Last November (yes, November), I bought just over 50 eyeshadows from Devinah Cosmetics across their Matte Shadows and Pressed Pigment formulas. (Apparently, one set I purchased is only available as a bundle, oops!) After seeing regular readers across the blog and my social media channels mention this brand frequently, I decided to try them out. I have tested about 25% of the shades and have definitely found some of the concerning shades (when swatched) do apply better in practice. They have a more powdery/loosely-pressed and/or drier formula (and my arms are pretty dry, so that type of texture doesn’t adhere as well as a result), particularly the mattes and more sparkly shades (metallics are smoother, denser).

Psyched! I’m pleasantly surprised that you’re reviewing these. I’ve bought a few things from Devinah (two pre-made palettes and one palette I put together of purple shadows) and I really like their eye shadows. You are right in that they apply better than they swatch but I’ve been pleased with my purchases and won’t hesitate to purchase form Devinah again.

Awesome! Devinah eyeshadows are the only ones I can use because they don’t have substances I am allergic too. They are pigment, super soft, blend beautifully without getting muddy. My collection only grows. Good bye mainstream brands.

All of the shades that I have are pressed pigments. I was surprised by that when I went and looked! Anyway, I counted and I have 12 shades. The one’s that I like and use more frequently are: Willow, Starlit, Stunned, Reseda, Ladylove, Martini, Mermaid, Entice and Elicit. The other three are shades that I just didn’t love on me personally. Some of these are powdery but not any more so than say, ABH. I like the looks of several of the shades you are going to review so looking forward to it.

Thank you so much for this!! I’ve almost ordered from them a dozen times but in the end can’t settle on what to get and bail. This will help me for that first order for sure. If you do decide to get more of them, can you pick up some of the reds and highlighters, please?

I feel ya!!! There’s SOOO many to choose from it’s seriously overwhelming!!! I haven’t actually gotten to the point of placing an order yet, either, although I really really have been dying to try them!!! Especially some of those duochromes….I live and breath for duochromes!!!

I have about 6 shades including pretty light blue. They are powdery, bad quality and blend into nothing. Worse than morphe if that’s possible. Save your money and go for makeup geek or colourpop.

I had the same experience with this brand. They don’t build and blend into nothing. I tried putting them on over a cream base and that worked. My eyelids are oily so it is impractical. I bought the pink icing bundle and some singles.

I have a bunch of their shadows!!! So happy you’re doing this! I’ve found the exact same thing. They swatch badly on the arm (dry-feeling shimmers, powdery and hard to build-up mattes BUT!!! They apply beautifully to the eyelid and I don’t even use primer. I’ve made some beautiful sunset looks with their red, orange and yellow mattes that were effortless to blend.

Oh glad you are reviewing Devinah shadows! I have a number of them (purples, blues, greens, reds), the matte pastel blues were weak (no surprise) but the rest were very good/good/decent. I have oily lids, so I always use primer. Huge selection of colors (including tons of mattes!!) , unique colors/finishes, comes in range of sizes/prices, very affordable. Their singles are a great way to fill in gaps in your stash. I also have a couple of their Dirty Beautiful Duo Chrome shadows and they’re stunning!

Wow, another epic undertaking. And right after the SG catalog! These have been on my radar for a while. Rachel and Michele Binxcat are fans, iirc. Of course, need more eyeshadow like I need more dog hair…. Came close to getting the Devinah version of the Tarte AF…once a joke, now a reality….but wound up getting the SG. One rabbit hole ought to be enough for this Alice, but……

There is never enough dog hair.. says the owner of a Bernese… My little LH dachshund, Digger, passed away recently with acute pancreatitis brought on by tumour. He was 14 and had an amazing life, but he was my beloved and heart and soul, and I miss him dearly. I have a new puppy, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Henry (or HenHen, or Henny Penny, or Bunny Henry, or little f*%ker). He has brought some much needed levity and merriment.. he’s a little terror bursting with personality..just the kind I love.

I bought the Secret Diaries bundle so I only know how the mattes perform but I’ve found mixed results. I know that some of these shades can be tricky in a matte formula. However, I do agree with your initial reaction some of these don’t blend well. It can be tricky when trying to lay down a dark shadow in the crease or applying it the the outer corner. I am wondering if the other finishes would be better from this brand. I am anxious to hear your reviews.

So glad you are getting into Devinah, Christine. I got the recent green bundle which I don’t think was available in November. It really filled a gap in my collection. Although at first glance, the shades look similar, because a number of them fall into that warm and murky range, I like the nuances though it only has a few cools. I skipped the Colour Pop green palette, Smoke Sessions, and Safari Raine because Devinah had the shades I liked covered. If people really love the cool greens, the CP and Melt may be better. I’ve worn it a lot, have no issues, wear all eye shadows with primer. I also think it pairs well with CP Good Sport which has some light and bright accent metallics in yellow and green.

I’m glad you swatched and are testing these! I have the Wizard of Oz set and a few other shimmer shadows, and they’re beautiful. I haven’t tried any of their mattes yet, so I’m curious to see how good they are. If good, Zane would go on my buy list.

Devinah’s highlighters are excellent, too. I own about a half dozen.
