Dior Atlantique (344) 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Dior Atlantique (344) 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette
Dior Atlantique (344) 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette ($61.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a new and limited edition, cool-toned palette that features three blue-hued eyeshadows, a shimmery silver, and a medium brown (that is very warm-toned, so it seems out of place). The good news is this wasn’t as bad as Rivage, which made any blue eyeshadow lover instantly tear up. It’s still not a hit, and it’s hard to forgive major errors at this price point. The darkest blue is incredibly powdery, dusty, and sheer. The silver shade is mostly silver shimmer, and the light blue is so-so. The best performer was the medium blue, followed by the brown, which was still a little powdery. On the lid, wear time varied dramatically depending on shade, so if that’s a deal-breaker, I’ve noted the wear times with each shade below.
Atlantique #1 is a sheer, sparkly silver with cool undertones. There’s no real colored base, just silver shimmer and larger silver sparkle. It’s better patted over another shade than used on its own. There was some fall out over time, and it seemed to last about five hours before most of the sparkle had moved onto bigger and better things (namely, my cheeks). Divergent Transform (LE) is less sparkly. Dior Dulcinee #3 (LE) is a cream product, more pigmented. MAC Platinum Love (LE, $19.50) is less sparkly, more metallic. bareMinerals Steam (LE, $14.00) is more metallic. MAC Bleuluxe #1 (P) is more pigmented. Chanel Infini (P, $28.50) is more pigmented. Bobbi Brown Tinsel (LE) is more pigmented. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Atlantique #2 is a light-medium, sky blue with a subtle sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage, and the texture was a little powdery to work with, so it was prone to disappearing when blended on the lid. It’s best to pat this shade in place and only finesse the edges. It lasted for seven hours on me before fading. Dior Dulcinee #5 (LE) is greener. MAC Clearwater (P, $18.50) is a cream product, more muted. Disney by Sephora Blue Oasis (LE) is greener. MAC Sky Blue (P, $15.00) is slightly greener. Giorgio Armani Swimming Pool Turquoise (LE) is darker. Dior Swimming Pool #3 (LE) is a touch cooler-toned. Dior Blue Lagoon (374) Eyeshadow #1 (LE) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Atlantique #3 is a navy blue with fine, navy blue shimmer. The texture was soft but quite powdery, and the resulting color payoff was dismal–semi-sheer at best. It applied unevenly, and it was difficult to blend out on the lid. It managed to stay on for almost seven hours, though, but getting it to look half-decent was a challenge. MAC Indigo Blend #2 (LE) is darker. Makeup Geek Nautica (P, $5.99) is more shimmery. Chanel Metamorphose (44) #4 (LE) is darker, brighter. MAC Shop & Drop (LE, $15.00) is darker. bareMinerals Climax (P) is brighter, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Atlantique #4 is a medium, muted periwinkle blue with a soft, pearly sheen. It had really good pigmentation, and the texture was balanced between soft and smooth without being powdery. This color wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading. Wet ‘n’ Wild I Don’t Do Camouflage #3 (LE, $2.29) is darker. NARS Rated R #2 (P, $24.00) is more matte, brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Atlantique #5 is a medium brown with very fine golden shimmer, yellow-y undertones, and a satin finish. It had fairly good color coverage, and the texture was just slightly powdery. The color lasted well for eight hours. MAC Butterfudge (P, $15.00) is lighter, cream product. Wet ‘n’ Wild Naked Truth #5 (P, $2.29) is darker. Makeup Geek Hipster (P, $5.99) is more muted, less warm-toned. Too Faced Hazelnut (P, $16.00) is more shimmery. Makeup Geek Brown Sugar (P, $5.99) is similar. Anastasia Truffle (LE) is warmer. theBalm C4 (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. Disney by Sephora Bazaar (LE) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It’s odd, but just looking at the top photo and before even looking at your rating(s), I could see that this was going to be dismal. It just seems to share a look – even in photos – of Dior’s really disappointing 5-pan shadows.
I really do know better. I do. Dior and blue don’t go together, and I know this, but I continue to persist on buying.
Hey, who knows….maybe one day, your faith will be rewarded and they’ll hit one out of the park (but til then, there’s always Urban Decay!)
Man, Dior can’t do color to save themselves, can they?
