Cle de Peau Marmalade Sky (301) Eyeshadow Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
Cle de Peau Marmalade Sky (301) Eye Color Quad
Cle de Peau Marmalade Sky (301) Eye Color Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a set of lighter, warm-toned neutrals. It’s just a so-so palette, and the colors are fairly dupable that it’s not one I’d splurge on, as I think there are better options for warm-toned neutral palettes (or quads) out there these days.
Also, keep in mind that the price is for the refill only; the case is sold separately ($25). I keep mine in Z-Palettes with a magnetic strip on the back, which has worked just fine for me! Another way to do it is to purchase one case for traveling with a particular quad but not a case for each and every one you may have.
Marmalade Sky #1 is a light pink with warm undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage with a soft, silky-smooth texture that was easy to work with and lasted for eight hours. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Marmalade Sky #2 is a sparkling, warm beige with a hint of peach and gold micro-sparkle over a more metallic finish. It had good pigmentation with a silky, blendable consistency that wore well for eight hours, but there was a little fall out over time. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Marmalade Sky #3 is a bright, neutral white with a frosted finish. It had good color payoff with a finely-milled, silky texture that applied well. The color wore for eight hours before fading. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Marmalade Sky #4 is a softened, medium copper brown with copper sparkle and a gold frosted sheen. It had decent pigmentation, but the texture was drier and a little powdery. The sparkle felt disconnected to the base color, so there was fall out during application as well as during wear. There are too many shades in the industry just like this to have this be anything less than excellent. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Passing..this is pretty boring.
I totally understand!
Agree.
My thought exactly.
That fourth shade, my oh my <3 Such a beautiful warm gold.
If only it had a better texture!
I could get 11 colourpop eyeshadows for 55 dollars so no go.
You sure could! 🙂
It looks so pretty, from the packaging to the colours in the pan.
It looks pretty in the pan at least!
I never seem to get that excited about the CdP palettes. The shade choices: I’m not sure what it is. I think the quads tend to have rather heavy emphasis on paler colours. Not my strong suit.
They have several that lean light to mid-tone, though a couple are a bit richer!
So.. I need this because of the Beatles? 😛 Well, if that’s the case, there are many more things to add to that! I truly must find the palette from theBalm that is music related.. At least. 😀 <3
lol! 😉
So sad the review of it is so bad. These colors look like colors of chalk. Once you try pigmented eyeshadows, you just don’t go back. The old old old ones were so good.
Sometimes they can feel so nice, but then they just don’t always perform as well as they need to at this price.
I’m really pleased you reviewed this Christine- Many Thanks! I looked at it because I do really like some of CdP products and I love these colors. But the price is WOW as usual for that brand. Not sure if I’ll take the plunge or not- but great, honest review- which is what we all Love LOVE LOVE about you!
No problem, Trish! 🙂
Thank you!
Forty bucks for six of those new Buxom shadows in those luscious colours or $55 for this….to me, it is a no-brainer!
Ha!
You weren’t kidding when you said this was highly dupable, it’s painfully dupable. I realized just how much so when I went on the extended dupe site and saw that already owned plenty of dupes, 4 for the last shade alone! Not only that, but it looks uninspired and too pale for me anyway.
Glad you have some dupes 🙂
Most of these colours are almost identical and the inclusion of the gold is a bit strange. Why not have a mint, pale grey, or arctic blue to provide a little contrast. This only suits some complexions….. very average I think.
It’s not the best for sure!
Not feeling the color combo here- 3 of the frosty shades I can use only use on the inner corner of the eyes and 4th shade is too warm. If they had added a brown, it would’ve been better
Some of the “quads” feel incomplete!
While the quad looks pretty I think I have dupes for all of the shades in it.
Yay for dupes 🙂 Money saved!
