According to Dior, this holiday’s limited edition highlighter is supposed to give a “natural glow.” The powder is very soft and finely-milled, to the point that it gets powdery and the shimmer doesn’t seem as well-integrated with the base. I was worried about how this would apply after I had swatched it, but it seemed to go on quite nicely and didn’t look powdery or dry on the skin (though I have normal skin at the moment). It also produced a noticeable sheen–far greater than the swatch would have you anticipating!–that didn’t emphasize pores. The powder blended well over the skin, and it wore well for seven and a half hours before fading. Worth repeating, but this is very, very similar to Cosmopolite while the holiday iteration just reads more shimmery when applied to the face.

Well, at least the shimmer isn’t just an overlay this year, lol!
True!! I kept rubbing away and it stayed shimmery, so I was happy!
It’s pretty. But, at $82, I expect better. The dupes are better IMO.
It seems quite overpriced, IMO!
That’s one major reason I’m not getting it, for that $$$’s, I’d much rather get the Guerlain Meteorites Perles de Neiges! Besides, WnW Reserve Your Cabana is a super close looking dupe.
So pretty but awfully pricey. I remember when I thought the Kevyn Aucoin highlighter shown in the Dupes List was pricey (granted, it’s about half the amount) but this is really pricey. Nice looking packaging but still a bit too pricey for my liking.
It’ll still take a good while to make a dent in the Kevyn Aucoin highlighter, so might as well get the better one!
For $82, I can’t say I’m that excited about this, although at least it’s an improvement over last year’s holiday highlighter from Dior. There are just so many good highlighters out there these days!
It’s quite pricey! I don’t think it’s worth the $82.
At first sight I thought it looked similar to MAC’s Soft and Gentle on your cheeks but looking closer at the swatches I see that Soft and Gentle is slightly warmer. Looking at the dupes, amazing there’s $24 difference between this and Dior’s Cosmopolité Nude and yet they look very similar, although the latter is a little bit less glowy than this.
I was surprised at how much more shimmery this appeared on compared to Cosmopolite!
Wow, the packaging and color is very pretty ! I would be tempted, but too bad it has fragrance, my face can’t take it. I was wondering if you were going to review the Dior Mono Fusion cream shadow in Blazing that was part of this collection?
The packaging is very hefty!
Because I feel as if I hit the jackpot with WnW Reserve Your Cabana, I don’t feel that I really need this one, or most other similar products. Ever since I bought that one immediately upon reading your review of it, I use it EVERY day as my finishing powder, and it looks divine!
YAY! So glad it works for you, Nancy!
Do the shimmers go all the way through or does it have an overspray like last year’s?
The shimmer seemed to go through for me – I wiped away several layers before swatching or using it.
I love that soft glow it gives. It’s a drag that it’s LE. I can’t afford this now but I would save up for it.
It does have a pretty sheen!
That is more sheen than I would have expected based on the swatch! I like that it doesn’t emphasize pores!
Always nice when they don’t!
I feel silly asking but do you use this as a highlighter or all over the face?
It’s too much highlighter for my personal preference, so I wouldn’t use it all over my face but that is based on my preferences 🙂
Thank you! In my day a compact of powder was for the face : ) I’m learning!
Hi Christine!
How is KA Celestial Powder more shimmery? I thought the Candlelight powder didn’t have any visible shimmer or glitter.
The sheen is more visible 🙂
Thanks!
I can’t really tell how it looks on you Christine because it has blended so well onto your skin – which is what it is meant to do. But I love the colour, so this is a plus for me.
Glad you like the color!
For half the cost and a full letter grade better in quality, I’d definitely choose KA Candlelight over this. What a day, when I think $44 dollars for a highlighter is the cheaper option, even when you consider that KA is .11 oz when it used to be .17 for the same cost!
Candlelight is a really good one, too! Sometimes more isn’t necessary, too!
I know, Candlelight’s in my cart (hopefully) for the VIB sale which is usually in November!
Very pretty, but for the price I really wish Dior would pull out an “A” grade!!!
Maybe one day, haha!
The packaging is nice. Reminds me of an old fashioned pocket watch, but $82? The folks at Dior are losing their minds!
And I just have to second the emotion that Kevyn Aucoin’s Candlelight is amazing. I balked at the price tag too, but it is a gorgeous highlighter. I’ve had it almost year and have barely made a dent in it. A truly sound investment. Well, it terms of makeup!
Candlelight really is a stunner!
Oh yes, that’s quite a lot of sheen indeed. But I don’t think it’s too much, it looks lovely.
It is nice!
I wish I didn’t because it’s so expensive but I love this so much!
Aww!
Dior managed to make something I like! Wow!
Very pretty, indeed, looks lovely on you, Christine.
I don’t think I’ll buy it, it is a bit too expensive when there are so many holiday LE’s I want more than a highlighter, I think the ones I have will last me for the rest of my life.
Thank you, Helene!
I so wanted this…even for the packaging alone. Too bad it isn’t an “A” but a B+ is good as well. 🙂 It is a little overpriced though…as others have pointed out…
Aww!
