products are awesome! MOAR ELF reviews, please!!
I haven’t tried these, but I’m disappointed that they only last an hour or so. In the one dollar “liquid lipstick”, there are two colors that look so perfect on my skin that I’m willing to look past the fact that they last about an hour. Since these are sheer, it doesn’t seem to be worth it. Thanks for the review!
However, the mineral glosses are much less sheer and last me about as long as any of my MAC glosses, which I find to be too sticky anyways (Plushglass formula). Definitely worth the $3 in my opinion.
The colors are nice, too bad about the wear time though. That’s an issue for me. I’d actually rather shell out more and get a gloss that meets my standards- (wears well, moisturizing, not super sheer.) I don’t know why people are giving you a hard time. I think you have some of the most fair reviews, not even counting how well-photographed and organized they are.
That’s how I am – I just can’t be bothered to reapply all the time! I don’t even like to reapply once, LOL.
Thank you!
I think people are being a bit unfair. You’ve reviewed plenty of drugstore products before that have received great ratings. You’ve also given low ratings to high end products. It’s silly to get riled up over this.
you should do more e.l.f reviews!
