Hi, Society

ColourPop Hi, Society 5-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new, green-themed palette that included three matte shades and two shimmery shades. It was just so-so in quality–it had medium to opaque coverage with moderate powderiness, which resulted in sheerer coverage and fallout.

Promise

Promise is a pale green with moderate, warm undertones and a frosted, metallic finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a touch more or if applied with a fingertip/dampened brush. The texture was more loosely-pressed and a touch dry, which resulted in slight fallout during blending. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Fan Fave

Fan Fave is a very light, bright lemony chartreuse with warm undertones and barely-there teal micro-sparkle over a matte finish. The sparkles seemed to disappear into my brush or the air rather than result in fallout, but they didn’t have any visual impact on the lid either. It had opaque pigmentation otherwise, which was paired with a smooth, lightly powdery consistency that was blendable on bare skin. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Buggin'

Buggin’ is a vivid, very light and bright chartreuse with strong, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was slightly thinner and more emollient, so it adhered well to bare skin but was better applied with a fingertip or a dampened brush. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which stayed on nicely for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Don't Care

Don’t Care is a brighter, very light lime green with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation, but it was moderately powdery and more prone to sheering out. I’d recommend using this with an eyeshadow primer underneath, which helped it grip better. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing." The way the Pressed Pigments differ is that they're not intended for usage on the immediate eye area.

The majority of the shades are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blend out fairly well, and can sometimes be a bit drier/more powdery compared to typical matte shades. They often wear eight to nine hours on me before fading, but many shades in the Pressed Pigment family leave some staining behind.

NOTICE: All products categorized under "Pigment" carry a warning in the US that the product is "not intended for use in the immediate eye area." Brands in the US typically market these products as "Pigments" (instead of "Eyeshadow"), and there is often a warning on the back of packaging or the label. The product includes color additives that are not approved for usage on the eyes per the FDA. Some color additives in "Pigments" have no usage restrictions in the EU, per CosIng, and can be used on the eyes. We recommend checking ingredients to confirm current safety assessment/restrictions: FDA/CosIng.

Scene

Scene is a medium-dark teal with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had medium color payoff in a single layer, which was somewhat buildable on bare skin but benefitted greatly from a primer underneath it. The texture was moderately powdery, slightly thin and a smidgen dry, though it was blendable. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

I really dislike loosely pressed shimmers (looking at you Lorac!) and apart from being very annoying, it is wasteful of the product. So I would find these shimmers to be irritating as well. It is a vivid colour story here – no subtleties – and the mattes are so-so too. CP is starting to look and feel like an eyeshadow DS brand to me.
