Color Club Editorial Nail Lacquer
The Beauty of Duochromes
Color Club Editorial Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “peridot duochrome.” It’s a yellowy, dirty gold with brown and green in it that flashes from gold to grass green. It is, not surprisingly, a dupe for Chanel Peridot. The also recently-released China Glaze Rare & Radiant is rather similar as well (to be reviewed). Ozotic #507 is a bit darker, more green to blue than gold to green.
The formula on this was just right–not too thick or too thin–and it waso paque after two coats. Â It has a frosted, metallic finish, so there are some minor brush strokes visible under brighter light. Â They are the type that tends to add to the finish, rather than take away. Â They apply straight and don’t go all wonky. Â This was actually one of the shades from the fall launch that I test-drove for wear, and it lasted a full seven days without chipping and only had minor tip wear. Â This was true whether I used a base/top coat or just applied to bare nails. Â I will warn you that next to nothing chips on me, though.

Yay for a cruelty-free (and cheap) dupe!
Thanks for the amazing job Christine, as always! 🙂
Love it…Maybelline has a similar limited-edition polish out right now called Boho Gold. Colors like this look *amazing* over one coat of black!
Err try that again!
The blue/green is not that prominent in the Boho Gold however. I’m posting swatches tomorrow comparing that one and O.P.I Just Spotted The Lizzard.
O.P.I Just Spotted The Lizzard is a dupe aswell.
I own Just Spotted The Lizzard as well and it’s a proper due as the blue/green is visible on the nail as well. ^_^
I believe there’s a Nicole by OPI dupe out this fall as well. This is not a hard color to find these days. I have the China Glaze version. I love the color but was a bit disappointed with the wear. I find that holos and duochromes are especially prone to tip wear on me for some reason. Doesn’t stop me from wearing them, though!
I have the Nicole by OPI one, it’s called Mer-maid For Each Other.
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!
Whether it’s a dupe for Peridot or not, it’s still a pretty shade!
While not a dupe for Chanel, this looks exactly like Sephora for OPI’s Sage Is Just A Number.
Peridot is more shimmery
What a pretty shade! Sadly my first experience with Color Club was a bad one – the polish stained my nails a horrible yellow AND left them peeling lengthwise like crazy. And with so many brands out there that I’ve never had any trouble with, I’ve yet to give it another chance.
Oh no! What shade? Do you remember?
Age of Aquarius from their neon collection.
Woohoo, that looks great! I love the effect 🙂
This shade is very pretty but Revlon launched similar polishes years ago, so neither this nor Peridot are that exciting to me
Looks pretty but there in The Netherlands we have an even cheaper alternative for the Chanel Peridot: Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 840 Genius In A Bottle, available in Dutch drugstores for just €2,49. I have a swatch on my blog.
I have seen SO MANY dupes of this color, the color itself, and not once have I ever had any desire to own it. But, now? I need to own this specific one. I’m sure there’s some subtle difference between this and the rest. My brain is weird; what can I say? 🙂
Wow, that looks beautiful. i love the shine. Def need to pick this up.
How close is it to OPI’s ‘Just Spotted the Lizard’? It looks like it would be a dupe for that too!
That one’s also basically a dupe for Peridot, so it would be for this one too!
Yawn.
Thanks for this post, Christine! I’ve always been intrigued by Chanel’s Peridot, but there’s no way I would pay so much for nail polish (especially when my favorite ones are just $1.99 lol). So I got one of these on eBay this morning for $5.99 :).
