Bay Breeze

Coloured Raine Bay Breeze Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a bright, light-medium lime green with warm, golden sparkle over a metallic finish. The color payoff was fantastic, while the texture was dense, cream-like, and smooth. It applied evenly to the lid, and it remained blendable around the edges while still maintaining opaque, bright coverage. The color started to crease after eight and a half hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$6.99/0.064 oz. - $109.22 Per Ounce

2022 Formula: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented" and "blendable" with a "butterly smooth" feel. The majority of the matte eyeshadows were quite pigmented, while some of the shimmers were overly emollient, which resulted in sheerer and/or uneven coverage.

The matte eyeshadows have a bit of dryness to them, though they were pigmented and fairly blendable, but they tended to apply best over an eyeshadow primer, which ensured a better base for them to adhere to. The shimmer eyeshadows were best applied with fingertips or a flat, firm (and sometimes dampened) brush and pressed/patted into place, then lightly blended.

I did not love the two finishes paired together as the matte finish was thinner and more powdery compared to the thicker, denser shimmers, so the shimmers often "erased" the matte eyeshadows when blended out.

The formula was different than the brand's original single pan formula that they originally debuted with, and I preferred their original formula overall, though the new one is decent, just not as foolproof to work with.

Original formula review: The formula is supposed to be "highly pigmented, long-lasting, and blendable" and come in a variety of finishes. Most their eyeshadows are semi-opaque to opaque with a smooth, blendable textures that are easy to use and apply well to bare skin. The shimmers are slightly dense and creamier to the touch compared to the mattes, which aren't thin but don't have the same amount of slip. They tend to wear between eight and nine hours on me.

Blue Magic

Coloured Raine Blue Magic Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark blue with strong, cool undertones and a frosted sheen. It had rich, opaque color coverage that adhered beautifully to bare skin and blended out nicely without much effort, despite its creamier, denser texture. I noticed a little bit of creasing after eight and a half hours of wear.

Fetish

Coloured Raine Fetish Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with warm, plummier undertones and a pearly sheen. The consistency was denser and stiffer to work with–the edges looked drier and uneven as I blended out the eyeshadow. It had good pigmentation, which was more buildable than it was intense right out of the gate. It wore well for eight hours on me before creasing.

Forbidden

Coloured Raine Forbidden Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a deep green-teal with cooler shimmer and subtle, warm brown undertones. The color payoff was opaque, while the consistency was denser and cream-like but a little stiffer to work with. I used a flat, synthetic brush and had better luck applying and blending out the edges than I did with a regular, dome-shaped eyeshadow brush. It wore well for nine hours before creasing on me.

Malibu

Coloured Raine Malibu Eyeshadow ($6.99 for 0.064 oz.) is a bright, medium bluish teal with cool undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The eyeshadow had good pigmentation with a cream-like, dense consistency that worked best with a flat, synthetic brush as it was much denser and thicker compared to the average powder eyeshadow. I found it fairly blendable on the lid, and if you’re used to working with this type of texture, it wasn’t any more work than the average, good eyeshadow, but it may take a couple of uses to figure out if you aren’t used to it. The color started to crease after eight and a half hours on me.

Bay Breeze is slaying my life so hard. It’s like Sugarpill Acidberry with a beautiful shine. I saw the swatches of the collection and thought “Oh, that Green one is cute!” but now I’m reading the review and the performance is really selling me! I may have to give their shadows a try!

Color. Bring it on. Nice looks. Think I’m duped, buy yay for these. Suspect I’ve found my new MUG. Better look up what you said the pan size was, and plan out a z-ful. Marlena has some stiff competition from coloured raine.

I love that in the wake of so many lackluster products from the big brands really good indies and smaller brands are finally starting to get the attention they deserve! I know you’ve been championing them all along as have the other couple reviewers/bloggers I trust and it’s fantastic to see the spark catch fire. I think Coloured Raine has a big future!

Woah Blue Magic, Forbidden, and Malibu are my favorites of this bunch. And they rated well plus I only have a dupe for Blue Magic. Since they’re permanent I’ll pick up the other 2 next year.
