Christian Louboutin Beaute Loubilaque for July 2016

Christian Louboutin’s latest beauty creation draws inspiration from his longstanding love affair with lacquer. Not only did red nail lacquer inspire the red sole, but he has long admired the mirror-like surface of Chinese and Japanese lacquers. For his designs, he has often turned to the most brilliant of leathers, patent, to create iconic accessories with the shiniest of finishes. Now, for the first time, this inspiration enters the world of lip coulour with Loubilaque. High coverage, high shine, and high drama, it bottles the esprit of lacquer. POD Formulated with advanced pigment technology, Loubilaque delivers patent leather shine and full bodied, true colour in just one coat. Non-sticky and exceptionally comfortable on lips imparting highly dimension shine and high impact colour. The doe-foot applicator provides a sensual pleasure with a highliy precise and effortless application.

With 8 shades to choose from ranging from nude to bright, including the brand’s iconic Rouge Louboutin shade, there’s a shade to flatter all skin tones, moods and styles. Specially formulated to reflect light, the formula takes on brilliant dimension — almost as if a mirrored surface. In keeping with Christian’s vision of beauty as objet d’art, the bottle is designed with thick clear walls carved with an intricate mermaid tail pattern to encapsulate the opulent colour like an elixir and encased in a jewelry-like box with a hand stitched silk carrying pouch and silk ribbon. 0.16 oz. Made in USA.

$85 for a lipgloss?

AHHAHAHAHAHA! XD

Oh, wait. You were serious.

Let me laugh even harder!

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ?

It’s not really a lipgloss, I’ve seen swatches already and it’s pretty much a liquid lipstick which doesn’t dry down. Also, all of Louboutin’s stuff is expensive, so it’s not like this price is surprising.

Honestly, the packaging on this just makes me think of a pine cone, not a mermaid, and I still can’t get over the price of these.

Exactly. Every color on my small seasonal Xmas tree! Then I truly would get locked up in the pink (psych) hospital. I think a lot of the purchases of Loubilaque will be of the ‘because I can’ variety. But, whether it is from ostentation, save ‘n splurge, or regular buying habits, indulge if you want. Personally, I’d rather get a dupe and send the extra 50-60$ to a pet-related charity. You can’t help but wonder if Loubou is styling himself after PT Barnum, who raked it in, saying, ‘There’s a sucker born every minute.’ These pretty much are at the third standard deviation on the conspicuous consumption normal curve.

I’m thinking of it as an an $85 dollar necklace with a lip laquer bonus! And yes, this is putting my aquisitiveness in high gear.

I wear my matte Rouge Louboutin tube as a necklace 🙂

(I don’t use the ribbon that came with it though, I have a black satin cord that actually has a clasp)

I stop at the price tag, not even worth a look for me. So expensive that the judgment involved is this worth retiring a day later than my current plan.

Annnd, Mr. Louboutin does it again.
Prettiest gloss packaging I’ve seen in awhile, but seriously? $85? For only a minuscule .14 ? If it contained twice the amount of product, lasted COMFORTABLY on my lips for a good 6+ hours, and made my lips look smooth as glass: Perhaps then I would spring for it. But it is less product than even a MAC Lipglass!

If it actually wears like it does in the promo, I’d be sorely tempted. I think I’ll be safe though. I can’t imagine it’ll be comfortable, wear well, AND shine like that.

I just looked at these and said, “Whaaaat?!” I think it’s one thing to splurge on something that has an exceedingly great formula, but I’ve just not seen that with the Louboutin products. To me, the formulas just don’t seem to deserve the price tag, so it seems like it’s just throwing away money on a brand name and ostentatious packaging. But hey, if people want to spend their money on it, more power to them.

I understand that the appeal of this brand is basically packaging, but from a product point of view, so many companies already make a similar high gloss liquid lipstick/laquer that work really, really well. Especially since none of the colours are particularly unique. If I wanted something laquer-inspired, I’d just save my money and buy a Shu Uemura laque supreme. Seems to have a similar shade range!

Ok, I’ve dropped eighty bucks on eyeshadow palettes in the past, but lipgloss…no. I also can’t get over the over the top packaging. I would be embarrassed to apply it in public. Just my opinion. Those who love it, go for it!

I got sucked in to buying some of the Thierry Mugler cosmetics, and they are pretty much my only foray into really spendy cosmetics. They were extremely lovely, and wore well, suited me really well, but I just justify that kind of expense now. They didn’t even make them for very long, just a couple of years. I have so many things, and I retired from the beauty business. I just don’t use as much anymore on myself, or any clients at all now. I am going to be getting rid of my kit backups so I can make room for my personal things. The used things are going to friends and family who have expressed an interest.
