China Glaze Holiday 2010: Part 3 Review, Photos, Swatches
Nail Lacquer: Midnight Kiss, Party Hearty
China Glaze Holiday 2010: Part 3
Finally! These are the last four shades of the new and limited sixteen holiday shades by China Glaze. I grouped these together, because three of the four are very glitter-based. I wanted to swatch the glitters last, since the glitter does have a tendency to get into the nooks and crannies of my nails, which can throw off other swatches. Party Hearty is a fun shade but definitely use it to layer rather than alone.
Each China Glaze retails for $3 and up, depending on where you purchase yours from. I know the brand is carried at various etailers as well as Sally’s (not sure if it’s in store yet, though).
- Midnight Kiss is a soft gold with gold shimmer-glitter and an almost metallic/foil finish. It’s the gold version of Cheers to You. It seems similar to Butter London’s Full Monty. Two coats.
- Party Hearty is a mix of large, red hexagonal glitter; smaller green hexagonal glitter; and smaller silver and gold circular/square glitter. All the glitter particles are flat and suspended in a clear base. This is a shade that’s best layered over other polishes rather than on its own. For swatching purposes, I did both, and when it’s shown alone, that’s three full coats. I liked it best over Midnight Kiss, Cheers to You, and Frosty.
- Mrs. Claus is a pinky-red jelly with dark pink and fuchsia glitter suspended in the base. I feel like I’ve seen this shade before, but I can’t put my finger on it. I did three coats, but it still seemed rather pink on me. (This shade fell flat for me; it’s just so pink on but red in the bottle–I’d give this a lower product score of 27/30, FYI!)
- Mistletoe Kisses is an emerald green base with minty-green/silver glitter. After swatching Mrs. Clause, I thought this was going to be just like it, but Mistletoe Kisses is quite opaque! It initially reminded me of China Glaze Watermelon Rind, but it’s far too teal in comparison. Two coats.

I love Mrs. Claus actually. And I like Frosty and Cheers to You too!
Haha, glitter!! I love these. I like to wear Christmas colors year round. I so need Party Harty.
They’re lovely! I wish they were that cheap here, though. The cheapest I’ve seen (the only online seller I’ve found so far) only has the Ruby Deer set, and that’s £9.99. They haven’t got the individual ones yet, but they charge £5.99 for single polishes. On ebay, it’s £9.99 a bottle!
if you can get on ebay now, there’s 2 polishes for £10.95 i’m planning to buy them
I hear MBeauty lounge is a wonderful place to get China Glaze among other great nail polish brands – the prices are great and the shipping is supposed to be very affordable.
party hearty looks like a christmas tree 🙂 and I got my first christmassy feelings right now! hehe 😀
Party Hearty looks soooo fun.
I love glitter but strangely enough i dont care for any of these too much 🙁
I feel the same…these didn’t blow me away. I much prefer CG’s “Ruby Pumps” (red glitter) and “Dorothy Who?” (blue glitter) …. do you know of any other CG glitter shades comparable with those? thanks. 🙂 I do love the “Party Hearty” shade though. xoxo
Oh! So fun Party Hearty! =)
Christine will you be posting swatches of opi’s burlesque collection?
I don’t cover OPI at this time, sorry!
Wow, this makes me feel super festive!
Part hearty looks just like a color from Kleancolor( which I buy at a dollar a piece)!
Party Hearty= Kleancolor #88 fireworks!
Hey Christine, so glad you posted swatches of Party Hearty overtop other colours. I just got mine today and tried it out the same way… but the larger red glitter is causing me some issue. In your swatches there seems to be a decent amount of the red glitter even in just one coat. But when I try to layer one coat over another polish, I end up with just one or two pieces of red glitter on the nail which ends up looking rather silly.
Do you have any tips/tricks to dealing with the larger glitter pieces?
I press the brush across the nail – like lay it down so the entire length of the brush is on your nail, and then I brush it out a bit.
Misteltoe Kisses–the *perfect* green for me!
Must have Midnight Kiss!
I have a nailpolish EXACTLY like Midnight kiss that I got 2 years ago from a Charlotte russe.
O_O Your swatches of Party Hearty layered over the other colors just gave me the holiday goosebumps!
I know! I want to go make Christmas cookies now!
Christine, you might have answered this before, but is there an easier way to remove polish with glitter? I always feel like I have to kind of scrub it or scratch it off after the polish remover has sunk in a little bit. There must be an easier way (?)
I just press a pad with remover on it against the nail for 15-30 seconds, then move to the next nail, and I do this for one hand… and then I go back and remove.
White felt soaked in nail polish remover can help take off glitter. But only use white because the
other colors will bleed!
china glaze actually nailed this collection!its all the right colours and textures…just amazing.I am definitely getting Party Hearty
Midnight Kisss <3
Wow–Those really SCREAM Christmas! I’m more of a whisper girl, myself.
The Mrs. Claus kind of reminds me of my Deborah Lippman “Holiday” color–more pink than red. I use it for Valentine’s Day. Pinky red just doesn’t say Christmas to me. I agree with your 3 favorites for using Party Hearty as a top coat. They make me ready for some Christmas fun!
Oh WOW. Those are sure pretty. Too bad you can’t get that brand in Canada 🙁
I live in Canada and they have China Glaze at Chatter’s Hair Salon and Sally’s beauty supply.
hope this helps! =)
Transdesign.com ships to Canada! It’s cheap shipping if you order 9 polishes or less, and request a USPS ‘small flat rate box’ in the comment box at checkout. I’ve ordered from them successfully several times. And their China Glaze polishes are $3 each!
Sally will have these next month. However, we have twelve of the sixteen shades.
fun cool colors-
I would like to see Mrs Clause over MOmmy Kissing Santa
Christine! Your last couple photos make your nails look like fabulous little presents!! 😀
I need that Party Hearty in my life!
HAHA!
Party Hearty is the one I’m most excited about–I really want to wear it over a lime creme for my Christmas mani. Mistletoe Kisses is on my list, too, as is Mrs. Claus (despite reading/seeing how pink it’s been for a couple bloggers–I can always layer it over a red creme if I find I have that problem).
I’m not a huge fan of polishes with chunky glitter, but Party Hearty is to die for! I’m going to have fun wearing that one over the holidays! 🙂
Nice! I need Party Hearty, love it!
I need Party Hearty in my life.
Horrible colours… Can´t seem to understand who would wear these!
Ok it´s christmas but hey get a grip…
Whoaaaa love the glitter in party hardy!
holy crap party hearty is SO fun! 🙂 i really love all these
As soon as I’m done Project 10 Pan, Party Hearty will be coming home with me. I just wish my closest Sally’s wasn’t over an hour away 🙁 Oh well, I’ll use that as an excuse to do an, err, impressive (sounds so much better than huge lol) nail polish haul.
how do Midnight Kiss and Jingle Bells compare? Seems like they look exactly alike??
If I were more tech savvy , I’d put the swatches side by side and figure it out myself LOL
Slightly different + finish is different!
Normally I’m not so much into nail lacquers – and I will paint my toenails rather than my fingernails – but I’d quite like to try party hearty!
I’m wearing that over Snow right now… got SO many compliments!
I got Party Heart, Mrs Claus and Mistletoe kisses and I love them all!
