Coloured Raine Spring 2017 Shimmer Eyeshadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Birthday Suit
Coloured Raine Birthday Suit Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a soft, light-medium peach with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. The consistency was soft, blendable, and smooth without being too powdery or too firm in the pan. It had great color payoff that applied evenly to the skin and lasted for eight hours on me.

Formula Overview

2022 Formula: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" and "blendable" with a "butterly smooth" feel. The majority of the matte eyeshadows were quite pigmented, while some of the shimmers were overly emollient, which resulted in sheerer and/or uneven coverage.
The matte eyeshadows have a bit of dryness to them, though they were pigmented and fairly blendable, but they tended to apply best over an eyeshadow primer, which ensured a better base for them to adhere to. The shimmer eyeshadows were best applied with fingertips or a flat, firm (and sometimes dampened) brush and pressed/patted into place, then lightly blended.
I did not love the two finishes paired together as the matte finish was thinner and more powdery compared to the thicker, denser shimmers, so the shimmers often "erased" the matte eyeshadows when blended out.
The formula was different than the brand's original single pan formula that they originally debuted with, and I preferred their original formula overall, though the new one is decent, just not as foolproof to work with.
Original formula review: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented, long-lasting, and blendable" and come in a variety of finishes. Most their eyeshadows are semi-opaque to opaque with a smooth, blendable textures that are easy to use and apply well to bare skin. The shimmers are slightly dense and creamier to the touch compared to the mattes, which aren't thin but don't have the same amount of slip. They tend to wear between eight and nine hours on me.

Cinnamon Lust
Coloured Raine Cinnamon Lust Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a medium brown with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had good color coverage, though it took a little extra layering to get it to be fully opaque as the texture was looser and prone to sheering out on the lid. It was very blendable, so it was easy to work with in practice. On me, this shade started to fade noticeably after seven and a half hours of wear.

S'mores
Coloured Raine S’mores Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a medium-dark bronzy brown with warm, reddish undertones and a fine, golden sheen. It had good pigmentation, though the texture was a little drier than most shades have been in the range (especially for a more shimmery shade). The color applied well to bare skin but had a tendency to sheer out a bit on the skin. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading.

Love ’em all!
Yay!
Vintage is gorgeous!!
Agreed!
All great colors, but I don’t think I need any of them. Too bad — I really like the Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts palette I got.
The Queen of Hearts palette is sooo good!
Oh vintage is lovely! Might be too orangey for me but so nice in the swatch!
It is pretty!
Coloured Raine did it again! I think I’ve just found a new favorite brand to do a haul with. At least once I use up some of my dupes and near dupes, this will be the one! Glad to see an accessible dupe of ABH Hot & Cold, and also for Nyx Fireball.
Can’t wait for you to try them, Nancy! 🙂
Vintage! <3<3<3
🙂
Really gorgeous autumnal shades, but oh so dupable.
True!
