Dior Diorkiss (578) Dior Addict Lipstick
Dior Dior Addict Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) was recently reformulated and relaunched for fall with a large variety of shades. I bought three to try, which are reviewed below. The updated formula is supposed to have “intense color” with a “long-lasting top coat” for greater shine and longer wear. I can only speak based on the three I tried, but the coverage is more semi-sheer to semi-opaque, lightweight and a little clingy, with natural shine. They wear three to four hours and are lightly hydrating. I was surprised to discover that they were unscented (and also had no taste), as I associate Dior lip products as usually being perfumed. The texture is more balm-like, and they soften as they melt against the warmth of the lips, but they never really drag or tug, even initially. I actually quite liked them as a lip product, but I was completely surprised that they weren’t marketed as more buildable/medium-coverage products, so if you like your lip color sheerer, you may like these, but if you were drawn in by the promise of intense or “high-impact” color, I’d look elsewhere.
Dior Diorkiss (578) Dior Addict Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium rosy pink with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff that went on fairly evenly and smoothly, but it was nowhere near “intense” in coverage. The color lasted for three hours on me and was lightly hydrating. Tarte Punch (LE, $16.00) is brighter, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Tulip (P, $16.00) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Infamous (228) (P, $30.00) is lighter, more pigmented, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Out for Passion (LE, $20.00) is warmer (85% similar). Revlon Demure (P, $8.49) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). MAC Mystical (LE, $19.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Urban Decay Fiend (DC, $22.00) is lighter, glossier (90% similar). Surratt Beauty Perfectionniste (P, $34.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Cary (P, $36.00) is more shimmery, darker, more pigmented (90% similar). Bite Beauty Hazelnut (DC, $28.00) is lighter, more pigmented, less glossy (80% similar). Dior Fashion Night (881) Dior Addict Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium-dark berry pink with lighter fuchsia and violet pearl. It had semi-sheer color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly with a light shine. There was subtle shimmer that was fine and never felt gritty, but it was still noticeable on. The color lasted for four hours on me, and it was moderately hydrating while worn. Gucci Beauty Bitter Grape (DC, $39.00) is darker, more pigmented (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Otranto (LE, $55.00) is more shimmery, lighter (80% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Alasdhair (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, darker, more pigmented (85% similar). Surratt Beauty Glitterati (P, $36.00) is warmer (90% similar). Chanel Erik (456) (P, $37.00) is cooler (85% similar). Estee Lauder Intriguing (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, warmer, less glossy (90% similar). ColourPop Tiger (LE, $7.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Cabaret (146) (DC, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter, more pigmented (90% similar). MAC Boyfriend Stealer (LE, $19.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Dior Be Dior (976) Dior Addict Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium, pinky-red with very subtle, fine fuchsia pearl. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that noticeably tinted the lips but allowed a lot of the natural lip color to come through. The shimmer is subtle, as is the shine. On me, this lasted for four hours, but the shine was gone after two hours, so this ended up looking more like a soft stain. ColourPop Peacocky (LE, $7.00) is darker, cooler, less glossy (95% similar). Chanel Etienne (446) (P, $37.00) is warmer (95% similar). Revlon Sorbet (DC, $7.49) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Suspense (P, $37.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (90% similar). Guerlain Illusion (660) (DC, $37.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Guerlain Red Teddy (021) (P, $32.00) is lighter (85% similar). Revlon Whimsical (115) (DC, $8.99) is lighter, brighter, glossier (85% similar). Revlon Flirtatious (125) (DC, $8.99) is brighter, glossier (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

All of the colors you chose look great! I prefer semi-opaque lipsticks so I’m going to have to seriously consider purchasing one of these! The packaging is gorgeous too. Ugh, my poor wallet!
Thanks, Maren! I can see these appealing to a lot of people!
I like the fact the Estee Lauder Scultping Shine formula has better payoff with a good gloss finish. Pass on these.
I was surprised these weren’t glossier!
Hi Christine – I just wanted to let you know that every time I’ve accessed your site recently I’ve gotten a popup asking me to open or save “analytics.js from s.admathhd.com.” It asks me every time I load any reviews/swatches etc as well. I’m not sure if that’s important or not but I thought I would let you know! I’m on IE for reference.
I will pass this along to tech! That doesn’t sound like something that we are loading, but it sounds like something an ad is loading so we’ll see if we can track down the particular ad and reach out to the network.
It has been happening to me on IE, too.
I wonder if people in the PR dept ever try the products? Maybe some shades have “intense color” but these don’t. I like the sparkles in Fashion Night but don’t want to pay this much for a sheer lipstick
It does make you wonder! Sometimes it seems like brands are allergic to words like sheer, semi-sheer, etc. There’s definitely a market for not 100% opaque, lol!
