I find this amusing…

I had freckles when I was quite young but they faded by the time I graduated high school. I don’t think I’d want them back, especially at my age. Even the few beauty marks I’ve got (which I actually refer to as moles), I don’t like.

Freckles are a huge trend… a handful of brands have started coming out with freckle specific products like this. I don’t get the trend (I have freckles of my own and never find faux freckles to look real), but it has become popular over the last few months if not longer.

I remember when I was a teen and it was briefly fashionable to dot on some freckles but I just used a cheap light brown Maybelline pencil. Y’know that old saying about how if you’re old enough to have done it the first time ’round, don’t do it the 2nd time around? Well, that’s me with regard to this!

This is going to sound strange, but I’ve always been uncomfortable with the faux freckle trend. There are too many folks who were bullied as children for having adorable freckles and that alone makes me wish the beauty industry wouldn’t capitalize on it. Ah well, I know I won’t be buying this.

While I understand what you’re saying, this seems like a rare characteristic the industry is capitalizing on that’s most often associated with fair-skinned people. More “ethnic” features like plump lips, bushy brows, and fox eyes have been a reason to bully and harass black and brown women for decades. But those features are trendy now, so everyone’s trying to emulate them.

To me, faux freckles seem to have risen in popularity due to the natural look that’s trending. Having visible freckles is akin to “proof” that a person isn’t wearing full coverage foundation and has perfect skin naturally. Effortless(-looking) beauty is always en vogue.

I find the faux-freckle trend very strange myself. While I think freckles are adorable (and not just bc I, along with my kids, have them), I never find faux freckles to look very real, especially when someone is putting them over foundation applied so heavily it would surely cover up any real freckles they may have.

Wow, I can share mine! As soon as summer rolls around even with sunscreen they pop out all over my face. I hated them as a kid, now not so much, they are more concentrated on the top of my cheek bones and across the bridge of my nose, so they look quite nice. I can’t imagine applying freckles to your face lol!