Apparently not if it is blue 🙁
Yikes. You just saved some people money for not buying this one! The swatches are painful to look at.
That navy blue 🙁
Oh wow, I know that dior eyeshadows have a reputation for being sheer but atlantique #3 is plain embarrassing.
LOL!
Looks so pretty in the package but so disappointing that some of these colors are so patchy looking! And at that price point…
Totally unforgivable at this price point!
I’d expect a lot better quality pigmentation from Dior… a bit of a disappointment!
Me too!
Eeeek atlantique swatches like one of those eyeshadows you’d get as a child!
*atlantique 3
It’s sooo sad!
Oh how sad! So many bloggers raved about it, I guess it’s easy to do when you get the product sent!
Maybe I’m just the lucky one who got a dud!
The most recent Dior and Chanel have made me really hesitant about ever buying high end eye shadow… they all just seem so meh! From what I’ve seen I’m better of with $3 wet n wild than Dior!
Chanel’s usually decent (not all are great, and not all are “worth it”) compared to Dior, which can fail spectacularly.
I’ve been so not sold on higher end eyeshadow palettes over the past while. I may grab the odd one because I convince myself the colours are unique, but when I think about use, I rarely go for them in my stash. Then I read this review and I’m not surprised whatsoever. That’s sad !
I was originally going to pass… but I was like, “Well, it’ll be weird if I just review Sundeck, right? I have to get both…”
Christine I’m so glad I snagged sundeck from this collection instead of this palette. Sundeck performs much better than this one from reading your review. Thank you for saving my wallet.lol
Phew!! 🙂
Oh Dear poor old Dior – they don’t seem to be doing too well with their eyeshadow palettes do they?! Such a shame as they do lovely lipsticks etc. They must pull their socks up tho’ – I Expect better than C’s and D’s at the prices they charge!
If they put a blue in it, the odds are not in their favor, it seems. Neutrals, absolutely!
Maybe Dior should take a break on the blues for a while and reexamine the creation and pressing process…
I agree!
*sniffle*
No! Syl! Keep looking at #4! It’s going to be OK! Don’t look at the navy, or the weird (here) warm brown!
*lip wobble*
😛
LOOK AWAY!!!!!
How disappointing! You would expect Dior to get it right by now… After all they charge maximum dollars for their products so you would think that what you were purchasing was an extremely good product. Their navy design palette is very good and I have been happy with it. But this palette looks too good to be true.
I just wish they’d stop doing these tempting brighter palettes if they’re not going to commit!
This is pretty, but too much like another one of theirs. Except the one I’m thinking of is really shimmery. 🙂
I feel like Dior often puts out very blue-dominated palettes!
I disagree. I just think that when Dior does blues, we notice it more. 😀
It’s completely insane that something costs this much money and is this bad. It baffles.
It’s so crazy! No excuse!
Dior just cannot do blues to save their lives… you’d think that they would accept this and move on by now…
LOL!
I love Dior, but I am not digging the colors in this palette.
The brown is a weird inclusion to me, IMO! Not with as many blues as it has.
Awww I love a good blue palette! Too bad about this one.
I know! 🙁 Sad!
Just seeing the quint I thought it would be bad. I didn’t think it’s be this bad but wow, what a missed opportunity for Dior.
Poor pigmentation strikes again!
Is it just me or do these colours not even look that great together in a palette?
The blues work, I think, though obviously a very blue-heavy look which may or may not be one’s cup of tea. The brown is so warm and yellow, and I think it needs another shade or two that would work well with both blue/brown to make it all work together.
Agreed! 🙂 The fact that there’s only one brown/warm tone seems off
They should do a lot better considering the price.
Dior used to be one of my favourite brands, I have a lot of their palettes, some excellent (more neutral ones and the purpleish, even pink) and some quite disappointing one with two blueish shadows and the LE from autumn or winter lawst year, can’t remember when I got them.
I’m so glad I found this site, Christine, saves me a lot of money.
I’m glad I can help you save money! At least, some of the time 😉
I’m not into blues eye shadow to begin with, but I assumed this would have better payoff!
In my heart of hearts, I knew it was going to be a miss, lol!
I get sad every time somebody messes up blue since it’s my favourite colour.
It’s a color I love a lot, too, so it’s frustrating when brands screw it up!
