ColourPop Sunnyvale & Sub Zero Creme Gel Liners Reviews & Swatches
Sunnyvale
ColourPop Sunnyvale Crème Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with moderate, warm undertones–not too red, not too golden–paired with a flat, matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly in a fluid stroke and never tugged on my lash line. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and glided on with ease. This shade lasted well for nine hours before fading/thinning noticeably.

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.007 oz. - $1000.00 Per Ounce
The updated formula is supposed to have "18-hour" wear that is waterproof and be "super pigmented" for both the lash line as well as the waterline. The brand stated that the formula will set "after around 10 seconds." Many shades had semi-opaque to opaque, buildable coverage, but some shades had uneven, sheerer coverage that did not layer well, so they were more challenging to apply and to use.
The majority of shades were creamy enough to glide across the lash line without tugging or pulling, though a few shades were stiffer, more prone to breaking or dragging.
The formula seemed water-resistant based on testing with water, but the wear was more like 10 to 13 hours (depending on the shade) rather than 18 hours of solid wear. A lot of the shimmer shades lasted four to six hours on the waterline, while more matte shades tended to last five to seven hours on my waterline. These are long-wearing times for a pencil eyeliner, generally, but they are a fair bit short of the 18-hours claimed so a lot of shades rated lower than they might seem if you aren't a stickler for 18-hour wear!

Sub Zero
ColourPop Sub Zero Crème Gel Liner ($5.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a vivid, medium gold with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had a smooth, glide-on consistency that was comfortable to work with on my lower lash line as it deposited semi-opaque coverage in a single layer and never tugged during application.
I had no trouble getting opaque coverage when I used shorter, slightly overlapping strokes against my lower lash line for testing. It wore well for nine hours before fading/thinning visibly.
FYI, this shade came with a warning that it was not intended for use on the immediate eye area.

These would both work out so perfectly with my UD Naked Honey palette! I can picture it so well! ?
Cracking up at the “Sunnyvale” name- intentional trailer park boys reference or not. Might grab this next time I need a new brown eyeliner, just because of the name.
I was thinking Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it made me laugh too.
So, silly question, but did you wipe off the crystalline-looking bits of Sub Zero before you put it on? Just want to make sure you’re ok because that just looks a little scary.
No, because by the time it all occurs… I’ve already swatched it! Like I take the photos, and then I import to my computer and process them from there – but it’s not something I can see in person!
What’s going on with these shades? Why do the tips look crystallized and moldy?
It’s likely just unmixed wax or it might have been poured when it was too hot/too cool!
I think the names should be switched around, anyway Sub Zero is a beautiful gold shade and I think it would work well with all other colours. Lovely.
I don’t understand how any of the gel liners from ColourPop get As. Based on my experience, they would get Fs. I I think I’ve bought 6 or so (in two orders) and all of them would not give off any color on my lids (and I couldn’t press any harder or it would hurt) and parts of them crumble off EVERY time. Just very weird how people like these but I can’t figure them out.
Definitely didn’t have any issue getting them to deposit color at all – the left swatch is always one stroke (the right one is back-and-forth to show layering ability and whether it’s buildable) – on my end! If I had the experience you did, they certainly wouldn’t rate an A then.
Me too, Cat. I’ve had one good Colourpop liner that glides on, and even two years later, it’s smooth nice and pigmented. The other four (different shades) I’ve tried have either tugged like crazy and been dry and crumbly orrr two were okay for only the first week. They’re so hard and dry that I can’t even draw a short line on my hand with them.
That being said, the gold one is so pretty, and I’ll try it for the price point.
