Colourpop has very quickly gone from being my favourite brand to one that I’m struggling to take seriously. They addressed why they were lauching new collection after new collection while not restocking their older products on their insta back in december, but at this point I just don’t get it. Unless this was produced during the first lockdown and has just been sitting in their warehouse for like half a year, there’s just no reason that a launch as superfluous as this couldn’t have been cancelled in favour of focusing on restocking things.

“Rich mattes”? Rich for whom, exactly? It’s disappointing to see yet another Colourpop collection that caters to only a few skin tones. It seems like they’re reading the criticism from makeup lovers and doing the exact opposite. Too many neutrals? Check. New collection instead of restocking their permanent line items? Check. Palette and face products only contribute to fair/light skin tones? Check. Pressed glitter and mattes with sparkle? Check. I wish they’d listen.

Another throwaway neutral “collection.” Not surprising.

But WHY are pink and peach/”terracotta” the ONLY blush colors that CP has produced in the last two years?! Launch after launch, CP puts forth these exact same blushes. This is insane and completely inaccessible to darker skin tones. I’m embarrassed for them.

Instead of restocking their best selling shades and beautiful lipsticks, we keep being provided with palette after palette of the same sort of shades. At least this one doesn’t contain pink shades and it might even be lovely, unless it has PET glitter in it. I do like the neutral take and there are some lovely looking shades here. The blushes look good too.

I went into Ulta today and saw this palette. I have to admit, I couldn’t figure out how in the world I had no idea this collection was coming! I’m literally on Colourpops website every day and Ulta at least 4 times a week but there were no announcements and I didn’t see any of the YouTubers I follow even mention it in their Will I Buy Its. So weird!

Buuttttttt…..I did pick it up and I swatched it in the car with my friend. She went back in and bought it because it’s actually really pretty!! There are a few gorgeous topper shades and what I love is that it has so many wearable colors! I don’t regret picking it up at all…..the only bummer is that they didn’t have the blushes in. Both of the blushes or lux lip glosses in, they look really pretty online! I’m new here so I don’t know if I can poat a pic of swatches but I’d love to if I can!

For someone like me who used to work off Melrose, the names of the shadows are extremely accurate and give me nostalgia. I now have a strong craving for the Portobello sandwich at Urth Caffe but can’t travel there, so thanks a lot Colourpop XD! They are just missing a name about the dismal parking/traffic situation. I do love neutrals, but when I think of what people actually might wear “Off Melrose,” it’s more likely a shimmery swipe of something that uses “clean,” earth-friendly and minimal marketing, like Roen, or just skin that has been drenched in various face serums with almost no makeup.
Colourpop’s lip gloss formula isn’t my favorite, but I do like these colors!

I bought this palette today at Ulta and I noticed that 1 shade, Angeleno, is missing from your list of shades. It is the color in the top left corner. I love your website, by the way!
