Chanel Tender Healthy Glow Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Tender
Chanel Tender Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.16 oz.) includes two more shimmery shades, three more semi-matte to satin shades, and one more sparkly shade. The worst performing shade was the sparkly one, as it was very sheer, didn’t build up, and translated very little to my lid and had lots of fallout, so it was hard to work with in a meaningful way. The other four shades were much better with greater coverage, blendability, and were easier to use.

Tender #1
Tender #1 is a light peach with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, but the slightly powdery texture made it more prone to sheering out in practice. It lasted for seven hours before fading a bit.

Tender #2
Tender #2 is a medium-dark plum with warm, reddish undertones and a semi-matte finish. The texture was soft, smooth, and finely-milled without being powdery. It yielded opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

Tender #3
Tender #3 is a light, golden peach with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, silky consistency that wasn’t thick or too dense, but it wasn’t powdery at all. It “melted” a bit when applied to skin and looked particularly seamless. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Tender #4
Tender #4 is a light-medium pink with warmer undertones and flecks of copper and pink sparkle. It had sheer coverage with a drier consistency that was hard to work with, even using a fingertip. There was little product that showed up on my skin, and there was a fair amount of fallout when I worked with this shade. What little translated seemed to disappear with five hours of wear.

Tender #5 is a muted, medium-dark dusty pink-coral with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, silky consistency that was a smidgen dusty in the pan but applied evenly to bare skin. An F in a Chanel palette, not good!
Apart from that sparkly one it’s a nice, easy to use palette, perfect for someone who doesn’t have a warm neutral palette, can someone who hasn’t got one by now exist though, I wonder. 🙂
Although I was disappointed in the one F, since I’m not interested in a sparkly topper and the rest of the shades did get good ratings, I went ahead and ordered this palette after watching several YouTube reviews which all seem to be saying the same thing–good palette except for the one sparkle shade. Four workable shades out of five is OK by me.
I hope you’ll enjoy it. It is very pretty.
Nice color story for an easy on the fly eye look. But not with this spotty quality at this price point!
This one is a bit of a fizz – not only are the shade colours very common – but having an F in it is bad news.
After looking at swatches of your Sidney Grace release this palette is just trash in comparison. So insane to me that a well established luxury company such as Chanel produces subpar makeup while a small mom-n-pop brand makes amazing creamy goodness for the eyes. SMH.
Well there’s a lot one can say about swatches. For instance, many of my old Chanel and Suqqu palettes swatch terribly, compared with newer formulations that have incredible swatches, but the wear is gorgeous. They may not look great on camera – the colors don’t “pop” – but in person, the shadows blends beautifully and effortlessly into each other and get more beautiful throughout the day.
I don’t rely on swatches to tell me how something is going to look on the eyeball and definitely not for certain brands. Just because they don’t swatch or rate well, doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t look spectacular when applied. However, a good rating DOES mean it’ll look great, so I take the low ratings for certain brands with a grain of salt. And breathe a sigh of relief that Christine doesn’t rate my favorite shadow maker, either.
It’s not just about the swatches. Three above-mentioned palette has only 5 colors, one of which scored an F, which means that application and longevity are subpar. But the price is still high for what is in that palette. My point is that Chanel could do much better than what they put out at times. If SG can make phenomenal eyeshadows then Chanel has no excuses.
I smiled when I read your last sentence because that is exactly how I feel. I think it’s important that we judge based on our personal esthetic, application skill, needs, etc. All reviewers have their own bias which is reflected in their reviews. That’s perfectly fine and to be expected so long as we remember we are getting just that person’s opinion which may or may not be the same as ours.
My comment was meant for Valerie.
Eileen,
It’s true – we all have different skills, preferences, skin tones… so many different factors that make us fond of some makeup and not others. For a long time, the old (not the later-reformulated) ND Star palette was my go-to palette. I couldn’t make some of the shades work but I hit pan on 9 with daily use. I loved that palette, even though it scored poorly here. It just worked for my skill and aesthetic preference at the time.
I love reading the reviews here because they get me excited about makeup and it’s where I find out about sales and new releases. Also, the community is great. And when a palette does rate well, I tend to buy it because an A from Christine is a guarantee of quality. Even if the colors are outside my comfort zone, I’ll get it and I’ve learned so much from trying new stuff.
You can see from the way the shadow is pressed on this palette that it’s quality Chanel. I suspect they didn’t adjust the pressing properly for the shimmer shade, because those are relatively new to the line. Chanel is not about bold bling and color saturation; it’s about understated elegance. Sometimes the palettes don’t look like much, but on the eyeball? Oh my. I’ll forgive 1 bad shadow if the other 4 make a beautiful look. Who uses up their entire palettes anyway?
This color palette is my fav and go to almost everyday. I was concerned about the price but it has been totally worth it. Nice quality and lasts all day.
