Boy

ColourPop Boy Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium peach with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had good color coverage in one pass, and despite being one of the lighter shades in the range, applied rather evenly. This shade settled more obviously into my lip lines, though. For this type of color and finish, it was impressive, but there is still room for improvement. It had a lightweight, lightly creamy consistency that glided across the lips without tugging and felt comfortable over time. It stayed on well for four hours and was non-drying.

Formula Overview

$10.00/0.12 oz. - $83.33 Per Ounce

The formula that is supposed to be a "creamy-matte" that "glides on like butter, doesn't feather or bleed, and lasts so long you'll forget you're even wearing it." The majority of the shades were quite pigmented with full color payoff in a single stroke with a few in the more semi-opaque coverage range.

The texture was, on average, smooth, lightly creamy, and not too thick or too thin, so there was no tugging during application but the color didn't feel slippery while worn, which made them easier to apply straight from the tube and low-maintenance on the lips.

They tend to dry and wear down to a soft matte finish within one to three hours of wear, and while they are very lightweight on, they hug the lips more as they become more matte (compared to initial feel). The wear time has been between four and six hours for most shades, and most shades were non-drying to lightly hydrating. They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

Stone Fox

ColourPop Stone Fox Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, pop of medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly on the lips and had the most minimal settling, which was surprising as the texture was wetter and more slippery compared to most shades in the range. I felt like it “set” a bit after a few minutes, so the texture felt less slippery on my lips and did not slide around while I wore it. The color lasted for four and a half hours and was slightly hydrating while worn.

Uno Mas

ColourPop Uno Mas Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, muted coral with warm undertones and a satin finish. The lipstick glided across my lips without tugging or pulling as the consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and easy to work with along the edges of the lips for a clean application. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which went on evenly and stayed in place well over time. There was a bit of product that pulled into my deeper lip lines that wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. It wore well for four and a half hours and was lightly moisturizing while worn.

Even though I’d never buy either one, I have got to say how impressed I am with how richly pigmented and non-patchy Boy and Stone Fox are! Just wow!

The one I will be getting is Uno Mas. I was so afraid it would turn out to be duped in my stash by ABH Kiss or MAC Nicki’s Nude, but thankfully, neither of those are on the “dupe list”! I really seem to have a thing for coral nudes, though.

These (the packaging) are really nice for those who really prefer the traditional lipstick bullet. I don’t have a preference one way or another, and I’m being picky about lipstick at the moment, so I’ll pass.

How do these compare to Tarte Color Splash And Pat McGrath luxetrance/mattetrance lipsticks? Are we hey even in the same leaugue formula-wise?

(I love your earrings too!)

I actually wore Cheetah (ColourPop) and Faux Pas (Pat McGrath) together (one shade on half of my lips), because the ColourPop ones mattify a bit more than I feel like most lipsticks do and I happened to have the MatteTrance to test, too… they actually have a very similar wear down/mattifying process and time but the PMG definitely has a more comfortable, slightly plusher feel at all times. There’s just a little more to the PMG texture, I guess.

Initially, I felt like there was a wider different in texture between the two – PMG has more of a velvety, almost powder-cream like feel going on whereas ColourPop feels more like a traditional lipstick that’s creamy but not super slippery. I’d say Tarte ColorSplash are a bit thicker, creamier, and stay creamier for a lot longer. I find Tarte’s formula more hydrating than either ColourPop or PMG MatteTrance (I don’t find that formula to be particularly hydrating – more like “non-drying,” which is decent since some of them last 6+ hours). LuxeTrance is pretty different – creamier, more emollient, a little thicker, and more hydrating for me.
