Chanel Sweet Star Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “metallic silver … [with] an iridescent glow.” On the nail, it’s a deepened gray with a green and blue cast–it gives off a greener, more pewter-ish hue along the center of each nail, while the edges are smokier with a bluish-purple hue. At an angle, it can turn almost bluish-silver. NARS Disco Inferno (LE, $20.00) is less metallic, sheerer. MAC Ascension (LE, $16.00) is greener. Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game (LE, $19.00) is cooler-toned, less silver, more violet with green edges. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It had a very metallic finish, and while many of the visible brush strokes faded as the polish dried down, there were still quite a few noticeable ones in the end result. The coverage was mostly opaque after two coats, and the polish’s consistency was slightly thin but not difficult to use. I didn’t have any issues with the color dragging or going on unevenly. It dried down to a naturally shiny finish, but a glossy top coat might give it extra oomph to make it look plusher. I get seven days of wear out of Chanel’s formula with minor tip wear and no chipping, which is the average for me on most polish formulas.

I’d been checking their sites since 9:45 pm pst last night. No luck. Good thing I was able to order online midnight/early morning on Thurs and able to do a big haul in store. I only has 2-3 items left to order. 🙂 I might have to swing by the store again. I’m glad I’m not Sephora developer/network person right now ..lol 🙂

Hey! I was wondering if you are going to be reviewing the colour pop lippie stix and pencils? There are a ton of reviews online but no one addresses the longevity/wear time/if it fades evenly ect. Thank you!!

Thanks for these swatches, Christine. This almost reminds of TF platinum eye color— for the color. Sorry to hear it is a little brush-strokey. I got it but am debating whether to hold it, sell it or use it.

I love it! I wish there was a permanent dupe for this or MARS Disco Inferno (my absolute favorite nail polish. I probably even like it more than Sweet Stars, but I’ll have to check it out in person to be sure.) I have Butter London’s Knackered (I think that’s the name), which is permanent as far as I know, but it has holographic micro glitter and it looks less…shimmery than Sweet Stars and Disco Inferno, just less…ethereal I than those two I suppose, but the micro glitter does make it more unique.

I like the shade, but with the brush strokes and the fact that it’s HARD to track down, I think I’ll pass! Metallic Chanel nail polishes sadly don’t wear very well on me, so I guess it’s not that much of a pity 🙂

This is really beautiful. But I sure wish that Chanel would change the brush to one of the flat rounded ones (like Dior or YSL). It is so much easier to do a good job with the rounded brushes

It’s pretty. If someone dupes it a la Peridot, I’d buy it. Maybe it makes me sound cheap, but I don’t buy polish more expensive than Butter London or Illamasqua. (When Illamasqua was available here… 🙁 )

Umm…wow! I’m genuinely surprised that I don’t want this… 🙁

From how it looks within its container, I’d want it in a heartbeat; nonetheless, looking at it on the nails…I just cannot see myself wanting to wear it. It’s not coming off as lavishing as I thought it would. The dupes don’t spellbind me either. Oh, well…I won’t complain; saves my wallet from obtaining anymore wounds!
