Charlotte Tilbury Love is the Drug Cheek to Chic Blusher
Charlotte Tilbury Love is the Drug Cheek to Chic Blusher ($40.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark pink with cool undertones and a golden shimmer-sheen finish. MAC Peaches & Cream (LE, $21.00) is brighter, less golden. Clinique Plum Pop (04) (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned, less golden. Tarina Tarantino Parasol (P, $25.00) is less golden. Too Faced Something About Berry (P, $30.00) is warmer. Too Faced Raindrops on Roses (LE) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Wicked (P, $55.00) is darker, less golden. MAC Pink Tea (LE, $21.00) is less golden, cooler-toned. MAC Divine Desire (LE, $21.00) is less golden. MAC Star Wonder (LE, $32.00) is warmer. MAC Gentle (P, $27.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
I think what makes this different from your standard gold-shimmered pink blushes is that the pink is rather cool-toned, which may make it more flattering on those with cooler complexions who have tried the warmer options and found them lacking. It had excellent color payoff with a soft, smooth texture that wasn’t powdery. The color applied evenly to the skin and blended out well without trouble. The finish is more frosted, so there was slight emphasis of pores, which is the one downside to this shade. You could tamp down some of that sheen by lightly applying a setting or finishing powder over it. On me, Love is the Drug lasted for eight hours before fading.

I have this blush and OMGOSH you need a light hand with it. I only used it for the second time yesterday and applied it the same way as I’ve applied other blushes and ended up looking like a mannequin and no matter what I did I could not get it to soften up. I’m very pale so I really need to be careful next time I use this, and really be careful about how much of that middle color I pick up since it’s quite bright.
Have you tried a fan brush or a stippling one? Might help toning it down, too!
I don’t need any more blush, I don’t need any more blush, I don’t need any more blush… *keeps repeating*
You can resist!
This is gorgeous do you think it would show up on deeper skin tones (nw 43)?
Yes!
YAY Im super excited I have been on the hunt for new blushes lol I have moved from a lipstick addiction on to highlighters and blushes
I got one of these..Sex on Fire…and love the concept of the two shades. I can’t figure out how CT pairs and chooses them for the best effect. Any thoughts or suggestions (or do I need to keep buying these!!!).
A favorite of the ones you’ve tried?
I like First Love for its color, but for quality, this one.
That color is undeniably stunning and you look gorgeous, Christine! But the breast in my face.. It’s like a nipple pad. I’d like to delve into CT’s psyche to understand these! Maybe a lucky winner gets two with tassels!
Maybe you’ll get a chance to ask her one day!
Haha! 😛 She’ll probably just be wearing pasties, if that ever happens.. Then, My question will have no significance. Fantastic blushers, but why an areola & nipple?? She might then proceed to shake them at me and ask me why I don’t see the reason.. I’ll be traumatized. 😀 Maybe she can make a petite or training size for me!
Haha!
This CT blush is my favorite!!! … but I have to apply it with the suqqu blush brush or i’ll end up looking like a doll.
Looks lovely on you! … (says the woman who bought all 6 shades *laughs* )
🙂
It is nicely pigmented, which is a pro and a con, lol!
What’s your second favorite CT blush, Cristy?
That is so beautiful. Great name, too. ( I haven’t heard that song in decades.)
It has a nice glow!
Ok, so… Normally I am well and truly against shimmery blushes (for myself, that is), but the centre pink colour in this one is…amazing. i have no idea why it captivates me so much, LOL! 😀 maybe because it’s cooler toned? Maybe because I have treacherously expensive taste? Maybe because I have that thing at the moment with gold shimmered pink eyeshadows and this is like the blush version?
😛
Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s your love for pink + gold at work 😉 Bonus, cool-toned.
I love the name and the colors! So beautiful! I’m glad it’s pigmented and performs well
Me too!
Holy Pigment! lol. I keep holding off on CT until I can swatch – not that your reviews aren’t wonderful, Christine but sometimes (with this kind of investment), one wants to play first. 🙂 I think this one is a little too bright for me though.
Nothing wrong with wanting to play 😀
that golden shimmer , though !
♥_♥
It’s golden for sure!
It looks lovely on you Christine, would love to see the rest of the blushes reviewed from CT, hope she sent you a bunch!
Thank you, Melina! I have reviewed all but one, I believe.
This looks lovely on you Christine. Being fair, with red hair, I cannot wear pinkish blush. I always wear peachy tones.
Thank you, Genevieve!
So many things I want from CT …good thing we dont have any of it available in Canada yet ( not to my knowledge anyway !). Love this blush/highlighter combo but thankfully I’m not as big of a blush hoarder as I am of lipsticks…and Im still lusting after “bitch perfect”!!
Hope CT shows up in Canada soon!
Wow, that’s gorgeous! My boyfriend told me to give him a list of stuff I want for the holidays and I think this will go on it. *drools*
Awesome 😀 Fingers crossed you get a nice set of products this holiday!
I just got this and I have been wearing it almost every day! Really pretty color, and I like the texture a lot. I didn’t realize it was shimmery when I got it, and I don’t usually go for shimmery stuff, but this is pretty subtle, I think. I usually just swirl it all together. It is very pigmented, so I’m going to try your suggestion of using a stippling brush.
Happy to hear it, Pteetsa! The shimmer can definitely be dialed up and down since it is in two parts.
I like the name of this blush, very cute. Wish it was a little less shimmery tho 🙁
I hear ya!
This blush looks great. I love a cool pink blush mixed with a slightly warmer golden sheen. It really lights up the cool complected!
Me too! 🙂
