CoverFX Lunar Glitter Drops Review, Photos, Swatches
Lunar
Cover FX Lunar Glitter Drops ($44.00 for 0.50 oz.) is a multi-colored, glittery highlight that seemed to reflect and sparkle in hues of aqua, mint green, blue, violet, and pink. Predominantly, it looked like a bluish lavender on my skin tone but was rather multi-dimensional. It had a sheer, watery base where the majority of the coverage came in the form of glitter–it was semi-sheer and buildable to semi-opaque. The glitter was fine enough that it sat well on the skin, “pigmented” enough that it didn’t look like random grit or sand when it wasn’t reflecting light. It wore well over bare skin, on top of foundation/blush, or mixed in with moisturizer. It was easiest to check for longevity as a highlighter on bare skin, and it lasted well for eight and a half hours with minimal migration.

Formula Overview
$44.00/0.5 oz. - $88.00 Per Ounce
The Glitter Drops formula is supposed to have buildable coverage that has a "high impact, light-reflective finish" that can be used on its own or layered over or under other products on "face and body." It is, if the name didn't make it obvious, a glittery product and would be most suitable to someone who enjoys noticeable sparkles on the skin. The consistency has a thinner, more watery feel compared to the original Illuminating Drops, but the formula has a quick dry down and leaves behind a sparkling finish that has a noticeable color and reflective quality but did not look gritty or sand-like (which would be my primary concern). It did not feel tacky after it dried down, and it stayed in place well with minimal migration over time left alone. The liquid was easy to spread across the lips using patting and tapping motions with my fingertips, and it worked well on bare skin but also over liquid foundation, as it did not lift my base when I spread and blended out the edges. They wore between eight and nine hours on me.

I wore mine NYE! Love it but wish Cover Fx made it in a smaller size.
How did you like the formula, though?
I agree that, in general, liquid highlighters are usually sold in too-large of sizes! Especially these, I think, as while they can be mixed in, they’re not quite as “everyday” for most that I don’t know if it’s feasible to use it all up!
I found the formula to be buildable or sheerable (is that a word?!) It worked for me but I think it will be impossible to use the full bottle. I prefer the smaller sizes of liquid highlighters offered by companies like Makeup Revolution. I’m also not certain how well the glitter formula would do mixed in with my foundation. I actually gave up using an Illamasqua primer bc it made me look too glittery. i think the all over glitter foundation really only works if you’re attending a music festival.
I found a way to go through them! I started adding drops to my body lotion for all over use after daily showers, and I’ll probably make my way through my first bottle in about a month (after starting the technique about a two months ago). It’s subtle enough that something looks different, but you couldn’t definitively say “highlighter!” I would seriously consider blending a whole bottle of the CoverFX drops into a Costco-sized bottle of lotion if I though I could get it to blend effectively in the bottle, but I’m pretty positive it wouldn’t.
I love your eye makeup here, looks like colors from Chanel spring 2018 palette. I will try to recreate :)))
Thank you, Olga!
This looks both natural and bold at the same time. I can just imagine using it with foundation, then as highlight on the cheeks, eyeshadow topper and inner corner highlight too if I’m feelling extra :))))) can’t wait for the reviews on the other shades. Btw, Happy new year Christine <3
It was surprisingly wearable, in a way – glittery but not to the point where it was chunky/gritty in a bad way!
It looks beautiful on your cheekbones Christine!I can see that iridescent sheen in the full face photo.Im going to order these today.I really love all the other Highlighter Custom Enhancing Drops and I adore the Bronzers both shades.I have been reading the Sephora reviews and I enjoy a glittery highlight if it isn’t chunky so I’m sold on these.
Keep us posted on how you like the Glitter Drops, Dominique!
Why did this have to come out on a low-buy year??? I’m in love with it! I suppose I *could* rationalize that it’s in keeping with Pantone Ultraviolet….it does reflect bluish lavender!?
Ahhhh a good review! I was wondering what you’d think of them! They look so pretty and I can’t get enough glitter but 50$ in Canada. Definitely a want not a need!
I’m hoping they will come out with a mini kit for holiday 2018!
I would never wear this but oh my god it is beautiful. This would look so pretty on very fair people!
Eh, I think I’ll skip it.
Long time no comment!!!
this is my first time seeing this new formula swatched/worn. and I’m actually kinda digging it!! I’m probably the targeted demographic for this product (an early twenties young adult!!) but I’m REALLY liking it :O
Not even remotely into glitter (and really hoping the trend goes away sooner rather than later), but this looks like a decent product for real fans.
