Christian Louboutin Hawaii Kawai II Nail Coffret Review, Photos, Swatches
Christian Louboutin Beaute Hawaii Kawai II Nail Coffret
Christian Louboutin Beaute Hawaii Kawai II Nail Coffret ($90.00 for 3 x 0.20 fl. oz.) is a limited edition set of miniature-sized versions of the brand’s polish. For spring, the polishes are all shades that are also available in full-size in the permanent range.
Last spring, I reviewed the nail coffret and mentioned that the brand needed to include a styrofoam piece that fit over the bottles to help ensure they didn’t loosen during shipping (I had a bottle break). I was happy to see that the brand included a foam panel inside the box (and no broken bottles this year!).
Bengali is described as a “high-impact hot pink.” It’s a bright, medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a cream finish. It was richly pigmented and yielded full coverage with two coats. The polish applied well without pooling along the edges, bubbling, or drying too quickly (but it didn’t take an extraordinary time to dry).
Popi is described as a “sophisticated orange-red.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It was opaque after one coat, though photos show it with two. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin and applied easily without pooling along the edges and self-leveled as it dried down. This shade lasted for seven days with minor tip wear on me.
Khol is described as an “intense, almost black hue.” It’s a rich, inky black with a cream finish and light shine. It was the least glossy of the polishes in the trio (as well as compared to the shades in the other spring trio), so I think this one absolutely needs a top coat if you want the plusher, glossier finish. I almost had full coverage with one coat, though I did two for good measure. It lasted for seven with days with minor tip wear.

The colors are pretty, but I think the packaging (bottles, floral theme box) is stunning
It does seem well-done! I’m so glad they’re more secure in the box now, though!
The colors aren’t unique, but the packaging is to die for. I have one of his polishes and it lasts forever on my nails.
Oh, nice! Which shade and for how long, Aline?
I have Lady Page, which is a dark plum color. I got seven days easily. I do my nails every seven days, so I don’t know how much longer it will last, but it did great for the week I had it on.
Totally random, but why don’t you review mascaras? I’m sure people would love to see it. Have a great day!
I find mascara really hard to review, since it’s kind of like skincare in that it depends on where your natural lashes start – very your mileage may vary (to a greater degree than color products) – which is why in general, I don’t review a lot of skincare, mascara, foundation, etc.
Thanks for letting me know. I can see why you made that choice.
No problem! 🙂 I still test all those types of products regularly, and if they end up really good, they often end up award winners at year-end. Some I intend to review but end up getting put on the backburner in lieu of other color cosmetics (I basically can’t review as much as I want).
These Louboutin nail polishes are tacky and the colours are so basic, I just don’t understand.
There are lots of products for people to enjoy across price points with different packaging and aesthetic choices if this doesn’t appeal to you — different strokes for different folks! 🙂 I’d love to hear about some polishes you think are more interesting you love since this is your first comment here!
I think it may partly be the brand – a piece of Loubie that is affordable. I would rather a Chanel polish or even better, good old OPI. Sad that Rescue Beauty Lounge is gone – such a fashion forward nail house.
The tropical packaging is simply glorious. Hot blossoms on black. I’ve got Tommy Bahama silk pants to match! And the Loubou spike makes his polishes strikingly recognizable. My polish days are over, thanks to psoriasis of the nail. I like the idea of smaller sizes in general. Especially wish MUFE shadows were all available in the size they put in the palettes. Who wants to inherit my MUFE big pans? Small sizes are great for polish, which can get funky over time. With small amounts, we can have a greater selection, for the same expenditure. There’s nothing hellishly unusual in these shades, but the sets certainly are Kawai.
The pants are probably more fun to wear 😉
These are really pretty. Did you find the polishes easier to apply with the applicator as a miniature version? I find the full-sized ones kind of impractical.
I actually think the miniatures are a little more natural in the hand, but they both require holding them lower on the handle for control. That being said, I don’t feel like I notice/have to make a lot of adjustments to apply other than not holding it really far away.
These are all beautiful, but to me this is a crazy price for nail polish. With that in mind, I think it’s good that they offer the set of minis for people who want to try it.
Their full-size bottles are definitely some of the more expensive polish out there! Thankfully, with nail polish, if it’s just the color you’re after, there are usually quite a few dupes out there!
?Pretty! Packaging again very pretty! Colors look beautiful. Will be passing though. Thanks for review! ?
No problem, Joy!
I’m in love with the packaging! I think I might pick up some of the dupes you listed. (My wallet is not quite ready for Christian Louboutin yet.)
I think the trios offer the best branding/keepsake packaging from what I’ve seen from CL Beaute – it’s more decorative than the small black box that comes around the base of the polish. The casing for the lipsticks is a bit more substantial, but the nail coffrets have a lot more design on the exterior.
What base coat and top coat do you typically use?
I don’t use any when testing for wear, but if I was doing something for fun, probably Zoya for both.
Thanks, Christine – I love Zoya!
The packaging is so gorgeous that the nail lacquers look almost sad once they’re taken out. Can I buy just an empty box? :p
Haha! I am curious how people display these – in the packaging or out? Closed or open?
All very pretty shades! Also, I just realized that those bottles could also serve as a shiv, lol.
There ya go!
Popi is spot-on my kind of color come summer!!! Beautiful! ?
But no, I won’t be taking this plunge. Which is okay, because as it stands, I already have far too many nail polishes. Including quite a few that have yet to be worn! ?
How do you get through your un-worn shades, Nancy?
I sometimes eventually need that certain shade….eh, who am kidding! LoL! My son says I need an intervention for my nal polish and eyeshadow addiction!?
Very pretty! Rather expensive for me though!
I can see why you rated these polishes so high – they look as if they perform so well!
I dunno, these just don’t look that good on your nails. That’s not a comment on your application skills because I’ve seen plenty of your nail polish swatch photos so I doubt the issue is with how you applied these (unless the super long handle on these is affecting your application of this polish.) These just don’t look as saturated in color as I would want for the price. These don’t look smooth as glass like i would want for a nail polish this expensive.
I’m not a huge fan of these ones compared to the other recent set but there is something about Popi that feels special.
