Rose Tulle (743)

Dior Rose Tulle (743) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, pink-leaning color story with four shimmery shades (they ranged from satin to glitter) paired with one matte shade. The quality was decent, but the formula was better prior to being reformulated as the newer formula is a bit thinner and has weaker longevity.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.

There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.

Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

I have such a soft spot for Dior so even though these aren’t colours I’d wear, I’m glad it rated well. I agree with you though – why did they have to ruin the formerly good thing they had with that release from 2 or 3 years ago? It was so good! The earlier one still – that had the Feel 5-pan – was also really good. I’m pleased that this one isn’t dreadful.

I really love the old formula of Dior shadows and they color stories that they put together. I haven’t purchased any in quite a long time. I use to buy at least one palette from every release. I don’t think that there are a lot of shades in this palette that I would wear or that I don’t already have dupes of but still happy that it rated well and hoping that Dior can make a comeback. I do still like their blush and lipstick formula’s.

I swear, my fingers get ahead of my brain all of the time and I write like I am illiterate. You know how you go back and read and because you know what you planned to write, you read it the way you think it is and now how you actually typed it, well that is me!!

It is good to read that this quint is better than some of the others released this year and the quint is a cohesive one. A couple of the shades I do like, but I question why Dior had to ruin a perfectly good metallic shade by adding glitter – that is more like a CP kind of thing to do. It spoilt the colour – which is quite pretty.
