I do. I rarely get color matched or try makeup on. I know what I’m there for since for me to go to an Ulta, Sephora, Nordstrom, MAC etc is at least an hour drive. I have everything pre planned and wearing makeup is part of my everyday routine just like combing my hair or brushing my teeth!
Yes….in the same way that I wear shoes when I go shoe shopping 😉 ! I like looking my best when I go out, whether it’s to the garden center or makeup store. If I want to try stuff on, I can always remove what I’m wearing when I’m at the makeup counter.
Yes, but when I want to get color matched, I wear a light tinted moisturizer. Anyway, it’s so frustrating getting color matched. Being a blue-eyed blonde, the SAs see me as light skinned, & I am so not. Plus, my body is darker than my face. Always Frustrating. And, I don’t like powdered bronzers very much,
By doing a really nice job on my makeup I feel I am showing my love and appreciating of makeup, which gets me taken more seriously by sales associates, leading to a great shopping experience. (Except at most Sephoras and MAC counters in my area, where I’m usually ignored no matter what I do.)
I swatch on my hand because I don’t like to put testers on my face, so I don’t need to have a bare face when I go shopping. I do lots of research in advance!
I meant appreciation. DOH!
Its easier to wear a full face only because I feel judged or like I don’t know anything about makeup by the assistants on the counter, when in fact, depending on the brand, I know a lot. Although i’ll often not wear makeup if I didn’t have time that morning and my usual MAC stores know me and are lovely so I feel comfortable going in either way. Mostly I’m looking at lip colours which are easy to test, or eyeshadows which I just swatch on my hands, with foundation I prefer to get a sample to take home after the initial cheek swatches.
Makeup…I don’t leave home without it applied anyway, after all I don’t want to scare anyone. So yeah, I do wear makeup when shopping for makeup.
Depends. If I am going directly after work, then yes, because I usually wear makeup to work. (Today I am actually not, but that is unusual.) If I’m going on the weekend, no, because I don’t usually bother with makeup on the weekend.
I always wear makeup when leaving the house. I wouldn’t want to scare the general public with my unmade face, LOL. I never get colour matched because I have yet to meet a SA that knows what they are doing. That may sound harsh but seriously, it is true. The machine they use at Sephora isn’t any better. My daughter has walked out of Sephora looking like an oompa loompa so many times it isn’t funny. I never swatch on my face as I have watched countless numbers of people do their entire makeup from the testers in Sephora and Ulta. I would rather not risk getting too many germs.
Yes, I sure do! I may keep an easy to remove lip color on if I’m planning on trying on some (sanitized and top layer wiped off) lipsticks , or just have bronzer and a bit of highlighter on if I’m thinking about trying a specific blush. My eye makeup is always full-on, though. I won’t ever try on eye makeup from testers! As for shade matching a foundation, I will allow the SA or MUA to remove small patches of my foundation so that they can see my skin underneath clearly.
Yes. I don’t use testers on my face, so there’s no point in not wearing it.
Depends on what makeup I’m buying tbh. If I’m on a mission for a fuller coverage foundation, where shade match really matters – I’ll go out bare faced. But if it’s a light coverage foundation/tinted moisturizer like I uduay wear, I’ll do my normal base routine!
Most of the time, I do my normal makeup routine mostly because I have a round baby face (it’s my Firrst Nations half LOL! All of my native family members got the round chubby cheeks!) and I have had more than THREE sephora workers come up to me and try to explain what mascara is, OR follow me around the store thinking I’m a punk teen trying to steal.
Yes, for all the reasons everyone else has given. And I always wear my most stylish eyeglass frames.
Yes I do – I always wear makeup when I am going anywhere. If I am going makeup shopping, it’s also a way to test out a brand’s cleansers etc to remove what I have on for a makeup trial, whether it be foundation, eye shadow or blush.
It depends on what I’m shopping for. Since I do most shopping online, I’m usually in store for foundation matches. In that case, I don’t wear anything except serum and moisturizer. If I’m looking for lippies, I swatch on my arm so I usually wear full makeup. The other reason is to test a perfume but I seldom do that as I have several I like right now. It is fun to get a Sephora make over too.
It depends, but generally yes. If I’m going on a weekend for an event or to try out a new collection, then I wear minimal amount to even out my skin but not be overly complicated for the MUA to remove and prep my skin. I do that out of courtesy when it’s a plan. If it’s on a whim, then I’m just wearing what I’m wearing for the day. I get people’s feelings about testers too; I tend to work with regular brands and MUAs, so I am fortunate enough to get to use testers of new collections first. I highly recommend it if you buy from a particular brand regularly. Get to know one of the SAs or MUAs and they’ll let you know when new or LE items come in so you can try them first.
The only thing I’ll occasionally test on my face is a lip product, so I’ll usually skip lipstick if I know I’m going to shop for makeup.
With any other product, I try to get a sample to try at home (if possible)
I always wear makeup unless I’m sick. I used to live in Texas and I think I picked up my beauty habits there. Back in the day, we wore makeup and nail polish (fingers AND toes) to put out the trash!
Always.
However, I plan not to wear a lip stain or long-wearing lip product, in case I want to try something on my lips (after cleansing).
Yep. I don’t usually have a planned makeup shopping unless I’m going into Ulta to pick something up, like a palette that just released. Of course, I’ll browse the whole store while I’m there, but I’ve already seen what’s new online. Most of my makeup shopping is online though.
Eek! I’m the rare odd ball then because I really enjoy makeup and my collection (colors, colors, they are my gems). However, because I tend to prefer sleep more (thus I wake up later) and have to help get my kids out the door, I rarely wear it (and I tend to only go when I either have a mission to purchase something in particular or when I’m have a rare free moment and want to relax…does anyone else use makeup store browsing as relaxation therapy?? 😉 ).
So no, I don’t particularly wear it before visiting the makeup counter or store. Every blue moon, I do go in made up just so the ladies at Sephora (who all know me, it’s a small town) can say, “Oh, she does know how to use all of this that she buys.) LOL!
Yes. I never test anything on my face only arm swatches so why not? I’ll wear the same as usual which is a natural look.
