ColourPop Vanilla Bean Highlighter Reviews & Swatches
Vanilla Bean
ColourPop Vanilla Bean Pressed Powder Highlighter ($10.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a slightly warmed over white with subtle, warmer undertones and a smooth, luminous sheen. It looked yellower and like a pale gold in the pan, but it ended up more white-based in practice.
- Semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation
- Smooth, lightly emollient texture; no powderiness
- Applied evenly and blended out easily
- Long-wearing (8 hours before fading visibly)

The powder highlighter is supposed to have a "high-shine" finish with "high colour intensity." In general, ColourPop's pressed highlighter powders have a smooth, moderately dense texture that was soft enough to be picked up easily by a brush but not kick up any powder in the pan. The formula was semi-opaque to opaque but easily sheered out for less shine and coverage if desired. There were a few shades within the range that emphasized my skin's natural texture slightly but most did not. The wear ranged from seven and a half hours to nine hours.

Too pigmented for me to get away with. Not with my medium depth coloring. I’ll just stick with my Ofra Glazed Donut, which is just a glass-like glow when I use a fan brush.
I haven’t has much luck with ColourPop highlighters but I’ve been loving this new powder formula! It has everything I look for in a highlight – glitter/shimmer/sparkle free luminous glow and pale neutral/cool toned shades. Spotlight, a pale cool pink, and Cold One, a neutral white, quickly favorites in my collection.
I’m sure I don’t actually need more highlighters, but I put Spotlight and Cold one on my wish list. The description of your favourite type of highlighter sounds like what I look for as well.
I kind of like this one, Vanilla Bean, I think I could use it for my warmer days, that is when the eyeshadows used are on the warm side. One perk of having neutral undertones, you can use both warm and cold shades. I prefer cooler tones though.
I can’t recommend Spotlight and Cold One enough and I think you’ll like both shades, especially Cold One as it’s more neutral. Spotlight is definitely cool toned on me and reminds me of WnW Blossom Glow, if you’ve tried that, but without the rogue sparkles.
I’m in need of a treat. I’ll check my WL to see if there’s more from CP on it. LOL, who am I kidding? There’s loads of stuff from all brands reviewed here. 🙂
Thanks for the tip, Cara!
Quite pretty for a subtle highlight! I still don’t use highlighters beyond the fun duochrome type (with my pores it tends to look greasy rather than glowy otherwise) but I appreciate them on other people.
It would make more sense if it had cooler undertones because really it suits very fair toned people. Still it’s quite pretty.