These are really pretty! I like Fashion Night the best of these. Putting one or two on the wish list for after-Holiday madness! Maybe I’ll sneak one in before Christmas. Isn’t there an insane amount of shades? 40 or something? I may be wrong. I’m thinking I read that.
Oh, yeah, there are a ton of shades!
I love the ease of a sheer lippie for everyday use – but I think I will stick to the cheaper UD lippies to achieve this look!
It’s always strange to me when the marketing really doesn’t line-up with the product, because I can see plenty of people enjoying these for something with color but not totally opaque coverage!
These are beautiful! I heard a horrible rumor that the Dior Addict Extremes (one of my favorites) are being discontinued?? Can you confirm or deny?
I have no idea! The people who would know best would be someone who works at a Dior counter – could try calling one (even if you don’t live near one) just to ask!
I’d be interested in hearing about the fate of the Dior Addict Extremes as well! I love those (and even a few of the non-shimmer Addicts from the last iteration; they had a nice gel finish and pigment that was vibrant but slightly translucent). I haven’t found another lipstick that has the same sort of finish as the Addict Extremes…
I want to like Fashion Night but it’s so sheer. I really wish it had a little more coverage
I have Be Dior. I had to get it as I have nothing like it in my lipstick wardrobe. The color looks beautiful on you Christine.
Hi Christine, would you recommend me a dupe for “Be Dior” that is not shimmery? I love the whole pinky-red semi-sheer thing, but hate shimmer on my lips.
Diorkiss looks super pretty!
I swatched the range last week and I can tell you that the shades you picked are some of the most pigmented Christine! There are a lot of nudes/light pinks/peaches in the range that look almost completely transparent. I think the darker/bolder shades can be built, I bought Fashion Night and I get it to look more semi-opaque, but the lighter shades are a bit of a letdown compared to the old formula.
There’s supposed to be 3 finishes in this range, Glow, Glitter, and Flash, with Flash yielding the best color payoff. The shades were all mixed up in the display so I can’t confirm, but none really seemed to have the pigmentation the Addict Extreme had!
LOL! Well, that doesn’t bode well at all! I wonder why they didn’t just say they were buildable…
Yikes! Thanks for the info. I can safely skip this entire collection, not paying $35 for tinted lip balm or chapstick.
$35 for what is basically a tinted lip balm is plain nuts for me, so even though I am going bananas for Be Dior and Fashion Night, I’ll be looking into any UD Sheer dupes or even the cheaper ones.
Be Dior is my fave out of the three!
Seriously? I get more color than this out of the Burt’s Bees lip balms. If I’m going to use something this sheer I would probably grab for my Tarte LipSurgence products, even though the colors are somewhat limited and they discontinued the one that was a true red 🙁
Whilst these are not my kind of colours – too pink, but I can see that they would be excellent day time lipsticks for those who love these colours.
I feel like I’d be more receptive to these if they wouldn’t advertise “intense color” for products that are clearly not fully opaque. I’m totally down with sheer/buildable lipsticks, but only when they’re advertised as such! To be honest I’d probably be receptive to a lot more products if only they didn’t make obviously false claims in their advertising – “24-hour wear” lipsticks, for example. YOUR LIPSTICK DOES NOT WEAR FOR 24 HOURS. It’s just better to advertise your products honestly instead of raising customers’ expectations only to fall way short of them.
I picked a few of these up, and completely agree that they definitely aren’t a high impact lipstick. I blame advertisement. I was sucked in by the memorizing video of Jennifer Lawrence putting on these lipsticks. I am living proof that hiring a likable spokesperson really does work! Haha!
You chose very pretty colours, but my, are these sheer! At least I think so, but then I like opaque super-pigmented lipsticks. When i want sheer, I tend to go for glosses.
I can see these being very popular, though. Most people aren’t like me 🙂
I can so see a place for these in the market, but boy, they really should have re-though the marketing.
These are sheer, but really pretty. I really like Fashion Night.
They are! I wish they were billed as a sheer/buildable formula.
These are gorgeous. And unfragranced, yippee!
you found them sheer i found them pretty buildable :/ be dior is my fav and if you add a few more coats it truly fushia they were marketed as a super glossy lipstick which they are some are light shades some dark they stay glossy unlike most lipsticks that dry down.
Glad you like ’em, Charity! I don’t think they’re bad as a general product, but they’re not “intense color” at all. If you have use several layers, that’s still a sheer product, not at all “intense color” as described, so that is why they did not rate well.
