Clinique Delicate, Enamored, Closer Even Better Lip Colour Foundation Reviews & Swatches

Delicate (10)
Clinique Delicate (10) Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a dusty, medium pink-coral with moderate, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had excellent color payoff in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging.
The texture was lightweight, creamy without being too emollient or too slippery, and wasn’t prone to emphasizing my lip lines. It stayed on nicely for four and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$19.50/0.13 oz. - $150.00 Per Ounce
The formula features three finishes: "Naked," "Casual," and "Glam." Where these finishes get confusing is that the classification moves as skin tone changes, despite the brand describing "Naked" shades as "softest neutral for a barely-there look" and "Casual" as "a wash of neutral color," which kind of sound more or less the same-- wash, barely-there, etc. "Glam" is described as a "bold pop of color," yet there are shades classified as "Glam" for lighter skin tones that are "Casual" for deeper skin tones.
The formula is supposed to be hydrating with color that lasts up to "eight hours," which are the most concrete claims about the product! The original Pop lipstick formula is described as "rich color plus a smoothing primer." Since the Even Better range is all about matching to one's skin tone--which is why one shade is closer to "Naked" for one skin tone and closer to "Glam" for another--I'm using the original Pop formula as the baseline for the claims here. This means I'm looking for "rich color" along with a hydrating formula that lasts "up to eight hours."
The majority of the range had semi-opaque to opaque coverage with a few shades having more medium, buildable coverage. I noticed that there were some shades that were more of a velvety-matte--felt more primer-like, more silicone-heavy--with good glide but less sheen (more in line with the Pop Matte formula), and others were more true to the original Pop formula with a creamier consistency that had some shine.
As you might have already guessed, the formula does not last eight hours and lasted between four and five hours for most shades with a few deviating from that range. There's nothing in the formula that suggests it would be particularly long-wearing, so they were quite comfortable to apply and to wear, wore down evenly, and were hydrating to wear.
They had no discernible scent or taste.

Enamored (12)
Clinique Enamored (12) Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink-coral with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly across my lips and delivered even coverage that went on evenly and didn’t gather noticeably into my lip lines. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy without being too slippery, and was comfortable to wear. This shade lasted well for four and a half hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

Closer (13)
Clinique Closer (13) Even Better Pop Lip Colour Foundation ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, light-medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, which adhered evenly and smoothly across my lips.
The texture was lightweight, creamy enough to glide on but not enough to be slippery while worn. The formula smoothed out some of my lip lines, but there was a smidgen of product that settled into my deeper lip lines in the close-up photo (but not noticeable in person). It wore well for four and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

I don’t understand why companies claim such long wear times. It is unrealistic and sets their customers up for disappointment. It seems to me that these would have scored much higher (and customers would know what to actually expect) if Clinique was honest with wear time. At any rate, they look pretty, but I have dupes for all three so this is an easy pass for me. Love the eye look, btw!!
Eight hours is a really long time! That level of wear is usually only seen with more matte formulations (like liquid lipsticks) and then with some deeper hues (like a red satin or something!).
Oh man, I really love Closer! That one is a winner in my book, and I prefer it over my MAC Apricot Gold in tone.
Wow! A MLBB line-up! I wish I knew about these during that recent Clinique sale! My lips are developing an irritation to NARS tolede so I might switch over to Enamored or even Mocha Pop! Thank goodness for Temptalia’s dupe lists!
Enamoured is a beautiful, every day kind of shade. Very pretty.
I have to say I love that in the naming it says “foundation”. I had a very lively makeup discussion in the Keys with my Caribbean friends on stuff you wrote and the word nude. They were unaware that some lines are becoming quite diverse with their “nudes”. They reminded me that we dressed up as mimes and put whiteout on our lips for Halloween one year when comparing what nudes looked like on their lips. Total disaster. Haha.
These are very pretty but I am in love with the Revlon Glass Shine from your reviews for the summer. I had to reorder Rum Raisin as I gave them to my friends. I’m too dark with a tan right now but I may get Enamored for early fall or spring. Very pretty.
