We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I’ve never been madly “brand loyal” or felt I had to have the newest releases from any company (Tom Ford, Pat McGrath or even my beloved Chanel) but I feel this even less now as brands discontinue some of my favourite stuff and “replace” it with products of inferior quality (and often at inflated prices).

Treat Beauty. I won’t be buying from them again period. The quality has declined across the board, from their products to their attitude to their customer service.

I would have to say a lot of them – but there will probably be a few lipsticks I’ll pick up and maybe something wonderful from Pat or Natasha – if it’s in my colours. Most likely another foundation if I can find what I want at a reasonable price. Just some individual products.

Yes, I’ve already started recently and surprisingly don’t miss them at all. I’m boycotting Dior, Givenchy, Chanel and basically everything under L’Oreal which is a lot of brands including Nyx, Lancome etc

It’s really important to me that my ethics on human rights line up with where I spend my money and in the past 60 days I’ve gone cold turkey with these brands and others in haircare (Amika, Moroccanoil) and skincare (Kiehl’s). Saved a lot of money on black friday šŸ˜€ Hope to save much more in 2024 and to find better dupes of all of the items I used to enjoy from these companies.

Since I have come back to makeup I have definitely spent more time on the higher end brands and less on drug store and “cheaper” brands. I may sound a bit like a snob but a lot of cheaper or maybe I should say, more economical brands, tend to break me out and I don’t have breakouts. Even in my teens, I had very little acne and most of it was hormonal and stress. I can remember having the worse break outs of my life the month before my final exams for nursing school. It was so bad that when I went to pick up my graduation pictures my face was practically completely obliterated by acne and I can remember the receptionist gently mentioned that they had retouching available if I wanted to try that and then when she opened my pictures to show me and my skin was perfect and blemish free you could see she was a bit embarrassed. Anyway, I digress. I am not sure what is in a lot of drug store makeup that would cause a reaction but as long as i stick to the things I have now, I am okay. So, there are no brands that I won’t buy next year but it is more related to what is working for me and what is not. I long ago stopped buying from a lot of brands. The list of who I buy from is much less than those I don’t anymore. Plus, the brand profiles changed a lot while I was away and brands that were readily available and had great products, seem to have disappeared even though they are still in business. I am thinking of brands like Buxom and Mally.

I just saw some sneak peeks of upcoming spring releases and my initial reaction is that I will be buying less next year from all brands. It’s actually fortunate because I anyway own more than I could ever use up and I have really lovely makeup products that deserve to be used and appreciated. I am not disappointed with any brand in particular, there just seems to be a lot of repetitive releases.

Iā€™m done with Laura Mercier forever (after many years of being truly loyal). Since it was sold I do look at some products and they all look, smell and feel like dime store.
