Dolce & Gabbana Mandorla (125) Classic Cream Lipstick
Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick ($33.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to be a long-wearing, richly-pigmented, and hydrating formula. In May, the brand added twenty new shades to its range for a total of forty-two. The formula is rose-scented but has no discernible taste for me. The consistency is creamy, light-to-medium in weight, comfortable to wear, and moderately moisturizing.
Dolce & Gabbana Mandorla (125) Classic Cream Lipstick ($33.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “beige pink.” It’s a light-medium, muted peach with a creamy, natural finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and the consistency applied easily over the lips without tugging or dragging. It didn’t have too much slip, though, so the color stayed in place well. This shade lasted for four hours on me, which is average and not particularly long-wearing for me. Too Faced Country Star (P, $22.00) is glossier, slightly darker. Chanel Satisfaction (89) (P, $34.00) is pinker, sheerer. Chanel Charmeuse (142) (LE, $34.00) is more shimmery. MAC Close Contact (LE, $16.00) is a touch darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Dolce & Gabbana Petal (135) Classic Cream Lipstick ($33.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “neutral lilac rose.” It’s a medium, warm-toned rose with a natural sheen. It had nearly full color coverage, but you could see a shadow of my lip freckle. It glided on across the lips without dragging and felt comfortable to wear without being too slick. It wore well for four and a half hours on me. Givenchy Nude Guipure (106) (P, $36.00) is similar. Estee Lauder Dynamic (P, $30.00) is brighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Flirt (144) (LE, $30.00) is lighter. NARS Descanso (LE, $25.00) is warmer. NARS Sex Machine (P, $25.00) is pinker, more matte. MAC Shy Shine (P, $16.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Dolce & Gabbana Dahlia (320) Classic Cream Lipstick ($33.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “red wine.” It’s a deep, dark berry-red with subtle cool undertones and a satin finish. It had rich, intense color payoff that applied well without settling into lip lines or feathering over time. The consistency was lightly creamy, so it had good glide, but it didn’t slip around once applied. This shade lasted for seven hours and left a stain behind, though neither are surprising given how rich and dark this shade is. MAC Primrose (LE, $16.00) is sheerer. Inglot #293 Lipstick Cream (P, $12.00) is glossier. Laura Mercier Myth (P, $24.00) is lighter, warmer. Givenchy Violine Precieux (312) (LE, $36.00) is lighter. Illamasqua Shard (P, $24.00) is more matte. MAC Sweet Succulence (LE, $16.00) is warmer. NARS Palais Royal (P, $25.00) is more matte, redder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Petal is really pretty! And Dahlia is lovely shade for fall.
It is a nice color for fall!
I actually like them all, but personally would love Dahlia for fall. I need to compare this to the Marc Jacobs 1000 point bonus lipstick which is also a berry lipstick and freaking awesome I must say. Hmmm.. also thinking.. Isn’t this a big improvement over the last D&G lippies you reviewed. I remember something disastrous that was positively laughable at this price point. Was that last fall or this spring.. wanders off to check…
I think it was for last holiday… they were “jewel-toned” shades and very, very slippery + sheer!
Ugh! Petal and especially Dahlia! Gorgeous!
They are! 😀 Have you tried this formula before?
I really like Mandoria.
Yay!
Dahlia looks similar to Cassis Passion by L’Oreal.
Thanks for sharing!
I’m loving all three on you! I’m thinking of Mandorla and Dahlia for me! 🙂
Thank you, Maddie!
Dahlia looks awesome on you! And Mandorla surprised me; a lot of the time when things are described as pink beige, the pinkness gets lost, but I definitely see some on the lip swatch. Did you detect any coolness in the colour? If so, I need to run right out and swatch it; if not, then I already know it will look sort of orangey on me 😛 My undertones bring out the orange in all reds and nudes, and it’s fantastic for reds, but not what I’m looking for in a nude)
I would say Mandorla is warmer, not really cool-toned!
It’s usally not my kind of colour, but there’s something really alluring about Dahlia.
Maybe it’s how it’s dark but not super dark? Not too cool either.
Petal! <3 <3 *_* The Givenchy dupe is definitely easier for me to get! My lipstick wishlist is getting uncomfortably long! 😛
The pricing isn’t TOO different, at least!
That first one is absolutely gorgeous….I love the color of Country Star but I greatly dislike the Too Faced La Creme formula so this is great! These aren’t LE colors right?
D&G said they were all permanent!
320 is gorgeous. There’s a lot like it, but this one has something special.
It’s such a lush shade!
Dahlia is definitely my fave! It’s perfect for fall
I agree! It will be a nice staple for fall.
I know you are not fond of the eyeshadows n pencils. I agreed with you.
But I do like the lipsticks. I have the red ones.
I like Dior Rouge better, but these are nice too.
The lipsticks have been one of the better aspects of the range – though I did not like the funky colors they released over the holidays (but they also felt little like the Classic Cream formula, period!).
I definitely love nude lipsticks. Always been looking for a singular nude shade, which last for at least 4 hours on me and have great quality. I have already nude pink, nude beige, nude peach-pink, nude peach-beige ones on my buck. MARDOLA is the nude peach–”uniform peach” lipstick I have been tried to find out there is a considerable time.
It is hard to find a longer-wearing peach/beige!
Wow.. love the swatches..petal and mandorla are of my types !
Both are nice, easy to wear shades!
I’m not sure why (not my usual kind of color), but I’m really drawn to Petal!
I love when something that isn’t usually your thing draws you in!
I love the eye palette on you, Christine! All three lipcolors look great on you; for me, I think Petal would be the only one that’d work on me.
Thank you, Carolyn!
Dahlia is beautiful on you 🙂 dying to pick these up 🙂
Thank you, Rashmi! Your type of shade!
These look so rich and creamy! Even the palest one (which always impresses me!) 🙂 Dahlia is so understatedly dramatic (can that be a thing? I’m making it a thing for the purposes of this post…)
I totally get what you mean about Dahlia! It’s a little muted but still dramatic.
I’m tempted to give these a try. I had tried one of the Monica lipsticks a few months ago and it was so drying that I had to scrub it off within twenty minutes. I personally blame the overpowering fragrance. As long as these aren’t as strongly fragranced I’d be overjoyed to have one or two in my collection (especially the MLBB beauty Petal)!
Not sure how they stack up to the Monica lipsticks (don’t have them), but D&G is pretty scented with rose everywhere you go 🙁 My least favorite aspect of their lip products.
Oh, Dahlia! Saving money on these as I don’t think they ara available here. But Dahlia, how lovely you are!
It is a lovely shade!
Wait, wait, wait. Dolce and Gabbana did something right?
All joking aside, Dahlia looks stunning. Vampy without being too dark. I might have to pick it up.
Ha, ha! 😉
Of all the products from D&G, their lipsticks/glosses have been the ones I’ve had the most success with!
oooohhhh Dahlia is pretty!
It is!
How similar is Dahlia to melted berry (aside from the fact that it’s a completely different formula haha). I’m on the hunt for something more berry toned for fall!
Melted Berry is brighter! http://www.temptalia.com/submit-dupe?sbs=1&pid=168778&dupe=168419
Dahlia is beautiful and looks great on you!
Reminds me a little of MAC Rebel though not as deep.
Aw, thanks Payal!
Petal looks amazing on you! yeah, that’s the one I want.
Thank you! 🙂
