Dior Trompe L'Oeil & Reveuse Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Dior Trompe L’Oeil Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow
Dior Trompe L’Oeil (011) Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a brightened, sparkling silver with a very fine shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff but is prone to sheering ouot, so it seems to apply mostly as a wash. To build it up, you really have to wait between layers. It takes about thirty seconds or so to set–plenty of time to blend and work with it–and wears for nine and a half hours on me. I didn’t have any issues with fall out. LORAC Silver (P) is a powder. theBalm #34 (P, $6.50) is lighter, powder. L’Oreal Silver Sky (757) (P, $7.99) is a powder. Makeup Geek Mercury (P, $5.99) is darker, powder. Urban Decay Shellshock (LE, $18.00) is a powder. NARS Interstellar (P, $25.00) is less sparkly. Giorgio Armani Silver Chafer (35) (LE, $33.00) is a powder. Maybelline Cool Crush (LE, $6.99) is more metallic, lighter. Maybelline Silver Strike (P, $6.99) is more metallic. MAC Guise (LE, $21.00) is a powder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Dior Reveuse (271) Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a medium-dark, navy blue with a sparkly, frosted finish. It seemed pigmented, but it had a rather chunky/gritty texture that made the color/sparkle flake away. As it dried down, flakes of blue came off the lid and landed underneath my eye (this was in the first five minutes or less). It continued throughout the nine hours I wore it, and though it didn’t crease, it progressively faded as the color flaked away. It was a very odd experience, as I can’t remember many eyeshadows flaking away. MAC A Sprinkle of Blues #3 (P, $21.00)is lighter, powder. MAC Tonight’s Temptation #1 (LE, $21.00) is cooler-toned, powder. Clinique Massively Midnight (P, $17.00) is darker. Urban Decay Goddess (DC, $18.00) is powder. NARS Dark Rite (P, $24.00) is darker. Maybelline Electric Blue (P, $6.99) is darker. MAC Deep Truth (P, $15.00) is brighter, powder. Make Up For Ever #308 (P, $20.00) is brighter, powder. Inglot #428 (P, $6.00) is brighter, powder. Neither of these appealed to me when I saw the Dior promo post. I like the formula usually… tricky to apply and build up, but looks great in evening lighting when it really picks up the sparkles. These two shades are a pass for me.
I’m generally a big fan – often reach for these when I’m traveling – but neither was impressive. The blue was just horrific when worn.
These could be the first duds in this line! the blue is so pretty and then it goes and flakes itself off! shame 😐
I’ve so rarely seen products flake away… and not INSTANTLY! Like as soon as it set, there were blue crumbs all over my skin.
I am pretty disappointed with the color pay off 🙁 And glitter fall out? Aw hell no, I think I’ll pass.
Me too 🙁
Oh wow, what happened here??? What did they do to an otherwise great formula? Not cool, Dior!
There are other equally sparkly shades like Reveuse… yet none of the other shades have actually FLAKED! away.
This initially looked so promising but what an awful experience for the product to be flaking! The colours are quite beautiful though!
LOL! I was so surprised, I was confused.
Ouch at that grade – these eyeshadows are usually good, aren’t they? And that blue is a lovely colour.
Yes, they are! They’re super sparkly, so their biggest ding has always been light fall out – enough that I can notice if I look but not so much that others would really notice, but these two were far worse.
Better options available at lower prices. Second one looks like a dupe for All Night Blue infallible by L’oreal.
Probably similar in many ways!
eeee! C and F grade:( I’m gonna skip these
I wish I did 🙁
Such a shame about the blue. It’s stunning.
Indeed!
Reveuse is a gorgeous color; I wonder if something like Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy would prevent it from flaking off.
It seemed like it was too dry once it set, so I’m not sure if Pixie Epoxy would help or not (probably would help a little, though!).
Wow I almost made the plunge on this even before your reviews, I am so glad I didn’t!
Phew!!
Rêveuse looks gorgeous ! Too bad about the quality ! 🙁
Xoxo
Michelle
I wish it was better 🙁
*Taked off hat, hold to chest*
…
*moment of silence for a blue shadow that could have been awesome*
…
*single tear rolls down cheek*
…
OK, that was melodramatic. 😛 But still!
Thankfully, it is more dupable than not, so some powder versions are better 😀
Awwww, I was hopping these would be good.
Me too 🙁
Ouch! They look pretty on…but I totally get the too sheer thing (I love sort of sheer so sometimes make bad bets on “sheers”). But flaking? No! Not acceptable. Glad I skipped these…
I think Trompe L’Oeil can work sheer, but the blue, not so much (I always find blue looks funky sheered out, usually!).
So disappointed over the blue. I really wanted that one but after seeing your review…..pass.
I was SO excited initially! 🙁
Wow these look a glittery mess. I love glitter but the base is too sheer and patchy. It’s a shame because Dior cream eyeshadows are usually pretty nice
I know, right? I hope the next ones they release are better.
What a crying shame! These look so nice but clearly do not deliver on the application front. You’d expect better from Dior. Is it my imagination or does Dior seem to be having more misses than hits on the eyeshadow front these days?
They did really well this line initially, but some of the additions haven’t been so great.
Hmm, I don’t feel drawn to these at all.
Any plans to review Smoky Gold?
Sorry, I didn’t purchase it!
Ok 🙂
I brought both and they look nothing like your application. I even had guys compliment me when I wore them. I used my tom ford primer and .layered the shadow by packing it on. I am definitely keeping mine.
Glad you like yours! I don’t use primer when I’m testing products that claim to be long-wearing, so maybe your Tom Ford primer helped out!
You did another icy blue look. Lovely. Pity about the quality of these eyeshadows, I must say. I would have wanted the silver one.
But, more money saved! Yay!
I do think I must add My Boyfriend’s Jeans to my list, though. Wonderful colour!
I love, LOVE My Boyfriend’s Jeans!
And I love that you just wrote that! 🙂
The Dior Mono line is an extreme disappointment.
I quite like the line myself, just not these!
