ColourPop Coast is Clear 9-Pan Palette Review & Swatches
Coast is Clear
ColourPop Coast is Clear 9-Pan Shadow Palette (Plastic) ($12.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a mix of finishes and some difference in depth. There are two new finishes–Satin Pearl and Sheer Sparkle–along with a Super Shock Shadow (the tie-dye effect shade in the middle) along with shimmers and mattes. The quality was less consistent than I’ve come to expect from the brand, though by no means a dud.

Ahoy
Ahoy is a light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had a thinner, firmer texture that resulted in sheerer, uneven coverage, so it was best applied with a fingertip and really pressed into place. This is listed as a “satin pearl,” so it has a new finish, which I’d describe as being firmer, thinner, and a little more emollient, almost like a harder Super Shock Shadow in a way. It lasted for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce
The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

LELimited Edition. $4.50.
Set on You
Set on You is a light mauve with warmer undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, blendable, and lightly powdery in the pan, but it yielded full color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin. This shade showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear.

Good to Go
Good to Go is a light, peachy copper with a sparkling, high-shine finish. It says it has “sparkle,” so it may be the new Sheer Sparkle finish (but it wasn’t perfectly clear, though given the way it felt different, I would guess it was by logical deduction). The texture was more emollient and cream-like, almost like a stiffer and more powdered take on a Super Shock Shadow (not as squishy). It had mostly opaque coverage, rather than “sheer” though. It lasted for eight hours before having light fallout.

Fine Day
Fine Day is a light-medium, rosy copper with moderate, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had opaque color coverage with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that wasn’t too dense nor too softly-pressed into the pan. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

In Focus
In Focus is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and pink and gold micro-sparkle throughout a more metallic finish. It had a Super Shock Shadow finish, so it had a more emollient, cream-like feel to the touch but turned to a more powder-like finish once it came into contact with my skin. It had mostly opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and wore well for 10 hours without fading.

Vibe Check
Vibe Check is a bright pewter with subtle, warm undertones and an intense, metallic finish. The consistency was more loosely-pressed, which made it easy to pick up more product than necessary and that led to fallout. Using less (or using a fingertip/dampened brush!) mitigated the fallout and still yielded full coverage. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.

Derivative. Even for CP.
It’s a “maybe”. I mean, Vibe Check: can we just have a serving of this electrom loveliness, please? Then again, SG does have something similar, I keep thinking.
I guess Satin Pearl and Sheet Sparkle were more marketing gimmicky than anything? Honestly, I was fine with their current selection of textures. I don’t know that these two new ones were all that additive.
It is generally a well made palette and it’s good to see CP experiment with new formulas. But I so just wish it wasn’t pinks all the time. Fine Day was lovely and so too was Vibe Check.
So this is one of the two palettes I picked up from this release and without waiting for reviews. I am not unhappy with how it has rated and I will be able to use most of the shades. For $12 you can’t really go wrong. Vibe Check alone is probably worth it! I am hoping they will actually ship it sometime in my lifetime. Maybe they are making to order these days, LOL!!
The colours in this remind me of Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks or a similar product from Physician’s Formula…but those were face products! Once again, too much pink and orange to be of any use for me. But it looks pretty!
I’ve been really drawn to the pinky/plummy/mauvey combos lately so I like the color story on this one, but I don’t know still feeling a little ‘meh’ over it. The satin pearl finish was what I was most interested to see, but since it rated the worst, might be a pass for me.
