Best Actress
Charlotte Tilbury Best Actress Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a medium-dark peachy brown with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had opaque pigmentation that covered the lips fairly evenly, but some of the color pulled into my lip lines. The formula (generally) had a tendency to do this as it wore, so it was just worse with this particular shade. The texture was smooth, mousse-like, and easy to spread across the lips. It was comfortable to wear for the four and a half hours it lasted before fading and settling into lip lines enough to merit a reapplication, but it was, at least, not drying.

Formula Overview
$34.00/0.24 oz. - $141.67 Per Ounce
The formula is described as having the glide "like a gloss" with a "soft-focus matte" finish that will "nurture your lips like a cream" while having "full coverage." The texture of the formula was mousse-like without a lot of slip or wetness; it definitely felt more velvety and smooth with an airy quality to its "thickness." The color spread comfortably across the lips and typically yielded semi-opaque to opaque coverage that went on evenly but sometimes settled into my lip lines.
I did not find them to be particularly long-wearing--more like a standard bullet lipstick than a more traditional liquid lipstick, which was likely due to the fact that these never fully set or dried down on me. They had a semi-matte to satin finish that wore down to a matte finish (after two to three hours). The wear ranged from three to five hours on me and was fairly comfortable, though I would not describe the formula as hydrating.
The applicator is supposed to be like a stiletto heel, and it had a very steep angle that I did not find hugged my lips as well as the brand seemed to design it to--there are a lot of other doe-foot-like applicators that are more curved now to hug the lips that have been easier to use. The steepness of Charlotte Tilbury's applicator is what made it harder to apply for me, and I ended up using the other side for a lot of my upper lip.
The formula had a sweet, vanilla scent that was slightly noticeable on the lips but no discernible taste.

Charlotte Darling
Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a satin finish. The pigmentation was great, while the texture was velvety, mousse-like, and comfortable to spread across the lips and to wear. There was some slip to it, and I noticed the color gravitated into my lip lines both during the initial application as well as later on during wear. The sheen faded after an hour and a half of wear, but there was no full “dry down” and it always remained a touch tacky and movable on me, so it was not smudge-proof at all. It lasted for four hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Platinum Blonde
Charlotte Tilbury Platinum Blonde Hollywood Lips Matte Liquid Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a light-medium, peachy coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had intense pigmentation that covered the lips with even, opaque coverage. The consistency was lightweight with a more mousse-like feel, so it never pooled or was difficult to control along the edges of the lips. I did notice that the texture seemed chalkier compared to other shades in the range, and it felt clingier over time. The color wore well for four hours but had moderate settling into lip lines over time, while the formula was slightly drying.

With the exception of Best Actress, these shades are a bit to light and stark looking for my complexion. Looking at Platinum Blonde, I was instantly reminded of how horrible MAC Sushi Kiss made me look! The biggest factor dissueding me is that at this price, I have to really love it, and I just don’t feel it.
I think these are totally skippable!
I kind of like it when I don’t see anything I like in a post. I mean, I like the photos, the reviews and the grades, but not the look of the product. These three are all way too light for me, they’d work great if I was an extra in a bad zombie movie, but I don’t think that’s what CT had in mind naming the lipsticks 🙂
Haha!
Not a fan of these colors.
Darn!
These shades are pretty similar to each other and are quite expensive for an average rating.
That is true!
Helene’s and Genevieve’s comments pretty much sum up my feelings about this trio.
i feel like the CT line started as a really edited, curated collection of really high quality, nice things, but now she is trying to keep up with other brands and expand so much that the quality is suffering. the colors and the formula just don’t look like anything special, where as some of her original products (the pressed powder, film star bronze and glow, blushes) were really high quality and really raved about
Gunna be the oddball and say that I do like the look of these. $34 is a bit much though! If they were in the $22 range..they would be more tempting.
Not a big hit with the readers….including me! Her color scheme is generally one I don’t favor. Warm, light to midrange, lots of corals. If I could see CT in person, know I’d like something.
Charlotte Darlin is lookin pretty good to me..idk…wallet is saying otherwise..but I am kinda diggin it
Someone please explain to me how CT is any better than a mediocre drug store brand? Or , in my opinion, she doesn’t often belong on a drugstore shelf. Personally, I rank every product of hers I’ve tried — from lipsticks to eyeshadows to highlighters and more — as junk. That may sound harsh, but CT is the example everlasting to me of a trade off on celebrity with lack of quality in products.
After being burned by CT every time I tried an item I feel quite militantly anti about the line. Just me, but that’s my true experience.
