Benefit Boxed Blushes Photos & Swatches

Benefit Box o' Powder

Forever ago (no, seriously, sometime in 2014), I went through and re-photographed and swatched all of the Benefit Box o’ Powders I had in my stash (including a few that are discontinued, still useful for finding a dupe if it was a favorite!) since several are cult favorites so I wanted updated images for use in the gallery. You’ll now find these included in the gallery, and if you’ve tried one of Benefit’s powder blushes, consider writing a review 🙂

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! i loved Georgia so much! It was my all time favourite blush, I was so sad when they discontinued it. Dandelion and Dallas are amazing as well.

Hi Melinda,

I already swatched that recently, so it wasn’t in the redo, as it came out in 2013. If you click the link, you’ll find swatches of all of the Benefit Box o’ Powders, including ones that were done recently enough that didn’t merit a redo.

I guess it’s a no-brainer that I would fall hard for Rockateur, Dallas and Coralista, as those are the types of shades that scream out to me, LoL! Also a pull towards Sugar Bomb, too! Wondering whether I could dupe Rockateur using ColourPop Quarters with Highly Waisted?

I only have Dallas, but would love to add Dandelion and Bella Bamba to my collection! Georgia is so pretty! I completely missed that one. Is there currently a dupe? Thanks for this!

Nicole Avatar

Bella Bamba was my fave some years ago! It is one of the few things I have ever hit pan on! I don’t wear it much now. Maybe I will have to try to show it some love even though it is quite beaten up and almost actually gone! 🙂

Christine you do such GREAT reviews/swatches!!!! Thank you for all your hard work and effort!
I don’t own any Benefit blushes but have pondered them. Do they all have glitter/sheen to them? It appears so in the pics. TY!

Thanks for the flashback. These have always been a sentimental favorite of mine, maybe because Jane did me up, @ Bendel’s in Chestnut Hill. 900 years ago, seriously. She did not read me right AT ALL + did a conventionally pretty look with light brown shadow + midrange l/s. (Hello, Heat Wave, Marlene, Times Square,Train Bleue!) I’m not sure it was then, but i got a cranberry/bronzy blush that PREDATED the boxes of powders, called ‘you can if you want.’ Eventually i got a back-up. Now the daughters run Benefit, having taken over from the twins. In the beginning, Benefit had a lipstick promo with stickers for purchase; that’s how i got one of my all time favorite rusts, Deja Vu, i think. Now, I tend to disregard most Benefit, though usually pick up blush offerings late in the game. 10 was broken by my landlord, when he took out the toilet without vaccuming out the water…+ i replaced it…but he wrecked my TV, cable box, + VCR, too! Blended, it was quite nice. Georgia, which I never thought I’d like is a total favorite summer blush, unless a tan overpowers it. It’s beyond hit pan + sadly, gone. Dandelion + Georgia were quite subtle; the former only showed up in dead of winter. The newer shades are far more intense. Coralista is one of the only corals that is wearable for me, with similarities to (do i actually have 5?) Orgasm; i feel it’s Benefit’s iteration. Bella Bamba is surprisingly natural, though, ironically, can be very FEVERISH. Dallas runs quite puce for me, and is so pigmented, that it requires a fan brush. (Whereas Dandelion + Georgia need extra apps…) Dallas looks great with any browny/purply l/s, especially those fab old ones from Fresh. Hervana is almost chameleonic, if that’s a word. It changes, depending what eyes/lips you are wearing. Held out on that + Rockateur for years. I find the name of the latter somewhat of a misnomer. UD early 80s was rock and roll. Manic Panic is rock + roll. Rockateur is positively demure and Victorian. Lovely, even on us old ladies. Thrrrob wasn’t around long. Didn’t actually look too great in the pan. + the box design (laced corset) + name struck me as ‘trying too hard’ for hip, sexy, young…all of which I’m not. Bought it when i tried it, but seldom use it. Sugar Bomb is acceptable, but no great wow, not big in the rotation. Hoola sallows me out + i deselect anything that has it in it. I need a red based bronzer, not yellow ochre. Benefit seems to be target marketing ever younger, with their original concept (fake-its) of corrective cosmetics being quite downplayed. What 20 y.o. needs corrective makeup, anyway? And now, if I get any SA assistance, I’m afraid I would be asked about my granddaughter’s coloration! Well, Jussi is black + tan, (dachshund) + you can see his pic on my pocketbook… He (Jussi) walked on a shingle beach today with the dachsie i’m babysitting due to his family’s hospitalization, a small mini poodle, and a tiny shih tzu. He was a lot better behaved than the girl dachsie, towards the other dogs. Regards to Mellan from Nantasket dog troop L-Pack.

You are just a fountain of cosmetic knowledge, KJH! 🙂 I always love hearing your stories. I’ve been surprised that Benefit has never really tried to go further with Hoola by expanding their bronzer range.

I’m sure Jussi could use a new blush, eh? 😉

I really liked reading your short story. Well. it was like a short story, exciting for a nerdy makeup-geek like me, who also isn’t in the 20’s anylonger.
I don’t have any of the Benefit blushes, I do have Hoola, and it doesn’t look good on my skin. Pity.
I do want Coralista, Bella Bamba and Hervana.
Also thanks to Christine for visiting oldies like this. Sometimes a remainder of what is already available, and has been for a long time, is very good. We, or rather I chase the new, so it’s good that we can just go out and get, or even shop our stash.

Dallas always seems cooler/more plum-ish in real life and on me. As a cool toned person, it’s one of the few bronzers I can wear. Max Factor blush in Mulberry is a good dupe – although I think Max Factor isn’t available in the US anymore? Craziness!

Helena Avatar

I have a decent BoP collection and I’m still sad I never really experienced Thrrrob before it was discontinued. Maybe i swatched it in store once? I know it was pink, but don’t really remember much else, like the finish or undertones… Although I will admit that its draw from the very beginning was its packaging. 😉
Another Benefit product I wish wasn’t discontinued: One Hot Minute. It looks so beautiful on Viola of Killer Colours but I never got around to trying it for myself! Oh well, I still have my beloved, holographic Bella Bamba! Why do they always get rid of the prettiest things…

For ages I used no other blush than the BeneFit Boxed Blushes. While that’s not true anymore, Dandelion is still one of my go-to blushes in the winter, because I can apply it without a mirror onto the apples of my cheeks and gives me a very fresh, doll-like, cute look. That said, I have very fair skin, so on darker skin tones that might not work. I’ve hit pan on that twice and repurchased and will probably continue to do so.
In the summer, my go-to blush is usually Dallas because it works as something between blush and bronzer without ever looking unnatural on my, again, very fair skin. I just apply it onto my cheek bones, forehead and tip of my nose and it makes me look summery and sunkissed.
I also have Coralista, but that one broke and the powder is now all crumbly. 🙁

late to the game – just recently picked up Dallas. I love it. It’s brownish on me and lasts a pretty long time. I’m actually surprised at how much I like it, may try other colors. Dandelion seems interesting to me,
