ColourPop Rumor Has It Palette Review & Swatches

Rumor Has It
ColourPop Rumor Has It 5-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is an aqua and blue-hued color story that included three matte shades and two shimmer shades. It was a poor performing palette from the brand; while one shade was exceptionally nice, the rest were lesser with three being particularly disappointing.

Do Tell
Do Tell is a medium aqua with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, almost velvety texture that was dense and thick without being too thick, which helped the color apply evenly and blend out without sheering out too readily. It wore well for eight hours before fading a bit.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Confession
Confession is a medium, bluish-aqua base with cool undertones and warmer, greenish-gold shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. The texture was more loosely-pressed, which resulted in slightly less-than opaque coverage and a touch of fallout when blended out. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Page Six
Page Six is a light-medium, purplish-blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that did not build up well and had a lot of fallout as I attempted to build it up. The eyeshadow had a moderately powdery, thinner texture that proved difficult to use, even over primer. It lasted well for seven hours before fading a bit.

Got a Text
Got a Text is a medium purple with cooler undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was buildable. The consistency was more firmly-pressed into the pan and thinner, so I had to really jam my brush into the pan to dislodge product from the surface, which resulted in an application that was less-even and harder to blend out. This shade wore decently for eight hours before fading noticeably.

On Paper
On Paper is a medium-dark cobalt blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a moderately powdery, thinner texture that sheered out and had fallout. I found this shade difficult to build up without using a primer, but it was never fully opaque for me. There were signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Well, Page Six is bad, good that it has a dupe On Paper.
Feeling kinda sad over this one’s obvious weaknesses and failings. I’m normally not one who instantaneously gravitates towards blue e/s’s, but I really love the play of colors combining aqua with purple-blues.
It’s a pretty set of blue shades, but alas, the formula for quite a few of these shades lets the mini palette down.
That’s a shame. I was eyeing this palette for its simplicity, yet beautiful blues. I’ll settle on another blue palette. Gah.
I am glad I have BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes as it contains a lot of the shades I gravitate to. In this case the quite lovely Got A Text.
A for the palette itself it has the same problem for me as all the others in this edition, the pastel-y mattes. So far I’ve not seen any that would flatter me one little bit.
It is a pity that this palette has such faults as the colour story is interesting, aqua, blue and purple, for someone who can use blues this could have been a little winner.
There are so many better brands than ColourCrap. They are just noisy with their frequent releases.
It’s kind of ridiculous the traction they get in the blogs and youtube, when there are better things getting ignored in the indie workd.
