Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

As a teenager I would have said yes, I even kept empty bottles of perfume. As an adult, only if it were made of gold, or if it could be worth its weight in gold at some point in the future, or if I could use it for something else. I don’t really feel joy and happiness looking at empty jars and boxes… Maybe if I had more space for storage (out of sight!) things would be different!

True. I save it on the Pat l/s because it offers an extra layer of protection, not because I favor the design. I saved Rocky Horror pieces & eventually pitched. The Nars four lipstick coffret from a couple of years ago, never. It’s decorative, it’s Man Ray. What’s not to love? Esp when Man Ray was a great friend of (Dr.) George Hodel, who is still the prime suspect in the ‘Black Dahlia’ murder. 1947 and Hodel is quite dead, but the story of Elizabeth Short will never die. Intersection of crime and makeup. Ooooooh.

Made me remember one other item with saved packaging. Nars Splendor in the Grass cheek palette, which offended almost all. Intersection of crime and m/u yet again. I love Venn diagrams!

Remember the UD Basquiat collection? I still have the palette, as well as one of the lipsticks because the packaging was based upon his art work. It’s been years since I have worn the shadow or the lipstick; but, I just can’t part with the packaging. I am pretty sure that they are both long expired.

I only keep original packaging of the MAC products I buy, since I bring them back in the packaging for Back-to-MAC.
Otherwise, only if the original box is something sturdy I can use for storage, like a metal box… but currently I have none.

I struggle with throwing away the pretty packaging. Then they just sit around and take up precious space. 🙁 I’m not one who likes to buy makeup just for the packaging though, I’m all about the product that’s inside. But Julia’s Place, Pat McGraft, and Kaleidos packaging is just so innovative and pretty I hate to get rid of it! Also still holding on to my Temptalia palettes packaging, so pretty!

I have, embarrassingly, a drawer full of outer packaging that I couldn’t bring myself to throw away but also never look at. I do display especially pretty outer packaging such as Pat McGrath or a certain Sydney Grace collab with an adorable pupper amidst a celestial scene.
