Did you discover any new (to you!) brands that you enjoyed this year?

Dandy Lions eyeshadows, which I have not formally reviewed, but have a huge color selection and work for more buildable application, especially for unusual colored mattes.

Perhaps Ouai (I love their bath and body stuff), though that could have been the previous year. And not new to me but I am drifting back to Elizabeth Arden. I’ve used Eight Hour Cream, Lip Fix, the bi-phase eye makeup remover and a few other things for many years but I’ve recently “discovered” the Eight Hour Body Cream and the night-time “Miracle” (it kinda is) moisturizing balm/cream product.

Oh, Mariella, Elizabeth Arden use to be my go-to for makeup and skincare. Like you, I had sort of drifted away but I will have to check them out again. I don’t know if they have updated any of their products but I use to love the Eight Hour Cream and felt it was the perfect makeup base. Of course, Red Door Red lipstick has been a favorite red for many years and I have it in three products, the liner, the lipstick and the gloss. Not sure if they still make it but I bought backups a few years ago and I store my backups in the fridge so hopefully they are still okay. Of course, there are a lot of good reds out there now so I doubt I would be crazy upset if it was gone. It actually was a warmer red and not something I usually go for, preferring a bluer based red but there was something about it that just looked right! Hope all is well with you and you are ready for the holiday season!! I haven’t even gotten my tree up yet. I am trying to find it in my storage space. I know it is there someplace but it has successfully been hiding. My daughter also wants me to put up the village around the base of the tree and that is in storage also. If I don’t find it before I find the tree, there won’t be a village this year!

Have you tried EA’s Lip Fix? It’s the BEST lipstick primer I’ve ever tried! When I was in my 20’s I loved the original Visible Difference cream and they also had a line called – ( think – Skin Dynamics or something like that and they had this soft clay mask (I can’t recall but I think it never actually hardened) that contained sulfur or clove or eucalyptus or perhaps all of those and smelled SO strong it would peel the paper off the walls! I never got into their Prevage stuff though I know a lot of my contemporaries LOVE it (I have a lot of GWP stuff from the Prevage line but I’ve never used any of it). But I think the Eight Hour line is a real treasure and like some other products, it has endured BECAUSE it is so good. Some years back, a friend gave me a massive GWP/Holiday “treasure trove” and it included one of the nicest, most flattering eyeshadow palettes (there were TWO palettes but one of them was more brown/gold/neutral (the other was more purple/cool) and it is STILL a favourite and just SO good.

I haven’t tried the Lip Fix but I definitely will check it out. Thank you Mariella. I just recently got a bunch of samples from Chanel because I purchased their mascara and a blush and the SA gave me a handful of their skincare samples. I have been using the eye cream and it is quite good but really expensive. If I keep buying the products I like I may be able to use the eye cream for free for at least a few months, LOL!

These are undoubtedly not new to most of the world but to me in the backwoods of Montana and having not followed makeup for awhile, they are new to me. Westman Atelier, Florasis, Rare Beauty and Kjaer Weis. Also an honorable mention to Ritual de Fille. I had heard of the company via Rachel, hi Rachel, who is my Indie brand guru and I had purchased a few things before the pandemic but not much. I really do love their 3 drop foundation and want to pick up a few eye products to try.

Yes, there are a ton of new names that pop up on my feed but a lot of them are either way expensive for what I want to spend on an untried brand or I haven’t heard enough to make me want to try them. The thing I liked about Rituel de Fille is that they offered a three sample pack of their foundation so I could try to get a good match and I did find one that is very close. In my book, close is good enough. When you are pale as a ghost, white versus white is difficult to find so anything close is good!

Danessa Myricks! After biting the bullet on this most recent (and more my taste!) Lightworks 5 palette, I’m in love with it. So far, I have really enjoyed using it after first laying down a contoured crease with a few, even sometimes just a single transition shade. The only shade that I’m not into is the ultra metallic silver shade.
My experience with this palette has me interested in trying more products from Danessa Myricks going forward!

I was checking this out just last night. The colors and swatches on Sephora reviews looked gorgeous. I have a couple Sephora gift cards, so I might be getting this soon.

Ditto, I was going to say the exact same thing. Discovered DM this year and I have to say her products have really brought me a lot of joy and creativity to my makeup game this year.

I picked it up for Aislinn when we were in Denver. I was a little iffy on it because a couple of YT’ers were really negative about it but it swatched beautifully for Aislinn and so we went ahead. She loves it and has done some amazing looks with it. I am glad to hear that it is working for you, Nancy. I was skeptical about it for myself as some of the shades were pretty extreme. In general, I don’t care what people think about my wearing extreme shades but it was so bright that I thought I might stand out too much at the dump, which is about the only place I go anymore. I won’t be going too many places locally until spring.

I’ve purchased several items from RMS Beauty that I love. The ReDimention Hydra Powder Blush in Kir Royale is a favorite. Also the Back2Brow powder and the Uncoverup Concealer. I think I will buy another of the UncoverUp in a lighter color to mix. I’ve purchased the cream eye shadow in a tube but have only tried it once. I think there’s a bit of a learning curve to apply it. Also new to me this year was the Dior Matte foundation. It’s terrific.

Joocyee, Flortte, Flower Knows, and the rest of the many common C-Beauty brands. I feel like I’ve been smitten with the lighter, cloudier, glittery style of Chinese makeup/AB brands, and I’ve found myself incorporating more glitter eyeliners into my looks. 3CE and Lilybyred also joined the menagerie.

For western brands, maybe Beauty Bakarie? MBA Cosmetics? Glossier for sure, because I picked up their pot concealer. BB and MBA are okay. So many beauty brands and releases aren’t quite capturing me. Tarte still remains as never-tried. Same with Bare Minerals and Smashbox.

I love Florasis and Flower Knows brands and have purchased many products. I also love Canmake, Rom&nd, Etude House and several others. I am naturally drawn to the lighter looks and the glitter/shimmer also and since I am almost 70, the lighter shades are working for me. I am also going through a bit of a one and done phase and many of the Asian brands cater to that aesthetic. I find myself loving the whole Aegyl-Sal eye treatment/enhancing and regret not having one to highlight, LOL!! I love watching Pony’s YT videos as she is such a good teacher.

Indie makeup really had my heart this year. Odens Eye, Fantasy Cosmetica, and Glaminatrix all were on my buying list this year for the first time and I really love them all.

Just had to share my love for Kryolan products! 💄 Already a proud owner of many, and the fact that they’re non-toxic is a game-changer. Recently dipped my brushes into their creme blush – https://www.kryolan.com.au/cheeks/blush/cream.html , and let me tell you—I’m officially flabbergasted! 😱 It’s like a burst of radiant color that transforms my look, and I’m kicking myself for not trying it earlier. 🥲 Plus, the cherry on top: it’s non-toxic, so my skin is loving the glam without any compromise. ✨ If you haven’t given creme blush a shot, trust me, it’s a makeup revelation! 🙌

RMS! Just loving their glowy baked gelee blushes. I’ve collected six shades! I just ordered one of their cream shadows in the tube to try. I usually stick to my usual favorite brands but decided to branch out after watching so many rave reviews on YouTube for the blushes.

Other than the W7 (first time purchasing this year), no. But I don’t think I’ll buy another palette from them unless they do as good a job on duping some high-end brand (ND, PML, etc.) who’s palette I missed or really like, like the Trichrome one from ND, boohoo!
