Charlotte Tilbury Celestial Pearl Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Celestial Pearl
Charlotte Tilbury Celestial Pearl Eyeshadow Quad ($53.00 for 0.18 oz.) is a new, limited edition all-shimmer eyeshadow quad for the holiday season. The quality was decent, but the formulas were best used with a dampened brush and/or fingertip for richer, smoother application with less fallout. To my eye, and even on my coloring, the colors tended to blend together and lose contrast, so it was a more muddied look–I think it’d be better paired with some mid-tone or deeper mattes.

Celestial Pearl #1
Celestial Pearl #1 is a light, peachy copper with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was soft, slightly drier but not powdery, and it adhered well enough to bare skin, though it was smoother when applied with a dampened brush. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Celestial Pearl #2
Celestial Pearl #2 has a dirty, yellowy gold base with flecks of pink and gold sparkle throughout. It seemed more nuanced initially, but the base really dominated and the dimension of the shimmer/sparkle got lost. The texture was smooth to the touch, slightly dense initially but seemed to soften and become a little more loosely-pressed after two uses. It had opaque color coverage that applied evenly but had some fallout during application. It showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear and had light fallout over time.

Celestial Pearl #3
Celestial Pearl #3 has a dark peach, slightly translucent base with lighter peachy gold sparkle throughout. The consistency was lightly emollient to the touch, thin but not in a way that impeded application, and was best applied with a dampened brush or a fingertip for the smoothest application with the least fallout. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff that lasted well for eight hours.

Celestial Pearl #4
Celestial Pearl #4 is a medium, coppery brown with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. The texture was soft, slightly firmer and on the thinner side, but I didn’t have any real issues applying and blending it out. This shade wore well for seven hours before fading on me.

Skipping this. I got that muddled look with the Golden Goddess palette. I was so disappointed in that one, but the Fire Rose & Bella Sofia palette made up for it.Those are worth the money, imo . Easy pass on this one. Thanks for the review.
The embossing on #2 puts me very much in mind of Dior’s Bonne Etoile palette from quite a few years ago (that is a beauty…I still pull it out ever fall) and I love shade #4 but I’ve got Marc Jacobs Brav!O (I am so glad I bought that shadow) so I’m good…no need for this “nice but nothing earth-shattering” quad.
After seeing Morgan Turner’s review of this, I fell hard for it. But as much as I love it, some part of what’s left of any good judgement on my part tells me that this would probably hardly show up well on me. I don’t know if I will buy it or not. I’d like to do swatches of it on my skintone or see someone with similar coloring like Charlotte Holdcraft or Taralynn review it to see whether it would work on medium olive folks first.
I actually quite like this very subtle quad, but do wish that Shade 3 was less wishy washy. It definitely is a tame number from CT and I have dupes for most of the shades. I can’t help feeling that this palette needed a little more oomph to it though.
Pretty, but not pretty enough to make me want it.
I like the category “pretty but not enough” it’s a great money saver 🙂
I’m glad I saw your review. I *was* so tempted, but seeing your take on lack of contrast I realized I’d have the same issue as with the Star Aura quad, which I had tried and returned because of the same issue. Pretty packaging, but not enough to make up for the shortcomings and the fact that I have these colors a million times over.
Well, the packaging looks very nice. But I can’t wear packaging on my face.
I like the shiny packaging. No ideal about the texture, maybe I will experience..
