CoverGirl Summer 2011 Launches
CoverGirl Summer 2011 Launches
In July, CoverGirl launches NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara and Intense ShadowBlast Eye Color. Though CoverGirl noted a July launch, both popped up on several retailers online (like drugstore.com and walgreens.com).
NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara ($8.49)
It’s all about volume without the weight. NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara provides stunning volume that leaves lashes feeling luxuriously light and lifted. The mascara exchanges heavier synthetic waxes and polymers for natural beeswax, carnauba wax and tapioca polymers, which are lighter-feeling alternatives. COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara pairs perfectly with your other favorite NatureLuxe products: Silk Foundation and Gloss Balm, for an overall lightweight look, perfect for summer!
Intense ShadowBlast Eye Color ($7.99)
Try New COVERGIRL Intense ShadowBlast Eye Color, a liquid eye shadow with a built-in primer that transforms into a smooth powdery finish. Crease-resistant and fade-proof, your look will last no matter where your summer plans take you! The Pat McGrath-designed shade palette comes in 6 vibrant liquid-to-powder shades. Available in Beige Blaze, Platinum Pop, Brown Bling, Blue Bomb, Forever Pink, and Extreme Green.

No lipstick? well I just used Cover Girl lip perfection lipstick for a while, and I love them, all the cream colors. I would love to try some more from CG
I bought the intense shadow blast in beige blaze when they put the display out at my CVS. I had read some good reviews and had high hopes. It was a major fail for me though. It didn’t last and looked terrible by the end of the day. The new lash perfection mascara, however, was a win.
Hmm… All of these products are already at my walgreens. That’s odd cause itsays July…
“Crease-resistant” isn’t good enough; sounds like it DOES crease eventually. Also, CG frustrates me constantly with their uninspired colors.
I have the mascara and actually love it ^_^ It’s a nice light weight on, no flaking and the black one I got is very very black. As far a volume it seems about the same as lashblast to me but that’s on my lashes of course.
This is the first low-end liquid eyeshadow I’ve ever seen. If they have a good nude color or purple, I’ll give it a go to see what all the hype’s about.
Mousse mascara? Ehh that sounds like it has the potential to be kinda dry. And dry = flakes.
I feel like an eyeshadow with primer mixed in already sounds like a disaster waiting to happen on your eyelids; seems like the sort of thing that would crease easily. It’s not available at any of my local Walgreens ( 🙁 ) and I wouldn’t dare buy it online, but I would love it if the eyeshadows worked, I love the colors.
the last time covergirl claimed to have a crease resistant product, it was their smoky shadowblast sticks, which i HATE. they crease within 3 hours of wear, no matter WHAT you do, plus i got two (silly me) and step 2 of both of them snapped off at the base! it made me so mad, i chucked them cause i was just so exasperated.
omg, SAME thing happened to me. I returned it the next day for a full refund! ugh. so irritating!
Agreed, even with a seperate primer on the shadow sticks creased within the hour if not immediately, I’ve been skeptical of cg products ever since
UGH hated the shadow sticks! I figured hey its only a few dollars, Ill try it. I thought it would be good for days when Im on the go. FAIL. I put it on and I could not get it to work at all.
Same here! Creased within an hour AND the base broke off.
hmm the mascara sounds interesting. Can’t wait to read more reviews about it
Usually disappointed by Cover Girl products so have learned to not look & save my $.
Saw both at Ulta today. I may try the mascara because I loved the Nature Luxe gloss balms. However, I think I’m going to skip the shadow blast (unless I see several stellar reviews on it) because the smokey shadow blast was not all that great. CG has always just been OK to me. Not the best or the worst but affordable enough to try some of there products.
these look so pretty. i love cream and shadow sticks. so quick and easy.
The cream shadows have worked well for me so far but I have used powders on top every time.
I can’t wait for this! Especially the mascara. Ever since Revlon discontinued the Natural Beauty mascara, I have yet to find one that I really like as much.
I bought the pink and beige cream shadows, and I loved them so much I went back and bought the brown and green. The green is AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS. I have to say I wore it alone without even setting it with a powder and IT DID NOT fade or crease! I do have somewhat oily lids. If people do not believe the product claims they should buy the green for the color alone and use a primer underneath or set it with another shadow.
Funny thing is that I swatched the beige one on the back of my hand when I first got it and completely forgot about it. Well into the next day after showering and washing my hands a bajillion times, I swatched something else on my hand and looked down and some of the beige shadow was still on my hand!
