Dior Gold Rain (164) & Pink Excess (663) Addict Gloss Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Dior Gold Rain (164) Addict Gloss
Dior Gold Rain (164) Addict Gloss ($29.50 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a sheer, white gold with light-medium gold shimmer and sparkle. It lasts for two and a half hours, though the lightweight, non-sticky, creamy consistency meant it was very comfortable and nicely hydrating during that time. The formula is supposed to be a sheerer, lightweight, hydrating, and high-shine gloss, and Dior delivers–it’s a matter of whether sheer is your thing (or not). MAC Pussywillow (LE, $15.00) is darker. Bobbi Brown Rose (LE, $24.00) is less golden. Guerlain Gold Tchlack (P, $30.00) has a clearer base. Dior Lame Gold (LE, $28.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Dior Pink Excess (663) Addict Gloss ($29.50 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium pink-coral with pink and gold sparkle. It had semi-sheer color coverage, but this one had more impact applied than Gold Rain, as it did noticeable tint the lips and add sparkle. It wasn’t quite as glossy, though. It lasted for three hours on me and was very hydrating over time. Gucci Beauty Crushed Coral (P, $32.00) is more orange. Dior Rieuse (373) (P, $35.00) is more pigmented. Josie Maran Timeless Coral (P, $18.00) is less sparkly. NARS Salamanca (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Sonate (178) (P, $29.50) is pinker. Revlon Papaya (P, $7.49) is more pigmented, finer shimmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Dior Addict is my favorite lipgloss formula but I am not super impressed with these two shades.
What are your fave shades, Agata?
Meh. I agree, Pink Excess has more impact but still, I don’t think I’ll ever spend this amount of money on a gloss. If I’m splurging on Dior it’ll be on lipstick! 🙂
Dior’s lipsticks are better, I think! 🙂
Naming ‘gold rain’ to their gloss :S Are they serious?
Well, now that you’ve mentioned it, you’ve put my mind on that track, lol!
I have number 267 Cashmere Pink and although I find that it’s really high quality, I usually wear it alone with subtle looks because I find that whenever I layer it, it ‘melts’ the lipstick and sheers it out. I’ve been checking out this nude one without any sparkles, maybe that one will work a little better, but overall I prefer the liquid lipstick line from Dior.
Interesting! By chance, have you paired it mostly with matte/satin finishes for lipsticks?
Gold Rain is definitely up my alley (and yes, sheer is one of my go-to’s). Thank you for the clear, concise review!
Happy to help, Sydney! 🙂 Sheer gloss has its place!
the shades look quite weak in the pigmentation department 🙁
The formula is designed to be sheer, so you might want to consider the Fluid Sticks instead if you prefer more opacity!
I really like the way Gold Rain looks in the bottle, wish it was a little more opaque like that. Do you know of any? This did remind me how much I like salamanca and rieuse it pretty too.
Maybe one of these? http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery?sg=113398,112459,97557,90668&lips=1
Both are pretty (I am quite partial to a basicallyclearwithsparkles gloss…) but Pink Excess is indeed the lovelier of the two. I like that has subtle sparkles (stealth sparkles perhaps?) but that you still do see them on the lips 🙂
Stealth sparkles, lol! Your comments are always so fun to read. I never know what term you’re going to coin next 😀
Christine, are these similar at all in the effect to MAC Dazzleglasses? Gold Rain seems close to them, but are they as sparkly?
Dazzleglass is more sparkly – definitely larger and more prevalent sparkle!
Pink Excess is quite nice.
Do you think you’ll indulge in it?
Those are very pretty. I like the subtle but definite shimmer to them.
Glad ya liked ’em, Rachel!
I wish Pink Excess was a little more opaque but it’s still quite pretty
I could see it being prettier if it had more opacity!
Well that’s a shame! I was looking forward to these 🙁
Aww 🙁 Are you a big fan of this formula usually?
Dior Pink Excess is definitely on my wishlist now!! Love love the shade on you!
Thank you, Stephanie!
I do like shimmery glosses, and these are both pretty, however I don’t really find them beautiful enough to pay as much for a gloss, even if it is hydrating.
Do you have any shades from Dior’s gloss range, Helene?
Not anymore. They all got either used up or went bad.
Dior used to be my go to brand years ago. I still have a couple of lipsticks and loads of eyeshadows from back then. I think I liked their glosses, but I’m one of the strange ones who love lipglosses from MAC.
Your blush is beautiful in these photos.~
Thank you, Wendy! Hope you are well.
Hey Christine! Both look amazing on you! From the promo pics and description, Pink Excess looked divine, like Nymphette+Orgasm but now….no. Underwhelmed. 🙁 Oh well, money saved! About Gold Rain, do you think it compares to Oyster Girl from Mac? Thanks!
I don’t think I have Oyster Girl (for shame, I know, I am missing a lot of MAC’s permanent lip color range!), but from swatches I’ve seen, Oyster Girl seems to have a pinker base? Though it might look more similar on if the pink ends up getting lost.
