The eyeshadow palette is really unattractive, but the packaging is probably beautiful and that’s what makes me want it. The lipsticks and glosses look really nice. I may grab the Tiana, Ariel, & Belle lipsticks and 1 or 2 of the glosses. I can’t see myself buying the palette just for the packaging. I’m trying to evolve as a makeup user and not get suckered bc of packaging.

Gina Avatar

Totally agree! Since there is one lip color for each princesses representing here, Designing a eyeshadow quad for each princess make more sense than a 12 pan for them all. Also, with the color selection, there are pink and purple, but no Aurora and Rapunzel, doesn’t feel right!

Gina Avatar

I just miscounted the shadows in the pallet, there are 15 instead of 12. Then, I wonder why don’t the do a 16 shadow pallet, like the perception pallet, giving 2 unique shades to each princess, including Aurora and Rapunzel? Nonetheless, a very interesting collection. I probably will get my hands on ARIEL and Cinderella lux lipstick.

I wonder if they didn’t want to have too many white blonde princesses in the mix. It’s already a bit of a stretch to suggest that Ariel, Snow White, and Cinderella have different complexions, and it seems like they’re trying to cast Belle as more of a white-person medium here.

Plus I think there’s a generation of people who saw the Little Mermaid in theaters but then trickled off around Hunchback/Tarzan. For some reason it’s hard to slot Rapunzel next to Belle in my mind.

Marie Avatar

Rapunzel isn’t included because this collection is a tie-in promo for their new Disney Store LE collector doll line, and it only features dolls of these princesses. That’s why the other princesses aren’t featured in the makeup line. 🙂

I totally didn’t see this collection coming. It’s a nice assortment of shades, but other than the lipstick outer packaging (which I never keep), nothing is tempting me. I’m not sure to be relieved or sad about that, since I am a Disney fan. LOL!

Alecto Avatar

It’s impossible to tell from this if the lipstick tube caps will be anything special; that’s what would interest me. I did google this collection and saw that the caps are a kind of satin gold with etched-looking “signatures” of the princesses, like the inner cover of the eyeshadow palette. That’s nice, I guess.

Sarah Avatar

If I were a Disney fan, I would find this irresistible but as it is, I’m not and I probably have dupes for all these shades, so I’ll save this for the fans. I bet the quality is good, though! 😀

Regardless of how you feel about (Disney and general) princesses being marketed to death, and held up as fantasy/role models for preschool girls, the tales usually have a good message. That is esp interesting as SW and Aschenputtel (Cinderella) esp, in the original Grimm/German version were written to keep the girls in line/well behaved, and are scary/gory as all F. Disney was brilliant to be diverse, before inclusivity was the flashpoint for society and makeup. Glad to see Tiana and Jasmine prominently featured. The DPs are total nostalgia for women in the US. The shade names are perfection, and the selections look appropriate for the heroines. Good job, CP.

This collection looks very well curated, as in this is the kind of makeup that I would imagine an actual Disney Princess wearing. There’s nothing terribly original here but I’d be surprised if the collection didn’t sell out regardless. I also like the little detail that the princess’s outfits and lipsticks shades match the decade they were released in.

Alecto Avatar

I do feel like they stuck very closely to the feel of the princesses. And your comment about the decades made me realize that I was getting a subconscious Besame vibe from the lipsticks.

Yeah, it’s not “original” really, but I don’t think this theme would justify ground-breaking colors — classic and traditional is the right way. It’s odd to me that they picked very specific Disney princesses, though that was almost certainly to decrease the expense (but still …).

Trish Avatar

I have been waiting for this. My. Whole. Life. I have never bought an entire collection before, and I will happily buy this entire collection. Thank you so much for posting on this!

Ellie Avatar

This is an enchanting collection. I can’t wait to try Everything! I am a a very fair skinned girl, as well as a huge Disney fan, so this collection looks like it was made for me.

Melissa Avatar

Really gorgeous looking…but the palette & lip products are so underwhelming.

Honestly the fall palette they just released is more exciting & different than the rest of their permanent collection (kinda…)

Come on Colourpop you could have gone FULL BLOWN colour for this instead of combining the fortune & fame palettes….

easy pass for me…

Ceebee_eebee Avatar

I want every single one of the dolls but they are like $150 a piece or something insane like that. Now I can get the collection and still feel the Disney magic but not go broke. Thanks, CP. ?

Alecto Avatar

The gloss names are achingly cute. That aside, the pressed shadows look like a nice-enough neutral palette; nothing that someone with any kind of stash would need, but a great starting point for makeup newbies.

Is it me, or does Under the Sea look almost neon on the darker skintone?

In the Super Shock Shadows, I’m liking Almost There a lot.

As for the lippies — Snow White … OF COURSE! [sigh] I’m so predictable. (Though I do quite like Belle also. And Tiana’s quite nice too.)