I bought the mascara at Ulta and hate it. It takes too long to dry and did nothing for my lashes except make them wet. The only good thing about this mascara was that it was easy to take off. I bought the water resistant formula too. My lashes couldn’t hold a curl with this mascara because it was too wet despite me wiping off the excess before applying. Thank God I kept my receipt because it’s going back. The CoverGirl lashblast in the yellow tube works 10 times better than this and the waterproof formula holds a curl a little better. Worst product I have ever tried.
I bought this mascara and hated it. Despite wiping off the excess before application, it was too wet and took forever to dry. It did nothing for my lashes – no volume or length and my lashes couldn’t hold a curl. It had the same effect as if I wore clear mascara. I bought the water resistant formula and it ran almost immediately. I have tried lots of mascaras, and this was the worst. The only good thing about this mascara was that it was easy to remove. It was a waste of money and I’m getting my money back.
I love the intense shadow blast! I know people here have said they got creasing but I never have – yet. I wear a primer underneath and treat them like a cream shadow base and I haven’t had any problems. IN FACT, the beige blast is a pretty spot on dupe for MAC’s paint pot in bare study. I think cover girl has had some fails in the past and I agree that the smoky shadow blast was a total fail but the intense shadow blast is a good product, IMO.
OMG……These are so adorable!!!
I just tried the Intense ShadowBlast last night and it made my eyelids burn. Sensitive ladies out there beware.
So the Shadow blast is supposed to be crease-proof, but it creased on me within 4 hours. I prefer the Clinique version of these that came out a few years ago.
I saw these at Ulta, CVS, Target, and Walmart already! I was so tempted to buy a few of the shadows but I’ll wait for a review! hahha.
I love the Extreme Shadow Blasts. They are great for a primer with color, and they last all day, for me. The thing is, with these products, they aren’t really supposed to be used alone. This makes my colors more intense, and I am so glad that more companies are introducing these products to the masses.
I mean Intense. Not Extreme.
Love eyeshadows but not mascara
CoverGirl generally has great mascaras (LOVE lashblast volume), though I’m suspicious of the eyeshadow quality. But if I were 13, I’d be all over this.
I just bought the intense shadow blast in the beige color. I didn’t find it to be opaque enough for my liking, but the worst part is about an hour after applying, my crease felt tight — i thought maybe it was the shadow just feeling dry, but when i looked at my eyelids I saw a red streak across my crease! the worst part is, my lid was burning so badly, it was so painful to get this stuff off. i don’t consider myself to have sensitive eyes, lids, or lashes, but this was horrible. taking it back tomorrow to Ulta for a refund!
Something is wrong with this product! Don’t buy it! I bought green and beige yesterday and tried the beige today, and put it on with a good coating. Well, my eyelids are burning like mad and swelling up. It’s hard to get off too, it burns something terrible. I’ve never been sensitive to any product before – there is something wrong with this product. Don’t buy it!!!!
I agree… something is super wrong with the cream eyeshadows. I bought blue, taupey brown and cream. Within minutes my eyelids were ON FIRE! I have NEVER had a problem with that type of thing. I tried to remove as best as I could, and I think it took some skin off when I did. Left behind huge red swelling.. Like it has cayenne pepper in it or something.. very very odd..and DANGEROUS!! I emailed Covergirl about it.
Within an hour this was burning my eyelids. I have never in my life been sensitive to any makeup at all so I was shocked that this product is so corrosive. I had to use aloe sunburn lotion on my eyelids (carefully) to take away the pain. Do not buy this product! Check other websites – lots of people are saying the same thing. I wish I’d looked at reviews before I bought it.
Shadowblast: Got the platinum one. Uneven application, color sheers out if you try to even it out or blending it. Works just OK as a shadow base. Glad I only bought one.
Mascara: Love it! It’s not mousse-ey at all, has a nice consistency, not dry, not flaky. Works great with my sensitive Lasik operated eyes. Not irritating. Good wear on it too.
In the photo a “drip” of shadow is shown on the applicator. In real life, it is impossible to get anything out of the tube. I bought it as soon as it was available, and there was almost no shadow to come from the tube. I called Cover Girl and told them they had a problem. Someone didn’t check quality contol in Italy where it is manufactured. The company sent me a coupon for a free “anything” from Cover Girl and some money off coupons. I will not buy this product again. I love this type of “liquid” eye shadow, but the packaging is poorly designed. Too bad.
